thank you

My RFA passed today at 150/48/6. I wanted to thank you for weighing in, and I wanted to let you know I appreciated all of the comments, advice, criticism, and seriously took it all to heart this past week. I'll do my absolute best to not let any of you down with the incredible trust given me today. rootology (C)(T) 08:05, 1 February 2009 (UTC)

RfA thanks

Thank you for the trust you placed in me by supporting my RfA (which passed and, apparently, I am now an admin!). I will do my best to continue to act in a way that is consistent with the policies of wikipedia as well with our common desire to build and perfect this repository of human knowledge; and can only hope that you never feel that your trust was misplaced. Thanks again! --Regent's Park (Rose Garden) 22:51, 2 February 2009 (UTC)

Re: Leaving Wikipedia

I'm sorry to hear that, Dylan. Just keep in mind that you don't have to retire just because you're inactive. In any event, best of luck at SEWQ. Cheers, –Juliancolton Tropical Cyclone 00:13, 6 February 2009 (UTC)

Adoption

i think i want to be adopted. im new, but have always like wikipedia. check out my page and stuff. message me back. i like making friends too. CallMeAndrew (talk) 06:06, 11 February 2009 (UTC)

No chance

There is no chance that ChristianMan16 will be un-blocked, it's been tried before. iMatthew // talk // 16:53, 15 February 2009 (UTC)

I beg to differ. I am aware that an unban of CM16 has been proposed at least twice before; however, to my knowledge, things have been going more smoothly with him since the October unban proposal. He now has rollback access on the Simple English Wikipedia, where he has made many, many good contributions. This, this and this may be of further interest. While he may require coaching, I would personally like to see CM16 given another chance, at the very least per WP:AGF. --Dylan620 Hark unto me 21:41, 15 February 2009 (UTC)
Additionally, I apologize if you have already taken this into account. --Dylan620 Hark unto me 22:41, 15 February 2009 (UTC)

I'm afraid I have to agree with iMatthew. Users are banned for a reason, but some of the names you've listed haven't really done anything to regain good-faith. It seems like a reasonable proposal, however, so don't let me discourage you!

Also, thanks for the note on the Simple Wikiquote. :) –Juliancolton Tropical Cyclone 01:34, 16 February 2009 (UTC)

Which names have done sufficient work to regain good faith here on ENWP? Also, would it be appropriate if I did a little "demo" thing for this project, to introduce my reasoning for unblocking each user, and suggestions for restrictions on them? Julian, if you're telling me not to be discouraged by you, then I'm not backing down until all hope is lost. (Update: I am withdrawing my proposals to unblock Cute 1 4 u and Encyclopedist as they do not have their e-mail enabled. That leaves ChristianMan16, EddieSegoura, Flameviper, and Yqbd.) --Dylan620 Hark unto me @ 02:32, 16 February 2009 (UTC)
As a said, users who were banned were done so for a reason: to prevent damage to Wikipedia. WP:AN is usually the best place to propose an unban, but either way, best of luck with your project. –Juliancolton Tropical Cyclone 22:06, 16 February 2009 (UTC)
Well, I suppose I could propose an unblock of CM16 per WP:BOLD, WP:AGF, and an e-mail I just got from User:Kalajan. I'm off to ANI to propose the formal lifting of CM16's community ban. --Dylan620 Hark unto me · Ping me @ 23:39, 16 February 2009 (UTC)

Just go to Special:CreateAccount and proceed as usual, without having to log out. Cheers, –Juliancolton Tropical Cyclone 20:10, 17 February 2009 (UTC)

What else can we do to help you?

You need to start editing more mainspace. Your last 5 mainspace edits go back to December 25. You have 4 mainspace edits in your last 250 total edits. That's terrible. Can you please start editing mainspace and leave you're userpage alone? Thanks, iMatthew // talk // 18:55, 18 February 2009 (UTC)

Listen; I always have wanted to help out in the mainspace, but every time I try to, I chicken out. Just today, I've started doing CSD work, and reverting vandalism and POV-pushing. Yes, this is my userspace, but I use it to keep track of my CSD tagging. I just hope CSD'ing and vandal-fighting is satisfactory for me, because if not, I don't think I'm able to edit here anymore. Dyl@n620 19:16, 18 February 2009 (UTC)
Started POV-pushing? Did you mean something else? :) • \ / () 20:47, 18 February 2009 (UTC)
I meant that I reverted POV-pushing. Trust me, I don't have a POV to push, and if I did, I wouldn't. Dyl@n620 20:58, 18 February 2009 (UTC)
Thought so, no worries. • \ / () 21:00, 18 February 2009 (UTC)

Userpage

You're welcome. If you need to edit it, feel free to let me or another admin know. Cheers, –Juliancolton Tropical Cyclone 19:56, 18 February 2009 (UTC)

Rollback

I have granted rollback rights to your account; the reason for this is that after a review of some of your contributions, I believe I can trust you to use rollback correctly by using it for its intended usage of reverting vandalism, and that you will not abuse it by reverting good-faith edits or to revert-war. For information on rollback, see Wikipedia:New admin school/Rollback and Wikipedia:Rollback feature. If you do not want rollback, just let me know, and I'll remove it. Good luck and thanks. –Juliancolton Tropical Cyclone 01:18, 19 February 2009 (UTC)

DoneJuliancolton Tropical Cyclone 01:31, 19 February 2009 (UTC)
Sure. Let me know when you want to continue. –Juliancolton Tropical Cyclone 02:35, 19 February 2009 (UTC)
Sure, will do. –Juliancolton Tropical Cyclone 16:39, 19 February 2009 (UTC)

Your rollback on the Muhammad‎ would seem to be a violation of the rollback terms. Mine is a good faith edit. Please do not abuse your new 'power', especially on your first day. --Judgeking (talk) 17:59, 19 February 2009 (UTC)

Muhammad

  1. [2]
  2. Wait for another 3RR violation
  3. [3]

In the meantime, it's technically true that you're supposed to use UNDO, edit an old version or manually remove Judgeking's soapboxing rather than use rollback. Rollback is only supposed to be used for transparent vandalism, not mere POV pushing or other bad edits. In practice, it doesn't always go that way, but ... WilyD 18:16, 19 February 2009 (UTC)

  • Just FYI, they followed it up with a sockpuppet to avoid 3RR and replacing my userpage with a penis. So - uh - it worked out roughly the way you ought to expect. ;) WilyD 17:22, 20 February 2009 (UTC)
An indef block? Dyl@n620 19:15, 20 February 2009 (UTC)
Oh, the checkuser wasn't 100%, so the probably sock got indef, the main 31. We'll see if the point sinks in. But - uh - editors up to no good will dig their own grave, I believe, is the point. WilyD 19:21, 20 February 2009 (UTC)

I was wondering

I hope you don't if I ask how to decorate me user page and talk page. Yours is so cool! And I don't want mine to be boring.(by the way how do you make a guest list?)Tiki Tiki girl (talk) 19:40, 19 February 2009 (UTC)

Thanks!

Thanks! but the userboxes sound sooooo hard to make because of all the different codes.( by the way i was wondering if you would adopt me? just please don't try to make me really, really professional)Tiki Tiki girl (talk) 19:56, 19 February 2009 (UTC)

Re: Barnstar

Thanks! Yeah, Huggle is pretty fast and efficient. –Juliancolton Tropical Cyclone 21:01, 19 February 2009 (UTC)

No, I don't want to be an administrator. And Wikignoming sounds good to me!Tiki Tiki girl (talk) 21:53, 19 February 2009 (UTC)

"and I personally wouldn't mind seeing Neuro up at RfA"

I just wanted to let you know how flattered I was by this statement. You made my day. :) neuro(talk) 16:38, 20 February 2009 (UTC)

Sure thing on both the review and B-man - I'd love that, if you and he have the time. Thanks again! neuro(talk) 17:13, 20 February 2009 (UTC)
Sure.
  1. I have one featured work, and one at FLC.
  2. WP:UAA, WP:CSD, WP:AFD, WP:PERM, WP:AN, WP:AN/I, but I would probably leave page protection alone.
Thanks again, neuro(talk) 22:27, 20 February 2009 (UTC)
Posted at his talk. neuro(talk) 02:57, 21 February 2009 (UTC)
If it is alright with you, I might put myself up for an editor review (in addition to your AR) in a little bit - whilst I'm certain yours will be more comprehensive and will focus on adminship (which the ER probably won't), I'd like to get broader input if that is okay with you. neuro(talk) 09:44, 22 February 2009 (UTC)
I think you're talking about WP:ACC, but I'm not quite sure what you mean by 'collect'. neuro(talk) 17:24, 22 February 2009 (UTC)

What exactly is a subpage(and how would I get there)?

If you could tell me that first I would state my answer. (By the way do you like my user page?)Tiki Tiki girl (talk) 18:13, 20 February 2009 (UTC)

Re: Your RfA

Thanks for the questions, which I answered. Cheers! FlyingToaster 18:26, 20 February 2009 (UTC)

OK!

yes, I would like a subpage to be coached on. There is one thing i want to ask you is how old are you? and i want to add that i might not be here every day but i will try to.Tiki Tiki girl (talk) 20:00, 20 February 2009 (UTC)

I have WP:BANNED on my watchlist because I take an interest in things that no one else is interested in (like maintaining the banned user list). I hope my answer helps you. Cheers, theFace 18:19, 21 February 2009 (UTC)

Another few comments

So Dylan, I have been monitoring your work from afar over the past few weeks. I have noticed that you have made a couple of mistakes with Rollback and Twinkle, and I wanted to ask you to please be a bit more careful with them. Also, I would ask that you please read over the Speedy Deletion guidelines more carefully before tagging something with a CSD tag; there is no way this should have been {{db-g1}}, which is used for random strings of letters and incoherent phrases.

Cheers, and have a nice day. Feel free to contact me if you need any help. NuclearWarfare (Talk) 23:08, 21 February 2009 (UTC)

Sorry about that bad tag. I saw a vandal diff on the page, and misread "replaced content with" as "created page with," and tagged it as nonsense. When I realized that the page had been replaced with that vandalism, I immediately removed the CSD tag. I will take your comments into heart, and I thank you for your input. Dyl@n620 03:16, 22 February 2009 (UTC)

You voted both in support and oppose. Which do you pick? Versus22 talk 03:51, 22 February 2009 (UTC)

Support is latest, oppose indented. neuro(talk) 09:43, 22 February 2009 (UTC)

Yes!

Yes i would like you to create a subpage for you to coach me on.Tiki Tiki girl (talk) 16:29, 23 February 2009 (UTC)

Re: A question regarding Twinkle

The delink button removes links to the article from other pages. It's pretty efficient, but should be used extremely sparingly. –Juliancolton Tropical Cyclone 01:04, 24 February 2009 (UTC)
