Kermit High School Article Neutrality Question

[edit]

I just noticed a page that I regularly maintain was tagged as "The neutrality of this article is disputed" (as of September of 2011). I just wanted to know exacly how and why the article is in dispute since you left me no indication of what exactly was the issue in this case on the discussion page of the article. Please let me know what exactly is the issue is so that I can work on fixing it right away.

Also, I know the article is detailed, but I have never really heard of "too much information" on a site that is supposed to be educational. Just because a large number of people may not be interesting in Kermit HS doesn't mean we should limit the amount of information out there about it because someone might miss out on learning something that they may find interesting and/or educational. To my knowledge, there really is no irrelavent info in the article like your tag indicates. However, if you found such somewhere let me know so that I can correct it because I can sometimes overlook things too. Lastly, please consider removing your other tag which states, "This article may contain an excessive amount of intricate detail that may only interest a specific audience" because all this really tells me is that Wikipedia doesn't care about the details in articles that don't receive the attention of the whole world. I don't mean to be rude, but that last tag was just kind of insulting.

Branson Air Express 2011 01 10

[edit]

Just got a message of accusing me of disruptive editing, an being non Neutral. How was my edit none neutral? I allowed the edit of the navbox indicating it is an airline to remain, even though it is clearly NOT a Certificated Air Carrier (Airline).

Since I do not know how to make a navbox fully I was hoping someone could work with it to transfer it into one that would be easily transferable to the other navbox public charters of similar to the public charter that Branson Air Express is. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 166.183.168.207 (talk) 16:26, 10 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

List of Champ Car drivers who never qualified for a race

[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article List of Champ Car drivers who never qualified for a race, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. If you agree with the deletion of the article, and you are the only person who has made substantial edits to the page, please add {{db-author}} to the top of List of Champ Car drivers who never qualified for a race. Disputed fair use rationale for Image:WinstonWestern.JPG

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:WinstonWestern.JPG. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 03:30, 12 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Langhorne-race-sign.jpg

[edit]

Thank you for uploading Image:Langhorne-race-sign.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image under "fair use" may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the image description page and add or clarify the reason why the image qualifies for fair use. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a fair use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for images used under the fair use policy require both a copyright tag and a fair use rationale.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it might be deleted by adminstrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 13:22, 8 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I want to make sure that you know that there were 2 drivers with that name who were father and son. This article is about the son. I think the father was the famous sports car driver, so please check that the driver is from the right era. I think the father was known from his driving in the 1960s to 1970s, and the son from the 1980s. Royalbroil 03:30, 15 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know what your definition of "vanity" is. I do know that your removal of everything pertinent about this airport facility was way overboard. Apparently you have come to that realization, too. FYI, there is a community center there, and the Sunrise Side Woodcarvers had the event as reported in the Alcona County Review. The event is now past. I have no interest (pecuniary or otherwise) in any of these activities or enterprises. So from my point of view, I don't get your pejorative use of the term. In fact, I believe that in the context of the larger and more complete article, and the transformation of the airport form military to civilian uses, this item belongs here. Let me know what you think. Happy editing. 7&6=thirteen (talk) 02:10, 13 May 2008 (UTC) Stan[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Firestoneindylights.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:Firestoneindylights.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. I noticed your edit to the 1972 24 Hours of Le Mans regarding this driver. I'm not entirely sure if the source which you provided is necessarily correct, because two of the sources I use seem to say something different. Both the Le Mans Register and World Sports Racing Prototypes pages list Belanos as "DNS" for the 1972 race. From my understanding, this means he most likely practiced in the car, but was not assigned to drive. Granted, the #80 Kremer Porsche only lasted 39 laps, so it's possible that he simply did not get a chance to drive, but this is usually denoted on these two pages as "DND", for someone assigned to drive for the race but never getting an opportunity to get in the car.

My policy has always been to only assign the drivers which were meant to drive in the race and leaving out others who might have driven but had been dropped for various reasons. Are there any other sources which state that Bolanos was assigned to drive in the race? The359 (talk) 04:50, 24 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Notability of GiftZip

[edit]

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on GiftZip, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because GiftZip is an article about a certain website, blog, forum, or other web content that does not assert the importance or significance of that web location. Please read our criteria for speedy deletion, particularly item 7 under Articles, as well as notability guidelines for websites. Please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources which verify their content.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting GiftZip, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. Obama

[edit]

I have an outline of a lengthy and legitimate article at User:THF/Obama with not a single "nutball conspiracy theory" in it. I'll draft it off-wiki this weekend. I encourage editors to participate in this project by sending me sources (or perhaps fully drafted paragraphs) rather than battling at DRV or on the Talk:Obama page about intermediate stages. If we present a fully-sourced, well-written neutral article, there shouldn't be a problem -- and if there is, it will be pretty damning of Wikipedia. THF (talk) 15:45, 17 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion

[edit]

As you are aware, the whole point of speedies is that it does not involve lengthy discussions. WP:Athlete seems to apply to participants, unless I've misunderstood (in which case it needs to be clearer). This guy seems to be a engineer, not a participant. I'm not clear why that makes him notable - David Beckham may be notable, but that doesn't mean the guy who cleans his boots is. Also, there are no independent verifiable sources to show that he meets the notability guidelines. You are of course at liberty to recreate the article. jimfbleak (talk) 05:46, 19 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I noticed your comment on the talk page, about the missing pre-2005 drivers. Basically, I was going to stick them all under the Renault banner. It's similar to the GP2 Series/GP2 Asia Series drivers, who are all under the GP2 banner no matter which series they drive in. Similarly, the European F3 Open (née Spanish F3) drivers are all under the Spanish Formula Three banner. Hope that clears it up a little. Regards, Cs-wolves(talk) 00:49, 4 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

2010 race in Brazil

Actually, the "A1GP issue" IS related. The A1GP series have released their schedule with a race in the weekend of March 13-14 (the same weekend of the proposed IndyCar race). The IRL have yet to announce the venue for the race, so the event may go to A1GP or, as I've seen in another report, it could be a combined weekend. CSD tagging

[edit]

Hi Drsique, I hope you don't mind. but I've removed your speedy tag from Woodstock Sound-Outs: Roots of the 1969 Woodstock Festival, as no context is really for very short articles which just can't be put into context - a good guideline is that if you can categorise it then no context probably doesn't apply. Fire department photograhy

[edit]

Your PROD was removed by the original author. I suggest AfD. I'll vote to delete it you do. - Realkyhick (Talk to me) 04:15, 30 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Please advise me on how I could add the Fire Department Photography Wikipedia. I believe the site meets the criteria set forth for inclusion into the wikipedia community. Fire Department Photography is not an advertisement site or for profit organization. It is mainly a site dedicated to the Fire Service for informational purposes related to photography. I am not trying to promote the site as much as I am trying to promote the type of Photography. I thought it would be no different than lets say Sports Photography, Nature Photography, or Fashion Photography. It is just called Fire Department Photography. I don't own the web site: I was just trying to add it to the information list. Thought I would try my hand in Wikipedia.

The fire service as a whole has a long proud tradition related to its service to the community and uses photography to tell the story. That story is being captured through the use of the web site listed. Maybe a Wikipedia page is not warranted in this case. But each time I try to add the web site under links on Fire Photography it is deleted. I am trying to work within the rules posted but must be missing something. Please help me understand what I am doing wrong. Tctrenr (talk) 04:55, 30 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

CSD declined for James Maslow

[edit]

Hi! I've declined CSD for the article James Maslow as under the criteria of CSD A7, if there is any assertion of notability, no matter how small and unreferenced, the article is not a candidate for speedy deletion. My concerns about your tagging articles as WP:CSD A7

[edit]

Hi! I've just been through a number of articles you've tagged as CSD A7, and have declined all of them. Looking elsewhere on your talk page, I can see that others have been doing so. Could I please suggest that you review the criteria for notability and speedy deletion? It explicitly states: The criterion does not apply to any article that makes any credible claim of significance or importance even if the claim is not supported by a reliable source.

In other words, even if an article is unreferenced, but makes some statement about how it is notable, then it is not a candidate for speedy deletion. One of the bands you tagged stated that it had been awarded the 2008 High Times Magazine “Doobie Award” for best new underground artist. That is a credible assertion of notability. If it were to go to AFD, it may be decided that this is not sufficient notability, and that the article should still be deleted. In which case so be it; that is what AFD is there for. CSD criteria are deliberately narrow to prevent new unreferenced and short articles being deleted without being given a fair chance.

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to drop me a note. Stephen! Coming... 00:11, 1 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Scott Harrington article and mention of his DUIs

[edit]

Based on the amount of resistance you're getting to including the text about Scott Harrington's DUI arrests, I'd suggest opening a talk page discussion about whether to include the text and, if so, how. There might be more support for a reworded mention. —C.Fred (talk) 23:37, 13 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Going back far enough, I see User:Tired66 contributing to the article. While Harrington's racing number is not mentioned in the article, I can see your conclusion that that user has a COI, and I accept it as a reasonable conclusion. I have opened discussion on the talk page. For the record, your revert was the last thing time-stamped before my message, in case the last sentence of my comment comes into play. —C.Fred (talk) 23:49, 13 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Unreferenced BLPs

Hello Drdisque! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 35 of the articles that you created are tagged as Unreferenced Biographies of Living Persons. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. Request for undeleting Cyberoam Security certifications

[edit]

This happened too fast. Today morning I received a speedy deletion tag on Cyberoam Security certificationsfrom you or someone else which alleged that the page was promotional. I tried to contest the tag by adding this: {{hangon}}. I was open to constructive suggestions in the user talk page and would have edited the whole article but before I could react, the article was speedily deleted by Fastily (talk · contribs). I request that I be allowed to rewrite this article. It is not promotional in intent. It's just a training and certification page which has substantial presence in Google. There are several other pages on wikipedia that have similar contents to the one that has been deleted. Check this page to verify a complete list Professional_certification_(computer_technology)

Please note the Cyberoam Security certifications page is no different from Juniper_Networks_Technical_Certification_Program, Zend_Certified_Engineer and other certification pages. They all revolve around certification courses that are fairly popular on Google. None of them are as famous as the one that has been deleted. I want a way to rewrite the deleted article again if there is a concern of unnecessary promotion. It can be trimmed down. --

BOKU mobile payments page - request for deletion?

[edit]

Hi There,

I'm a relatively new Wikipedian, and I wanted to try and get more engaged. I submitted an article today on BOKU mobile payments (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BOKU_mobile_payments). One of the editors, @Drdisque submitted the article for deletion. Another editor, @Quarl, declined that request, but turned it over to the AFD. I wanted to ask for clarification on why it was requested for deletion, and what process occurs now.

I think the article keeps a generally neutral tone, is factual, and has multiple external sources from major reference websites including the NYT, WSJ, Business Week and more. Those external sources corroborate the facts in the article, and suggest to me that the topic is broadly interesting enough to warrant a Wikipedia entry. Would you mind clarifying any concerns about the page, and suggesting what I should do to make it better?

Wikipedia Ambassador Program at MSU

[edit]

Hi! I'm leaving you this message because you're listed as a Wikipedian associated with Michigan State University. The Wikipedia Ambassador Program is currently looking for Campus Ambassadors to help with Wikipedia assignments at MSU, which will be participating in the Public Policy Initiative for the Spring 2011 semester. The role of Campus Ambassadors will be to provide face-to-face training and support for students on Wikipedia-related skills (how to edit articles, how to add references, etc.). This includes doing in-class presentations, running workshops and labs, possibly holding office hours, and in general providing in-person mentorship for students.

Prior Wikipedia skills are not required for the role, as training will be provided for all Campus Ambassadors (although, of course, being an experienced editor is a plus).

If you are interested in being a Wikipedia Campus Ambassador, or know someone in the East Lansing area who might be, please email me or leave a message on my talk page.--Sage Ross - Online Facilitator, Wikimedia Foundation (talk) 20:24, 1 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion of David Gunkel: David Gunkel

[edit]

In regards to the article on David Gunkel, it's profoundly clear you a) didn't read the article, b) as an engineer, are unconcerned with the prominence of communications in order to do a simple notability search on Gunkel and his work. It's this percieved provinciality of self-deluded Wikipedians as to why I hate contributing at times. Thanks for making the process not only arduous, but unenjoyable, you self-important tool. oshaberi —Preceding undated comment added 06:09, 10 December 2010 (UTC).[reply]

I owe you an apology for giving the impression I thought you had acted in bad faith. That wasn't my intention, my criticism was directed at your hasty judgment that set in motion a process that's important and valuable when used appropriately but can also be disruptive and destructive.

Even if an article appears short of substance, if it's not obviously abusive or trivial the fact that someone went to the effort of creating it should suggest the possibility that the subject is of some significance. English is still a lingua franca and many people who use Wikipedia are not native English speakers. Non-English speakers are often aware of the notability of a subject not previously mentioned on Wikipedia but may not be able to create a lengthy or polished article.

We at the "Anglo-Saxon" end of the universe are often ignorant about the ways and practices of the non-English speaking world, not to mention what is or isn't important there and what might or might not be important to us too. We fall back on the assumption that our framework of understanding is the same as other people's. We are often unaware of significant differences in the conventions that affect the way information is organised elsewhere. For example the French custom of often putting the surname first, followed by the forename, or the difference in the way Spaniards and Portuguese order their maternal and paternal surname. Which is just a starter, without considering the non-Roman/transcribed world. We need to be aware that we may be looking at the world through a narrowly focused prism.

Equally English-language contributors may consider a stub better than no article at all. Stubs and "less than complete" articles serve two functions - they offer a starting point for further investigation and - certainly in my case - they often serve to stimulate efforts to make an article we come across more comprehensive and useful. Unfortunately I've got too much else to concern me at the moment inside and outside Wikipedia to be able to follow up the Elwalid Succariyeh article but like others it will hover at the back of my consciousness until one day with a bit of free time hopefully I'll manage to incorporate some of the Walid Succariyeh information.

In addition removing a stub may have consequences elsewhere. If you are trying to put together an article that involves elements that are important in their own right but shouldn't have too much time devoted to them in the article you're working on, creating a stub allows relevant information to be located elsewhere for consultation via a link while also creating the starting-point for an independent article. Without the stub the original article would be cluttered up with tangential, essentially redundant, information. Removing the stub destroys the structure of decentralised but interlocking sources of information.

That's the technical side of the issue. The reason for my impatience was the way more than a few people I have encountered on Wikipedia almost take a joy in removing articles that offer a slightly opened window onto a world they prefer not to look at unless it is packaged in a homogeneous and recognisable form, and without being bothered by the impact of their actions on other Wikipedia contributors and users.

You explained what you had done reasonably and sensibly, and you didn't resort to the use of Wikipedia guidelines as a weapon of destruction rather than a useful tool to combat abuse and trivialisation. The intensity of my criticism was due to my previous experience of aggressive AfDers who seem determined to impose respect for their version of a rule-book rather than help and encourage the making of knowledge available in a useful form, and as a result often deter others from contributing.

I'm robust enough not to be intimidated, unlike some less inexperienced contributors. My experience of misuse of the dictum that we should assume good faith at Wikipedia has, sadly, left me reluctant to acknowledge its universal appropriateness. Aggression and vandalism may be the product of good faith rooted in certainty and disrespect for others. I don't get involved with AfDs simply for the sake of an argument. To me Wikipedia is intended to be a constructive, cooperative endeavour. Too often it's been clear to me that a central element of the AfD process has been disrespect for the efforts and approach of others. Hence the lack of patience that led me to be more forceful than I might otherwise have been.

In this instance I'd also come fresh from having spent a lot of effort last week responding to the appeal to help clean up the backlog of BLPs only to find the next morning that the article I'd worked on - another "foreign" candidate for deletion - had been dumped without even the courtesy of informed by the deleter why all the effort involved was considered useless. It's back now, but this happens too often. It makes me angry to see how other contributors give up. Too many constructive people end up walking away from Wikipedia.

So, I'm sorry if I was more aggressive in the way I put my criticism than I perhaps should have been and I appreciated your civil response. Opbeith (talk) 11:27, 20 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Your edits of Scott Mayer's Wikipedia Page

[edit]

Hello- I am rather new to wikipedia and was hoping you can provide information as to why you keep editing the page of Scott Mayer. I added business information to his page that is factual and you reverted it back- please explain why. I am not trying to be confrontational, but I do not understand your reasoning. Please advise. Awall913 (talk) 15:34, 16 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The article Scott Maxwell (soccer) has been proposed for deletion because under Wikipedia policy, all biographies of living persons created after March 18, 2010, must have at least one source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't take offense. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Wikipedia:Referencing for beginners or ask at Wikipedia:Help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within ten days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. John Brooks Page Questions

[edit]

Hi there, first of all, thank you for creating more complete page for John Brooks. I just had a couple of 'newbie' questions to ask to get better here on WP- Why was he removed from the category champ car drivers? Do drivers who attempt to qualify for a race not make that list? Second one- Should the WikiProject AOWR be added to every page that involves AOWR, or where would I find the standards for that? Thanks again for your contribution to Wikipedia! Star Mazda Championship

[edit]

I have been watching the three pages that I PRODed before. I see how much effort you put into these but it still does not convince me that they belong in WP in their current form. I have asked some editors to look at this and share their thoughts, which you can find right here. Pls. have a look there and share your thoughts about the pre-2010 years of this championship. Would you object to merge them into a "pre-2010 Star Mazda Championship" article? Also, how about adding more prose like Noleander suggests? I'm sure there's much more to tell and it would lift the articles above the "just some old sports results" status. Thanks, --DeVerm (talk) 22:34, 30 July 2011 (UTC).[reply]

Notes on COI

[edit]

I had noticed a lack of sources and some inaccuracies on the page that was created that you referenced in your note to me. While I do have a close knowledge of the subject, it seems these corrections / additions are helping to bring the page into better agreement with the content policy. Can you advise of anything in particular that ou find objectionable?

A tool for you!

[edit]

Hi Drdisque! I've just come across one of your edits (or that you have been patrolling new pages), and noticed that you might appreciate some help with references.

I case you're not aware, you might consider using this tool – it makes your life a whole heap easier, by filling in complete citation templates for your links. All you do is install the script:

// Add [[WP:Reflinks]] launcher in the toolbox on left
addOnloadHook(function () {
 addPortletLink(
  "p-tb", // toolbox portlet
  "http://toolserver.org/~dispenser/cgi-bin/webreflinks.py/" + wgPageName
   + "?client=script&citeweb=on&overwrite=&limit=30&lang=" + wgContentLanguage,
  "Reflinks" // link label
)});

onto Special:MyPage/skin.js, then paste the bare URL between your <ref></ref> tabs, and you'll find a clickable link called Reflinks in your toolbox section of the page (probably in the left hand column). Then click that tool. It does all the rest of the work (provided that you remember to save the page! It doesn't work for everything (particularly often not for PDF documents), but for pretty much anything ending in "htm" or "html" (and with a title) it will do really, really well. You may consider taking on Category:Articles needing link rot cleanup. So long! --Sp33dyphil ©© 09:33, 2 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Vilza Fenz

[edit]

I noticed you changed the notability tag I put on Vilza Fenz. I put that there because there is no record I can find that this person wrestled for WWE--or for anything else for that matter. If you have any information otherwise, please let me know. If I can't find anything, I will nominate this for speedy deletion as a hoax. Michitaro (talk) 03:19, 14 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the quick response. I had noticed in the history of some related articles that Vilza Fenz was sometimes piped to Sumie Suzuki, but those were then eliminated and this new article created. The two have different birthdays and records, though a few things overlap (though do note that the Suzuki article has been significantly rewritten over the last week by the same user who created Vilza Fenz and by a couple IPs). What is your evidence they are one and the same person? Should we call for an AfD of Vilza Fenz? Michitaro (talk) 03:54, 14 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hello! I think that you do not understand, that majority of Star Mazda Championship teams and drivers not match WP:Notability criteria (e.g. race winners (!) Alex Ardoin, Caio Lara). So they will never receive an article. Therefore per WP:RED: Do not create red links to articles that will likely never be created. Lack of links to articles that are not likely to created has almost no effect on the growth of Wikipedia. P.S. Maybe it will be better to discuss here? Hi. When you recently edited 2012 Indy Lights season, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Freightliner (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Invitation to wikiFeed

[edit]

Hello Drdisque,

I'm part of a team that is researching ways to help Wikipedia editors find interesting content to contribute to Wikipedia. More specifically, we are investigating whether content from news sources can be used to enhance Wikipedia editing. We have created a tool, called wikiFeed, that allows you to specify Twitter and/or RSS feeds from news sources that are interesting to you. wikiFeed then helps you make connections between those feeds and Wikipedia articles. We believe that using this tool may be a lot of fun, and may help you come up with some ideas on how to contribute to Wikipedia in ways that interest you. Please participate! To do so, complete this survey and follow this link to our website. Once you're there, click the "create an account" link to get started.

For more information about wikiFeed, visit our project page. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask via my talk page, or by email at wikifeedcc@gmail.com. We appreciate your time and hope you enjoy playing with wikiFeed!

Nomination of Bicycle Shaped Object for deletion

[edit]

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Bicycle Shaped Object is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Bicycle Shaped Object (2nd nomination) until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion template from the top of the article. --Dennis Bratland (talk) 02:02, 13 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

December 2012

[edit]

I'm a novice at editing on Wiki, but I object to the proposed deletion of Anthony Mayman bio. The idea that only professional drivers or series should be noted is misguided. The majority of drivers in historic racing are amateurs, and there are very few recognized series so far for this category. However, their popularity with the public is greater than many "professional" series with the exception of Nascar and F1. Goodwood Revival, Monterey Historics, Nurburgring "Old Timer", Silverstone Classic etc all draw huge crowds. Mayman was one of the most notable drivers of the early historic period. The article is not mine, but the statement that it is not cross referenced is also incorrect. I am a Brit who lived in the US all my life, but stay in touch with historic racing around the world. Perhaps your editorial leanings are a little US-centric even though you have clearly traveled a lot? Jmh10 (talk) 23:50, 6 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
