Hello Dwaipayan. As you suggested to submit my article on Chapal Bhaduri for DYK, I did it But I did some wrong step(not done the third step). They informed me today about my mistake. Now this article now has an age more than 5 days. What should I do? And I am not quite sure how to do the third step for the nomination. Please help me out.Urbashi (talk) 08:14, 16 November 2012 (UTC)

Hi Dwaipayanc. How have you been? So, this user is hell bent on ruining Balan's chances at FA. Did you see his edits? Oh lord! And then, he defends himself. It's frustrating. What do you think can be done? --S.M.A.R.O.J.I.T (talk) 05:25, 11 November 2012 (UTC)

Speedy deletion converted to PROD: Goodminton
Hello Dwaipayanc. I am just letting you know that I have converted the speedy deletion tag that you placed on Goodminton to a proposed deletion tag, because I do not believe CSD applies to the page in question - a hoax implies intent to deceive. It fails WP:NFT, but that's not a speedy reason. (It has often been proposed as one, including by me, but difficulties of definition have always stymied the proposal). 15 August
Thank you for your continuing work on this article; yes, it's much closer to featured status now. In fact, I think the three post-History sections are quite comprehensive. My comments/concerns regarding them have been addressed well.
The history section needs tweaking though. Mainly, the Partition and independence sub-section should be split off into a separate '(Events of?) 15 August 1947' section. Since this is the day this article is about, we shouldn't be lumping it with the background story that lead up to it. Also, I have India After Gandhi on my lap right now, and I don't think we have exhaustively mined it of all relevant and interesting info (especially about that day). :) Eg: the Congress's preference for 26 January 1948, 15 August 1947 as "inauspicious" hence they began on the 14th, special session of the Const Assembly, who all gave speeches, Gandhi's reluctance to celebrate ... I feel the itinerary of events (pg 7) can be reproduced as well.
By the way, it'll be nice if we can quote newspaper reports of the day from the likes of the New York Times, Time magazine etc. We can raise a request for these at Wikipedia:WikiProject Resource Exchange/Resource Request. —indopug (talk) 17:13, 21 November 2012 (UTC)

DYK for Saree cancer
On 20 November 2012, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Saree cancer, which you recently nominated. Thank you for your generous comment here. I was going through the history section today and noticed a few things:
- ...Puranas (ancient Indian religious texts) and stone pillar inscriptions of Emperor Ashoka (third century BCE) mention Tripura ... is the Tripura these texts mention cognate with the region known as Tripura today or is it something entirely different like Tripura (mythology)? This needs to be clarified.
- An ancient name of Tripura is Kirat Desh (the land of Kirat)... I have added a verify source tag at the end of the sentence. Page 155 of the reference, in the limited view I can see, refers to Lushai-Kuki clans inhabiting the hills east and north-east of Tripura (Lower Assam?) as Kirat. Therefore, Kirat Desh couldn't possibly refer to Tripura.
- History of Tripuri kings mentioned in the Rajmala has been glossed over in the section. I wonder whether this is a conscious decision because of the mythological nature of the text. If not, you can use references like this and this to elaborate on their internal and external strife.
I'll try to find more time for the article this week. Regards. Correct Knowledge«৳alk» 22:29, 27 November 2012 (UTC)
- The history section feels a bit incomplete without the medieval history of Tripura. It appears as if Tripura had no events of historical significance before 19th century. However, I understand that there is a dearth of references on this. The D. C. Sircar reference attempts to make historical sense of Rajamala, but most of the content in the book is just genealogy, hardly worth mentioning in the article. Unless we can find a better reference, the history section, as it is, will have to do. Correct Knowledge«৳alk» 07:04, 28 November 2012 (UTC)

- The last time I tried removing puffery from Shahrukh's article, a couple of editors jumped on me and accused me of being a Salman Khan fan. Which is not even funny. Sigh! Anyway, I see that you have added Balan's wedding date in the article. I know that it has been confirmed, but shouldn't we wait for the wedding to actually happen before we add the date? - Lol, nothing happened. I didn't edit the page anymore. Recently, Secret of Success got into an edit fight over the section header "Brand SRK" which resulted in the page being blocked. Tricky waters, that.

Hello. After lot of trouble and few hassles, I finally had to give up on the citations on the article. DFF is taking lot of time to reply and some of them are not favourable because of the non-clear statements. I had discussed this with copyright expert, Moonriddengirl, over the period of time and finally decided to take the citations out till I hear from DFF again. I am having a very difficult time with those Harvnb references, and damn busy with Swami Vivekananda at the Parliament of the World's Religions (1893). I have also created this article which might be a DYK article too Khandana Bhava–Bandhana. What do you think? FARs
Independence Day (India) looks ready for an FAR. You can put it up whenever you want. I now have both India after Gandhi and The Proudest Day in my possession. I don't think you and Indopug will be short of resources, but just in case you need my help with some tidbits about Independence Day, I will have very little access to the internet between 20th to 26th December. Tripura still has two little issues. The GSDP table in the economy section is indented towards the left, at least on my screen. The image above the table could use a reduction in size or you can place the table few lines after the section. Two cn tags, one each in education and healthcare section, need two be replaced with refs. Other than this, the article looks fine to me. Could you also have another look at Swami Vivekananda? If we don't put it up for FAR now, we won't have even an outside chance of making it to Jan 12th. Correct Knowledge«৳alk» 12:34, 18 December 2012 (UTC)
After missing the Surya Sen DYK opportunity, we have got another one Pritilata Waddedar. Can you please go ahead and nominate? I have already posted 5-6 nominations in last 48 hours, I don't want to post this one know. Don't mention her suicide in DYK if possible, you can put Pahartali European Club attack, which had a sign board that read "Dogs and Indians not allowed" if possible --Tito Dutta (talk) 13:03, 18 December 2012 (UTC)
- Alright, you can put the suicide in the hook too, but, don't say she was trapped by British police, that's the portion where I am unsure --Tito Dutta (talk) 13:06, 18 December 2012 (UTC)
- Has anyone thought of a hook yet? Correct Knowledge«৳alk» 14:02, 18 December 2012 (UTC)

- From technical aspects, Vivekananda is nearly there, although some referencing format error persist. I don't have the time right now to fix those, I will have a look tonight. However, I don't know where it stands regarding prose (both for prose quality and chance of close paraphrasing). The prose quality was not too bad during the GA nomination 5 months before, but had some puffery. Did some clean up last night, and it seems others are working on that, too. I think we should give it about 36-48 more hours before nominating. --Dwaipayan (talk) 16:18, 18 December 2012 (UTC)

Re: divorce and separation
Lol. This is news to me. I haven't come across a single news report even hinting at this. Anyway, who separates within five days of marriage? :P --smarojit (buzz me) 05:31, 19 December 2012 (UTC)
- Omg, I'd rather not comment on that. :P --smarojit (buzz me) 05:38, 19 December 2012 (UTC)

I started that work, Some portion were close paraphrasing of Swami Vivekananda: Messiah of Resurgent India which I have fixed. That Gujarat Gov site should not be an issue, IMO. --Tito Dutta (talk) 02:52, 21 December 2012 (UTC)

Hi, needs your advice and opinion for the remarks of sandy regarding the FA review of Hyderabad, simultaneously I requested STFG also about his opinion here, the reviewer insted of asking for corrections he is demanding for more independent copy edit, for which i am completely shocked. Two by Satyajit Ray
Hi. Have you seen a short film by Satyajit Ray named "Two"? The one available on youtube is of 10 mins but Ray's official site says 15 mins. Is there any reference available on it?. - Vivvt • (Talk) 06:59, 30 December 2012 (UTC)
- I found one youtube video which is of 12 mins. Based on that I expanded the article and pushed it for DYK. Lets see. - Vivvt • (Talk) 04:33, 2 January 2013 (UTC)

Best wishes for the New Year! | ||
Here's wishing you and yours a joyous, healthful, and productive 2013! Please accept a belated thank you for the well wishes upon my retirement as FAC delegate this year, and apologies for the false alarm of my first—and hopefully last—retirement; the well wishes extended me were most kind, but I decided to return, re-committed, when another blocked sock was revealed as one of the factors aggravating the FA pages this year. Maintaining standards in featured content requires vigilance, dedication and knowledge of people like you, who are needed; reviews are always welcome at FAC, FAR and TFA requests. Somehow, somehow we never ever seem to do nothin' completely nice and easy, but here's hoping that 2013 will see a peaceful road ahead and a return to the quality and comaraderie that defines the FA process, thanks to many dedicated Wikipedians! |
Hi, any chance by which you could have a look at this nom? —Vensatry (Ping me) 18:03, 5 January 2013 (UTC)
Goodness, that editor is hypersensitive to critique, and also very literal-- that attitude doesn't work at FAC. Would you prefer that I strike my oppose and step aside, or shall we try to keep going? Whatever is best ... we've always been able to bring articles over the hump together, but that person seems to have a bug about me, so if you want me uninvolve myself, I'll gladly do so. SandyGeorgia (Talk) 20:04, 5 January 2013 (UTC)
- Hi. I intend to get back to helping to review FAC's at some point but do not yet feel ready so this is a bit of a practice for me. I hope you don't mind but feel free to ignore me completely if you do.
- I saw this article mentioned on SandyGeorgia's page and took a brief look. The first two words in the Toponymy section, Numerous myths, caught my attention as being numerically vague. Firstly, you have enumerated only three of the numerous myths, leading the reader to wonder what other myths exist. Secondly, is Andrew Petersen's theory really a myth by definition? See 1. Myth n, in the OED which states in part: "...A traditional story, typically involving supernatural beings or forces, ..." "Myth". Oxford English Dictionary (Online ed.). Oxford University Press. (Subscription or participating institution membership required.)(subscription required) --Senra (talk) 18:28, 6 January 2013 (UTC)
- I agree. Indeed the word numerous was added just today during copyedit by another editor. Do you have any suggestion? "Many legends...", "several theories..." or a completely new sentence structure?--Dwaipayan (talk) 18:35, 6 January 2013 (UTC)
- Now you got me. Prose is not my strong point. Consider being precise as in "Two myths are known: firstly ... and secondly ..." not necessarily in one sentence of course. I hope that helps --Senra (talk) 18:41, 6 January 2013 (UTC)
- I don't think I'm ready to support an article for FA on a major city without book sources or without any actual information about any of its landmarks. The prose doesn't look too bad at all, but the time I think it'll take to research books and try to improve that aspect of it which I see as the flaw, I don't think it can be brought up to a level where everybody is happy in the meantime. I'll pass, sorry. Best of luck on it. I'm happy to work on it, but away from the spotlight.. I honestly don't think my copyedits would be enough to pass it. I'll add a further reading section for you though..
- In fairness the book coverage of the city for some reason seems to be extremely poor, none of the books are accessible through google books... ♦ Dr. ☠ Blofeld 20:36, 6 January 2013 (UTC)♦ Dr. ☠ Blofeld 19:02, 6 January 2013 (UTC)

- I feel unable at the moment to review any article to the standard necessary to pass a FAC due to my poor (but not zero) experience with the process. However, if it helps at all, I would be willing to review this entire article and make formal comments on the FAC page. I will not formally support or oppose. If you accept, I will base my review: on the latest version of the article at the time of my review; on Wikipedia:Manual of Style/India-related articles (or if not covered there on Wikipedia:Manual of Style) and on similar FA articles such as Belgrade, Canberra, Detroit, Manchester, San Francisco, Seattle and Washington, D.C. I was unable to find an India article equivalent of How to write about settlements. Do you know of such a guide?
- If you accept, let me know on my talk page --Senra (talk) 21:07, 6 January 2013 (UTC)
- Thank you for the invite. I have pulled out of the review due to the combative nature of the responses (both yours and previously Stfg's to other reviewers). Good luck with the article. I hope it gets featured. It is (overall) a nice article and will be a great addition to the Wikipedia Featured Article set --Senra (talk) 17:27, 7 January 2013 (UTC)
- You asked me to look at your recent changes to the Toponymy section of the article ...
- I urge you to use diacritics if they are sourced. Not in the article generally but in the Toponymy section
- I may be reading my Everett-Heath (2010) differently from your Everett-Heath (2005). My interpretation is that the city was originally called Bhāgnagar when it was a princely state. It was re-named Hyderābād, in honour of a 7th-century calif, in 1591. This is not how I read the present toponymy section. I would need to find another source to confirm this. Can I leave this to you?
- For the record, and as you can probably tell, I trust world-renown toponymists such as Everett-Heath, rather more than (e.g.) political sociologists such as McCann; particularly on the subject of place-names (see for example The place-name Ely)
- --Senra (talk) 20:25, 7 January 2013 (UTC)
- This source might help on toponymy but I can't see the whole book from the UK: Prasad, Dharmendra (1 January 1986). Social and Cultural Geography of Hyderabad City: A Historical Perspective. Inter-India Publications. ISBN 978-81-210-0045-1.. The book is reviewed here. Another source may be useful (this one is not WP:RS though but could usefully lead to RS sources) --Senra (talk) 20:35, 7 January 2013 (UTC)
