My userpage

[edit]

Thanks a lot for fixing up my user page! It is nice to know someone reads it, and even better to know it contains a least one fewer errors :) Thanks again. --best, kevin ···Kzollman | Talk··· 00:39, 27 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Barnstar

[edit]

I hearby award you this anti-vandalism barnstar for reverting my act of vandalism and taking my insulting comment in a good way. I will, however, keep redirecting his page to NAMBLA on a, say, weekly basis, and partly this award is for you (presumably) putting his page on your watch list and looking out for me. He does, after all, deserve it. 84.9.71.52 01:34, 6 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

You marked User:CR7 for speedy deletion; could I ask why? Normally, one isn't supposed to get other people's user pages deleted. DS 14:18, 11 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

RuneScape cheats, please help

[edit]

Thank you for helping control vandalism to the article. Jagex, the company that makes RuneScape is trying to delete the article again this time saying the information is POV, illegal and instructional. Hong Kong Secondary Students Union

[edit]

Regarding your comment at the Afd pages: The HKSSU is a notable student organisation. The Union and its members are active in Hong Kong politics. — Instantnood 12:52, 6 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your reply. The above was made in response to your comment on the AFD pages, that the union and the members are not notable. I have forwarded your opinion on my talk page to the major contributor of these articles. — Instantnood 14:24, 6 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Since the articles on its notable members are all speedied, I'm interested to know how the content can be merged into the article on the union. — Instantnood 17:46, 8 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Litoria chloris

[edit]

Can I have a reason why you reverted my edit to Litoria chloris? The article to which you reverted it is a copy-pasted news article which is not acceptable for Wikipedia. I was about to expand the article, and I always start with a taxobox. --liquidGhoul 10:05, 3 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Human psychology

I've made a suggestion, please comment - thanks. KillerChihuahua?!? 10:16, 9 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks much for your (very prompt) feedback, would you pleast post that to the discussion on Talk:Human? It should be with the article so there is history of input and consensus there, in one place, so editors are aware of different input. Thanks much! Oh, I see you were doing that while I was posting here - thanks again. KillerChihuahua?!? 10:29, 9 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Participant alert regarding Wikiproject on Advertising

[edit]

The Wikiproject No Ads, created as a backlash against the Answers.com deal, has served an important function in providing a space for users to express their disagreement with the Foundation proposal. While the current controversies about userboxes raise questions about political and social advocacy on Wikipedia, there should be greater flexibility regarding advocacy about Wikipedia in the Wikipedia namespace. Reported and linked by Slashdot and other press sources as a unique and spontaneous occurence in Wikipedia history, it has apparently had some impact as, despite being scheduled to begin in January, not a peep has been heard about the trial and proposed sponsored link since the deal's controversial announcement months ago. Currently, however, there is an attempt to delete the project or move it off Wikipedia altogether. Since the Foundation has provided no additional information and has not attempted to answer the specific questions that participants in the project raised, it is unclear if the Answers.com deal has been abandoned or simply delayed. Until the situation becomes more clear, I believe the group should still have a place in the Wikipedia namespace. Sincerely, Tfine80 23:58, 9 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Girl, Interrupted Controversy

[edit]

Hey. A little while back I rewrote the Girl, Interrupted page to a higher quality than it was and since I guess I've been "guarding it." When 66.252.37.47 added the "controversy" I sent them a message about needing a citation, which they have yet to respond to. I was planning on removing it in a few days... but thanks for the attention. Poisonouslizzie 21:52, 9 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Reminder

[edit]
When using template tags on talk pages, don't forget to substitute with text by adding subst: to the template tag. For example, use {{subst:test}} instead of {{test}}. This reduces server load and prevents accidental blanking of the template.

VandalProof 1.2 Now Available

[edit]

After a lenghty, but much-needed Wikibreak, I'm happy to announce that version 1.2 of VandalProof is now available for download! Beyond fixing some of the most obnoxious bugs, like the persistent crash on start-up that many have experienced, version 1.2 also offers a wide variety of new features, including a stub-sorter, a global user whitelist and blacklist, navigational controls, and greater customization. You can find a full list of the new features here. While I believe this release to be a significant improvement over the last, it's nonetheless nowhere near the end of the line for VandalProof. Thanks to Rob Church, I now have an account on test.wikipedia.org with SysOp rights and have already been hard at work incorporating administrative tools into VandalProof, which I plan to make available in the near future. An example of one such SysOp tool that I'm working on incorporating is my simple history merge tool, which simplifies the process of performing history merges from one article into another. Anyway, if you haven't already, I'd encourage you to download and install version 1.2 and take it out for a test-drive. As always, your suggestions for improvement are always appreciated, and I hope that you will find this new version useful. Happy editing! --AmiDaniel (talk) 02:17, 21 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Invite to CLINMED et al.

[edit]

I've noticed that you've been editing medicine related articles -- from your contributions. We have a place where the medically minded people hang out: WikiProject "Clinical Medicine". You are invited to join or just browse the talk page, which is also known as the doctors' mess.

If you have an interest in nephrology, radiology, GI or pre-clinical medicine-- there are projects specifically for those things. I have the impression you're interested in psychiatry and/or psychology-- you're welcome to start a WikiProject on that.

If you're looking for info on how to do references see WP:CLINMED/Writing_medical_articles. I look forward to more of your edits. Nephron  T|C 05:21, 6 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Kosovo: country debate

[edit]

Hello. There's a discussion going on Talk:List of countries as to whether or not Kosovo should be included in that list. You have an interest in Serbia-related articles and I thought you might be interested. The articles List of countries and Annex to the list of countries (where the inclusion criteria reside) are both relevant. Cheers. DSuser 13:38, 28 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi again. It's probably a minor point, but there a discussion and vote going on at Talk:Kosovo#Kosovo:_terminology as to whether or not it's better to use Kosovo rather than Kosovan or Kosovar in the Wikipedia articles. Perhaps you have no interest, in which case sorry to bother you! DSuser 15:51, 31 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Manu Feildel

[edit]

Hi. The article Manu Fieldel, which you created in November of 2005, was tagged as a copyright concern and listed at the copyright problems board at Wikipedia:Copyright problems/2009 June 2. However, the source identified, http://9am.ten.com.au/manu-feidel.htm, was not that which you used. I have located through archives that original source here, and it seems that you did rewrite some material in your own words, but the impact of the whole is a close paraphrase that incorporates some straightforward runs of text from the original. For example, the source says:

your article said:

His first job in London was at the Cafe Royal. Life was difficult, as he spoke no English, but his perserverance paid off and saw him work at places such as Les Associes and Cafe des Amis du Vin. After this, Feildel took up position as Chef de Partie at Livebait, the seafood restaurant nominated as the best in the UK in 1998. Feildel says that it was at this time he really began to understand and love the career he had chosen.

The United States copyright law which governs Wikipedia does not protect facts, but it does protect creative expression of facts including such features as language ("he really began to understand and love the career he had chosen"; "his perseverance paid off") and structure. Close paraphrases of this kind are likely to constitute "substantial similarity" and hence infringe on the copyright of the original.

I realize that it has been quite some time since this material was placed. It's also been many months since you last logged in. Concerns with this particular article will likely have been long addressed by the time you receive this note. But if you have any questions about how to paraphrase to avoid copyright infringement, please let me know at my talk page. You can also glance at our copyright FAQ and a helpful user essay on the subject, Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 19:24, 10 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
