Name in red letters

Hi Dream--your name appears in red letters because your user page is still empty--you haven't created it yet. Look at the top of the page and you should see "User" in red letters. Book questions

Hi Aristophanes,

First of all, thanks for your last answers, so this time I have some relevant questions:

1. I created other username (very similar user because I thought I did something wrong but turned out it was ok) that I would like to delete or link to this current username. How can I do that?
   
2. I quickly have read the wikibook help of Wikipedia but still not is clear to me then please let me explain and ask: I am able to write a whole e-book of my own (authorship) but I would like using the resources (images, links, etc) from Wikipedia and full donating it to benefit of Wikipedia. So, I ask: This is possible? If yes, I need some support to do it (I also have to work for surviving and do not have much available time), what Wikipedia can do about that? Wikipedia can make like a publisher and grant (after published) some financial income for motivation?

You should only use one account. We do not delete accounts; you should choose one which you are going to use, and simply abandon the others and do not use them. If you like, you can put a note on their user pages to say that this is now your active account, but that is not necessary.

For your other questions: I am afraid you have not understood what Wikipedia is: it is a collaborative project to build an encyclopedia. The WP:Five pillars will tell you more.

For writing your book, you may use material from Wikipedia, subject to the license terms explained at WP:Copyrights. But Wikipedia is not a place to publish it: we do not publish original work. That is not what an encylopedia is for, and WP:No original research is one of our key policies. And certainly, Wikipedia will not pay you anything - this is an all-volunteer project, and no one is paid for their work or their contributions.

E-books and new projects

Hi Aristophanes. Recently I have put in my talk page some generic questions. Already got some answers, but surprisingly them were presented in a form rude, impolite and some parts very obvious. Some people really should assume good faith when talking with others or if incapable of that let this function for others with some empathy. However I am sure this conduct does not represent Wikipedia. I know this not is fault of anyone else but bad attitudes certainly does not help Wikipedia to make better.
So please let me reformulate the main question directly to you: Is there some project (or planning for that) in Wikipedia to publish e-books (authorship by volunteers) aiming full donation for benefit of Wikipedia? Thanks Aristophanes for your time.Dream of Nyx (talk) 18:53, 11 March 2011 (UTC)

I am sorry you found my reply discourteous - it was not intended to be.

All of the output of the Wikimedia Foundation's projects is made available to read online or to download free. Donations are welcomed, but they are not required in return for the materials produced.

There are two sorts of "books" which might be what you are asking about:

• Wikipedia, a collaborative project to build an encyclopedia, is only one of the Wikimedia Foundation's projects. There is also Wikibooks, which is about collaboratively writing (non-fiction) books. The results are made available as Open content, i.e. free. You can find out more at the Wikibooks Welcome page.
• Within the Wikipedia encyclopedia project, there are "Wikipedia-books", which are collections of articles from the encyclopedia. They are available to download free, but it is possible to order printed copies, which are prepared on a print-on-demand basis and have to be paid for - see Help:Books/Printed books. The money goes to the company which prints them, though they pay 10% of it to the Wikimedia Foundation.

See also sections

I see you are alphabetizing see also sections. That's great and a needed improvement. While you are at it, see also sections should not repeat links already present in the text of the article. I usually trim the list when alphabetizing. It would be great if you took this into account as well. Yworo (talk) 19:33, 19 July 2011 (UTC)
