Your username

[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia and thank you for your contributions. This is a message to let you know that your username, "Sbsmtv", may not comply with Wikipedia's username policy. Please note that the following types of usernames are prohibited:

  • Promotional usernames: Those that match the name of a company, organization, group, website or product (e.g. "XYZ Company", "MyWidgetsUSA.com", "Foobar Museum of Art"). However, you are allowed to use a username that contains such a name if it identifies you personally (e.g. "Jack Smith at XYZ Company", "Mark at WidgetsUSA", "FoobarFan87").
  • Usernames implying shared use: Those that directly imply shared access between people (e.g. "Jack and Jill's Account"), or match names of posts within groups or organizations (e.g. "Secretary of the XY Foundation").
  • Misleading usernames: Those that contain suffixes like "bot" or "script" and imply an account is that of an automated bot when it is not, or titles like "admin" or "sysop" (implying a position of authority), or match names of living people that you are not, such as famous living people. If you are a famous person editing under your real name and your account is blocked from editing, please note that this is not to discourage you from editing, but rather to prevent any potentially damaging impersonation of you.
  • Offensive and disruptive usernames: Those that contain words or phrases that are likely to offend other contributors, directly threaten or attack another person or some entity, contain contentious material about living persons, or otherwise imply you do not intend to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia (e.g. "JohnIsAJerk", "WannabeWikipediaVandal").

For more information, see Wikipedia's username policy.

Please also note that Wikipedia does not allow accounts to be shared by multiple people, and that you may not advocate for or promote any company, group, organization, product, website, person or other entity, nor do we tolerate any other 'bad faith' editing such as trolling or other disruptive behavior, regardless of your username. If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. If you do not understand which part of the policy your username may be violating, please don't hesitate to ask. As an alternative, you may ask for a change of username by completing this form, or you may simply create a new account for editing. Thank you. Request reason:

Hello there. Thanks for your kind remind about my username and the three-revert rule. Yet I would like to point out that the one who is edit warring is the user Snowflake91. As you can find in the "view history" section of the article of The Show, the user first deleted the link that I added without explanation, and then changed my edit back and forth several times by his/her preference. The reasons for my edits are clearly stated, and I believe that there is no problem with my edit of the name "Longguo", while Snowflake91 keeps changing my edit without valid reasons. Decline reason:

You aren't blocked for edit warring, just for your username. To get unblocked post {{unblock-un|new username|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the bottom of your talk page. PhilKnight (talk) 22:09, 23 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Because we have a policy against usernames which give the impression that the account represents a group, organization or website, I have blocked this account; please take a moment to create a new account with a username that represents only yourself as an individual and which complies with our username policy or request a change of username.

You should also read our conflict of interest guideline and be aware that promotional editing is not acceptable regardless of the username you choose.

If your username does not represent a group, organization or website, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the bottom of your talk page.

You may simply create a new account, but you may prefer to change your username to one that complies with our username policy, so that your past contributions are associated with your new username. If you would prefer to change your username, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock-un|new username|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the bottom of your talk page. Please note that you may only request a name that is not already in use, so please check here for a listing of already taken names. Thank you. -- Dlohcierekim (talk) 11:04, 23 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. You appear to be repeatedly reverting or undoing other editors' contributions. Although this may seem necessary to protect your preferred version of a page, on Wikipedia this is known as "edit warring" and is usually seen as obstructing the normal editing process, as it often creates animosity between editors. Instead of reverting, please discuss the situation with the editor(s) involved and try to reach a consensus on the talk page.

If editors continue to revert to their preferred version they are likely to be blocked from editing Wikipedia. This isn't done to punish an editor, but to prevent the disruption caused by edit warring. In particular, editors should be aware of the three-revert rule, which says that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Edit warring on Wikipedia is not acceptable in any amount, and violating the three-revert rule is very likely to lead to a block. Thank you. -- Dlohcierekim (talk) 11:05, 23 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The Show

[edit]

As I said, we use the names that sources are using, and in this and many other reliable sources, he is addressed as "Kim Yong-guk", no one cares how is he called in his band (Jin Longguo or whatever) sicne this is completely irrelevant as the band has nothing to do with his TV Show hosting role, even the SBS MTV itself uses Yongguk on their twitter as the name. Snowflake91 (talk) 22:12, 23 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

As I have explained earlier in edit summary, Korean media/The Show Twitter refer to him as 김용국 because that's his Korean name, and Kim Yongguk is how 김용국 is pronounced in Korean. This doesn't mean that his official name is thus Kim Yongguk, nor have I seen any news referring to him directly as "Kim Yong-guk". Nevertheless, he is not Korean and both his company and The Show acknowledge his given name, which is Jin Longguo. As long as you bear to take a look at the references I provided earlier (and here are the links: https://twitter.com/LONGGUOofficial as well as the screen at the beginning of https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dV29cFr3JBU&list=PL-8Hup27GTvTk-yxkwcRF8uVheXfED18M ), you'll find the answer.

Secondly, I would have to say that it is not respectful to say something like "no one cares how is he called in his band sicne this is completely irrelevant", especially when you are neither a fan of him or his band while apparently I am.

Anyway, I guess neither of us wish to waste our time on such a minor issue. I will make my final edit to the name, in the good faith of a fan, and I hope that this issue will thus come to an end.

A word of advice: Youtube and Twitter are not reliable sources. WP:RS Lavalizard101 (talk) 14:01, 24 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Yes and this is a tricky question. The artist is mainly active in Korea, which means all news reports and other sources will be in Korean, while this is an English Wikipage, so we'll need official sources that presents his name in English.

His company doesn't have an official page yet (http://www.choonent.com), while The Show's official page hasn't posted videos about this new season hosted by Longguo neither. And in consideration that this is a relatively new artist in the industry, I believe his official Twitter managed by his company and any available video about this past The Show episode (doesn't necessary have to be the one I provided) ought to be considered one of the most reliable sources. Otherwise, can also refer to Wikipages about his past activities: Longguo&Shihyun: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Longguo_&_Shihyun; JBJ: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/JBJ_(band).
