Here is my talk page archive up to the end of January 2008. Feel free to look around but please don't break anything! As you can see, I never got a welcome message, and my first messages were for image tagging... EJF (talk) 11:38, 1 March 2008 (UTC)

Image Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading Image:Highdays.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

Speedy Deletion Thanks

I quite appreciate the feedback, EJF. It's a little confusing to mesh what I understand as a professional editor with Wiki policy, on occasion. The Robert Ward article seemed quite trivial, but I had not read the specific sentence in Wiki policy dealing with politicians.

My perception — given my understanding thus far — is that the recommendation to delete the Halim Benmabrouk article was correct. The author answered me, indicating that the most important part of Halim's career had not been added. This seems to me to be a difficulty with the feature to monitor new pages — that both new and experienced users imagine they will be given some slack during the interval while they do polishing. The new feature exposes people before they are ready. Perhaps a warning needs to be added, for those who are creating new pages, which makes the role of the sandbox clearer?

Regards

Thanks for your kind reply, EJF. I don't know enough to weigh in on either side of the Wiki "inclusionist" arguments. Maybe there are people who are already familiar with police and neighborhood organizations in their guidelines about to handle graffiti — where I live there is a deal of it — so this is speaking from hands-on experience. One of the most important things is to remove the graffiti quickly, because it deters vandals to find their work is immediately undone. By extrapolation, the changes by Wiki contributors who vandalize should be immediately undone. Extending that a little further, it seems likely that blatant advertising and some other types of articles which are legitimately tagged with major problems should be dealt with very quickly. Perhaps it would satisfy the inclusionist arguments if suspect articles were simply moved to the user's own area?

Steve Redgrave

Hi EJF, I have reverted your change to Steve Redgrave as he is a Knight Bachelor and therefore styled Sir with no related post nominal letters. As Knight Bachelor is not a class of the Order of the British Empire, he is still a commander of that order with the post nominal letters CBE. He would become a KBE if he was a Knight Commander of the Order of the British Empire. Thanks, mattbr 13:49, 2 December 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for supporting my RFA

<font=3> Thanks for your support, my request for adminship passed 62/0/0 yesterday!

I want to thank Snowolf and Dincher for nominating me, those who updated the RfA tally, and everyone for their support and many kind words. I will do my best to use the new tools carefully and responsibly (and since you are reading this, I haven't yet deleted your talk page by accident!). Please let me know if there is anything I can do to be of assistance, and keep an eye out for a little green fish with a mop on the road to an even better encyclopedia.

Thanks again and take care, Ruhrfisch ><>°° 16:30, 15 December 2007 (UTC)

RfA Thanks

Thank you for voting in my RfA, which closed successfully with 44 support, 4 oppose, and 3 neutral. I will work hard to improve the encyclopedia with my new editing tools (and don't worry, I'll be careful).

An Administrator is I!

KoL images are copyrighted, so I'll use this PD one instead.

Adventurer! The Council has identified a number of strange occurrences (such as "vandals" and "articles for deletion") in the surrounding wilderness. The Council would check it out, but they have important Councily-type things. But never fear: brave adventurers known as "sysops" roam the lands!

Thank you for your support in my quest to become a sysop. Although I am now wielding the keys to my very own Bitchin' Meatcar, I promise to uphold the laws of the land, martini in hand, in a way that would make Saint Sneaky Pete proud. I will do my best to be a Jack of Several Trades (although I may be a Master of Nuns). I promise to Heart Canadia. And I will make it my goal to Make War, Not ... er, Wait, Never Mind.

I am glad to serve my guild, the League of Wikipedians. If I can be of any assistance, or you have any questions, suggestions, or criticisms in the future, please let me know. And if you are at a loss for what any of the above actually means, see this website.

Thanks again.

Rudget!

Dear EJF, my sincere thanks for your support in my second request for adminship, which ended with 113 supports, 11 opposes, and 4 neutral. I would especially like to thank my admin coach and nominator, Rlevse and Ryan Postlethwaite who in addition to Ioeth all inspired me to run for a second candidacy. I would also like to make a special mention to Phoenix-wiki, Dihyrdogen Monoxide and OhanaUnited who all offered to do co-nominations, but I unfortunately had to decline. I had all these funny ideas that it would fail again, and I was prepared for the worst, but at least it showed that the community really does have something other places don't. Who would have though Gmail would have been so effective? 32 emails in one week! (Even if it does classify some as junk :P) I'm glad that I've been appointed after a nail biting and some might call, decision changing RFA, but if you ever need anything, just get in touch. The very best of luck for 2008 and beyond, Rudget. 16:17, 15 January 2008 (UTC)

Joshua Kopel

Hey buddy. If you could do me a favor and please read over the article you just tagged. Its written in a completely objective manner and everything included in the article has been accurately referenced. I would appreciate it if you would remove the tag you placed on the article. Thanks, --Joshuakopel (talk) 13:16, 20 January 2008 (UTC)

(copied to own talk page) Hi there, I tagged it as there were a few issues I wanted to deal with. As you may know, some editors like to patrol new pages to see if there are any problems with it, so I tagged it to bring it to their attention. I added citation tags to the article in the restaurant section where there are some unsourced statements. If you could get some references for these it would be great as another editor may delete them. I had to remove the lounges section because of WP:CBALL; if you have any reliable sources that state that this will happen, you can put it back in the article.

I will now remove the tag from your user page and the article, as no-one has yet commented on this. If you have any questions, feel free to ask me. Cheers, EJF (talk) 13:45, 20 January 2008 (UTC)

Thank you very much. I'll get right on adding sources to the restaurant section. Also if you would be so kind as to help me with the localgod clothing page. The article was not initially categorized but i did go back and add categories. The tag remains on the page and i also cannot seem to remove the previous categories it was listed under. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, --Joshuakopel (talk) 13:57, 20 January 2008 (UTC)

Hi again, I removed the tags and categories from the clothing page. It should be OK now. Any questions, feel free to ask. Cheers EJF (talk) 14:10, 20 January 2008 (UTC)

<font=3> Thanks for your support, my request for adminship passed 60/0/0 yesterday!

I want to thank Mrs.EasterBunny and Royalbroil for nominating me, those who updated the RfA tally, and everyone for their support and many kind words. To paraphrase a president ... I wish my mum and dad could see the comments made. My dad would be so proud to see the comments ... and my mum would have believed them". I will do my best to use the new tools carefully and responsibly (and you may be surprised to find that I have not deleted all of the pages by accident..... yet).

RfA thank-spam

EJF/Archive 1, I wish to tender my sincere thanks for your support in my successful request for adminship, which ended with 37 supports, 2 opposes, and 2 neutral. The results of the RfA are extremely bittersweet because of the recent departure of my nominator, Rudget. Hopefully I can live up to his and your expectations. I would especially like to thank Epbr123 and TomStar81 for mentioning that they were preparing to offer me a nomination. The past week has been one of the most stressful weeks in my life, and I appreciate your vote of confidence in me. If you ever need anything, just get in touch. -MBK004 21:12, 24 January 2008 (UTC)

My Rfa

My effort to regain adminship was unsuccessful, and I'll do what I can to ensure your opinion of my suitability for adminship improves. Thank you for taking some time out of your day to voice your opinion.--MONGO 08:00, 27 January 2008 (UTC)

What were you doing there? Not that I'm angry or anything (far from it), just wondering what was going on. Lumberjake (talk) 19:37, 29 January 2008 (UTC)

(paste back for continuity) Sorry about that! I was doing recent changes patrol, and at this time of day, there's a hell of a lot of vandalism; looking at your edit I just saw a load of content removed from the top of the page, and the capitalised edit summary, I was a bit trigger-happy and rollbacked your edit, but then I realised I balls-up and reverted back. Keep editing, you're doing well! EJF (talk) 20:01, 29 January 2008 (UTC)
Ha ha... thanks! I don't have the stamina to patrol RC, so I'm glad you're doing it :P Lumberjake (talk) 20:05, 29 January 2008 (UTC)

Thanks

Thank you for your support in my Rfa, but I have withdrawn to gain a little more experience, thanks again. Cheers. Earthbendingmaster 22:01, 30 January 2008 (UTC)
