March 2015

[edit]

Information icon Hello, I'm Wesley Mouse. I noticed that you made a change to an article, Eurovision Song Contest 2015, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so! If you need guidance on referencing, please see the referencing for beginners tutorial, or if you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Even though it is probable the Russian entry will be announced in March 2015, we cannot assume that will be the case without verification from reliable sources. There are sources that state Russia may have already selected their participant, but have yet to make it "public knowledge". And if that is the case, then the "March 2015" date would be incorrect. THE HEAD OF DELEGATIONS MEETING. MARCH 16TH. THEY HAVE TO. — Preceding unsigned comment added by ESCSamuel (talkcontribs) 20:31, 6 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
ESCSamuel, please refrain from using CAPITAL writing, as it is considered to be uncivil and shouting. Secondly, we know the heads of delegation meeting is on 16 March. But Russian delegation may have already selected their participant well before March but have not yet made it public knowledge. So if you say they are to decided March 2015, when they may have decided February; would be incorrect. That is why we must verify what we write by using reliable sources. Wes Mouse | T@lk 20:38, 6 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I apologise, but the same could go for other countries, i really don't understand this logic when all entries will be announced in March. — Preceding unsigned comment added by ESCSamuel (talkcontribs) 20:40, 6 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
ESCSamual, please remember to sign your comments before clicking the "save" button by adding ~~~~ at the end of your comments. And there is no need to have linked to the words "announced in March"; I am not that stupid not to know what those words mean. Please check the discussion at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Eurovision#TBD vs TBA; which will help provide detailed explanation about all of this. You added TBD which means "to be determined". Without any sources to verify that Russia are holding a national selection, then we cannot use the term TBD. So the status quo is to leave it blank until an announcement is made, regardless whether the participant has to be presented to the Heads of Delegation meeting on 16 March. I like you, you seem great. I'm sorry for being so bad at this, i'm new as you can tell, and i'm here for simple edits and new features, not much else. I'm glad the page has finally been updated to have TBD and TBA, it annoyed me initially how it said TBD for all countries. I'm aware they mean determined and announced. I didn't realise the page had finally been updated with both TBD and TBA. I apologise once again for any trouble i have caused and not signing this post correctly, i'll just press this button and hope it does it correctly. Thank you for clarifying the whole leave it blank until the announcement is made thing anyway.ESCSamuel (talk) 22:53, 6 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, you seem like a nice person too. I put forward a valid argument on the project talk page about the use of TBD and TBA and how people may be getting confused with the terminology. There seems to be support, and I have been bold in making the changes to the article. So now anything that is an internally selected artist and/or song would use TBA (to be announced). While anything that would be a national selection requiring a public/jury vote to select their artist/song would come under the term TBD (to be determined).
