Request reason:

I understand now that insulting other users is a blockable offence. I did not know that this was forbidden when I insulted him. As I already stated on the arbitration page, I will not do it again, however it's obvious that this insult ban is used as a way to censor me, because the valid, cited information I put into the article goes against his agenda. I was not being disruptive with the article itself. Please unblock me. I want to continue contributing to this site.

Really philknight? This is the first time I've gotten into a dispute with anybody on wikipedia, I was not the only one to use insults (although mine were better ;) ), and I've made a promise that I'll never insult anybody again even if they insult me first. If you were to unblock me and I were to break a rule again, I would then not contest your decision to indefinitely block me. However, as it is right now, I feel that this is being very excessive; a user whose been posting for several years getting indefinitely banned for a short conflict with another user whose insults he has since recanted. Please give me a chance.

Huon, I did not "seriously" think that the edit summary linked above constitutes a "better" insult, I was trying to inject some humour (as evidenced by my winky face) in this ridiculous, overblown, and unnecessarily dramatic situation. If you took the time to familiarize yourself with the situation, you would see that the person I insulted was attacking my cited and factual contributions by actively censoring them no explanation; which I retaliated with by insulting him. I thought that his conduct was insult-worthy at the time, as would any sane individual who was not familiar with Wikipedia's "no-insult" rule, however I have since realized that what I did was wrong because this site does not allow for harsh words: which is why I will not use them again even if they are used against me, which they were during this ordeal.

Wikipedia is the place for me because my edit was constructive and brought a greater knowledge to the subject's topic. But, the fact that I insulted another user in the edit summary is regrettable, and I know that now.

Decline reason:

Under the circumstances, a Standard Offer approach could be taken in this case. PhilKnight (talk) 21:29, 24 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

If you seriously think the edit linked above constitutes a "better" insult, Wikipedia is not the place for you. The same goes if you need to be explicitly told that insulting other editors with homophobic slurs is not conductive to a collaborative editing environment.
