September 2007

Welcome to Wikipedia. Please do not remove speedy deletion tags from articles that you have created yourself, as you did with Broadzilla. If you do not believe the article should be deleted, then please place {{hangon}} on the page (please do not remove any existing speedy deletion tag) and make your case on the article's talk page. Administrators will look at your reasoning before deciding what to do with the article. Thank you. Danski14(talk) 17:22, 6 September 2007 (UTC)

License tagging for Image:Motorpsychos motorpsychos.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Motorpsychos motorpsychos.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. --OrphanBot (talk) 17:07, 21 November 2007 (UTC)

Speedy deletion of Broadzilla (album)

A tag has been placed on Broadzilla (album) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a band, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for musical topics.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the article (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. AfD nomination of Broadzilla (album)

Broadzilla (album), an article you created, has been nominated for deletion. We appreciate your contributions. However, an editor does not feel that Broadzilla (album) satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in the nomination space (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and the Wikipedia deletion policy). Your opinions on the matter are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Broadzilla (album) and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). You are free to edit the content of Broadzilla (album) during the discussion but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion discussion. Thank you. — Coren (talk) 18:23, 1 December 2007 (UTC)

Funkadelic

Thank you for the significant improvements you made. I added Template:P-Funk to the bottom of the new article about the Funkadelic live album (great article, by the way). The P-Funk template has links to all the P-Funk related articles.

At some point, we'll also update the infobox in the top right of the new article to point to the previous Funkadelic album (Connections & Disconnections) and the subsequent album (By Way of the Drum). Those articles' infoboxes will also be revised.

In the meantime, any contributions you can make would be greatly appreciated. Many of the P-Funk articles are pretty awful (Pedro Bell, for example) and others can use some a lot of help.

Thanks again. — Malik Shabazz (talk · contribs) 19:55, 15 July 2008 (UTC)

Good question about the chronology. I think it goes by release date. Template:Infobox Album#Chronology says that live albums are usually left off the chronology, but that isn't what I've seen with other bands.
For guidance, I looked at the Grateful Dead, who have released a lot of live CDs from their archives. They seem to be in order of release. See Hundred Year Hall, for example. — Malik Shabazz (talk · contribs) 17:43, 17 July 2008 (UTC)

The Wildhearts: Help Me with Neutrality Question!

{{helpme}}

Wiki Editors, please see this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:The_Wildhearts#Neutrality_Question_from_May_2008

For The Wildhearts, the article has had a neutrality question for six months, with nobody apparently discussing it except me. Today I made major revisions to this article and removed a significant amount of fan-style material that probably inspired the original neutrality question. Since I'm the only one discussing the article's neutrality, I would conclude that I fixed it today. Wiki Editors, please advise on how we can declare the issue "resolved" and remove the POV tag. Thanks! Doomsdayer520 (talk) 21:15, 9 November 2008 (UTC)

Just leave a note on the page saying you're removing it as you feel it is resolved, wait a day, and remove if there's no objection. Good job on being so conscientious! [roux » x] 21:17, 9 November 2008 (UTC)

Second in three days due to my association with two different vandals! Something is wrong with my university network. Please unblock me. Thanks. Doomsdayer520 (talk) 12:59, 7 October 2009 (UTC)

I have granted your account an exemption from IP blocking. This will allow you to edit through full blocks affecting your IP address when you are logged in.

Please read the page Wikipedia:IP block exemption carefully, especially the section on IP block exemption conditions.

Note in particular that you are not permitted to use this newly-granted right to edit Wikipedia via anonymous proxies, or disruptively. If you do, or there is a serious concern of abuse, then the right may be removed by any administrator.

Appropriate usage and compliance with the policy may be checked periodically, due to the nature of block exemption, and block exemption will be removed when no longer needed (for example, when the block it is related to expires).

I hope this will enhance your editing, and allow you to edit successfully and without disruption. Daniel Case (talk) 13:17, 7 October 2009 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free image File:The Modern Electric.jpg

⚠

Thanks for uploading File:The Modern Electric.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of "file" pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Broadzilla Promo.jpg

Thank you for uploading File:Broadzilla Promo.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. Angus McLellan (Talk) 21:36, 13 December 2009 (UTC)

File:HammerGods2008.jpg (moved from talk page)

{{helpme}}

I accidentally uploaded four different versions of this image file, for two different reasons (stupidity then computer malfunction). I can't justify all the server space I am wasting, so will an admin please delete all of the redundant versions of this file. Just keep the one that is currently being used in the associated article. Thanks! Doomsdayer520 (Talk|Contribs) 10:13, 16 December 2009 (UTC)

Really isn't a point here. Don't worry about performance. Besides, deleting old versions wouldn't save server space since the deleted versions are still there - just hidden from public view. It will probably take a developer to actually remove the file - all for (at best) several hundred kilobytes of free space. In fact, this thread now is probably taking up more space than obliterating the old revisions will free... Tim Song (talk) 10:22, 16 December 2009 (UTC)

Replaceable fair use File:Motorpsychos Promo.gif

Thanks for uploading File:Motorpsychos Promo.gif. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Aspects (talk) 23:33, 23 December 2009 (UTC)

Notability criteria/Z-Chen deletion

Hi, I read the deletion discussion on Z-Chen. What's the general rule about notability? Does the person/band need to be extensively covered in the English language press/internet in order to be included in English Wikipedia? I know he's well known in Asia and also the Asian-American/Chinese-American communities, and have seen some of his music videos. There are many other Mandopop artists that obviously would not be well known in the English speaking world, but they have Eng. Wikpedia articles. (E.g. Leehom Wang, Rainie Yang, etc.) --Mistakefinder (talk) 08:04, 25 January 2010 (UTC)

Double-barrel Shotgun Messiah AfDs

Point taken. An article that is blindfolded and smoking its last cigarette at AfD deserves better than a copy and paste critique. Still, they're as alike as two peas in a pod. Yappy2bhere (talk) 07:03, 1 February 2010 (UTC)

Hi, you rated this article a few days ago and since then a lot of progress has been made on the page. Would you mind re-assessing the article? Etincelles (talk) 21:35, 1 February 2010 (UTC)

Thanks Etincelles (talk) 16:12, 2 February 2010 (UTC)

Can you give me some tips/improvements to get the article to GA-Class. Etincelles (talk) 14:07, 7 February 2010 (UTC)

Dear Etincelles: Achieving "GA" status is a very big deal at Wikipedia, and the same is true for the Discographies Project. I am a member of that project and each person can assign grades up to "B" pretty easily. But as far as I can tell no musician's discography article has achieved "GA" status (that has happened for music associated with video games), but many discographies have reached FL (featured list) status. See Wikipedia:Version 1.0 Editorial Team/Assessment for details. In any case, for an article to reach that high usually requires some community involvement. You may want to call for assistance and recommendations for the improvement of Vladimir's discography at the project talk page. Kudos for all your hard work on the articles about this man's accomplished career. DOOMSDAYER520 (Talk|Contribs) 16:40, 8 February 2010 (UTC)

And here's another possible option: Wikipedia:Peer review. DOOMSDAYER520 (Talk|Contribs) 16:53, 8 February 2010 (UTC)
Thanks, I got a bit confused about the ranking system but I have now nominated the page for featured list. Etincelles (talk) 08:10, 9 February 2010 (UTC)

Repeating the same accusation

Is repeating the same accusation of "nitpicking" over and over really AGF? Oh, wait, you never did AGF. You jumped straight to your insulting characterization and just repeated it over and over. Niteshift36 (talk) 20:08, 7 February 2010 (UTC)

  • BTW, despite being so "stiff and unyielding", I have withdrawn AfD's in the past when circumstances changed or when other editors convinced me that I was looking at it wrong. I recently ended up in DRV because I withdrew a nom and another editor wanted it to go to the end. (That review was rejected). Maybe if you knew more about me, you'd stop characterizing me the way you do. Niteshift36 (talk) 20:25, 7 February 2010 (UTC)
  • The Great Indie Discography is viewable online. [1] As far as the albums go, it is little more than a title listing, date and label. Not even full sentences for each album. But we're calling it significant. Niteshift36 (talk) 07:07, 8 February 2010 (UTC)

Second AfD Process

{{helpme}}

I have discovered an article about an album, Thug Motivation 103, that was created after an article about the same topic was deleted in the AfD process, Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Thug Motivation 103. I assume the original article was deleted by the admin around 2 Aug 2009, and the current version of the article was created about two months later. The situation behind this unreleased album has not changed: WP:CRYSTAL, WP:HAMMER, WP:V, and WP:NALBUMS are all issues. I attempted to start the AfD process for the current version of the article but keep getting directed to the deletion discussion page for the supposedly closed original AfD. Not sure if this is a glitch. But in any case please provide instructions for completing a second AfD, which I am having trouble finding. Thanks. DOOMSDAYER520 (Talk|Contribs) 18:57, 10 February 2010 (UTC)

See Wikipedia:AFD#How_to_list_pages_for_deletion. You need to use {{afdx}} and specify that this is the second nomination, not the first. --Shirik (Questions or Comments?) 19:03, 10 February 2010 (UTC)

10/11 codes

Obviously Ten-code is a valid article, but what can I do about 10_codes#List_of_ten-codes if I would delete it, and it was reverted? CTJF83 chat 19:42, 10 February 2010 (UTC)

Yeesh. While investigating for my vote on the AfD you started today, I read through some of these pages but failed to notice how the level of detail is spiraling out of control. I don't know if every little piece of detail in these articles is notable, but admittedly I am not an expert in police and emergency codes. Not sure how to answer your question... perhaps you could discuss WP:SIZE or even WP:CRUFT (geekcruft, at least) at Talk:Ten-code. Maybe your AfD (and suggestions for more AfD's) could be discussed at Wikipedia:WikiProject Deletion sorting/Crime, Wikipedia:WikiProject Deletion sorting/Radio, Wikipedia:WikiProject Deletion sorting/Science or whatever is appropriate and people who participate on those pages regularly could chew the fat. I'm just kind of thinking out loud though... DOOMSDAYER520 (Talk|Contribs) 20:00, 10 February 2010 (UTC)

Just wondering why the files under Category:Doctor Who soundtrack covers had {{Albums}}, which placed them in the above, removed. Thanks, - J Greb (talk) 16:58, 6 March 2010 (UTC)

That was merely for consistency. There are tens of thousands of album articles in the Albums Project and the articles themselves are covered by the project volunteers. But the image files for album covers do not need the {{Albums}} tag because there are tens of thousands of them too and I'm pretty sure this decision was made long ago for manageability purposes. Only a few had been given that tag erroneously, including that group of files for the Doctor Who soundtracks. So I removed the {{Albums}} tags from the image files per precedent at the Albums Project, but the parent articles for the soundtrack albums are still included. Also, the fact that the image files are included in the Doctor Who project means there are plenty of dedicated volunteers managing them. DOOMSDAYER520 (Talk|Contribs) 17:20, 6 March 2010 (UTC)

Rumoured Raven-Symoné albums for $600 please, Alex

Per your comment at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Raven-symoné's 5th studio album: I think the prior AfD you were looking for is Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Raining Money Outside. I've speedy deleted the new article as a result of finding it. —C.Fred (talk) 01:16, 14 March 2010 (UTC)

Yep, that's the one I was thinking of. I thought it might be a "slightly different title" but was confused by two other recent multi-AfD's in which article creators tried the trick of uncapitalizing one word or whatever. Thanks for tracking down that not-so-old AfD. Speedy delete was the way to go today. How long do you think it will be till the next article for a rumoured Raven-Symoné album? Redirect-Class Album articles

If redirects shouldn't be tagged with {{WikiProject Albums}} ([2][3]), should Category:Redirect-Class Album articles be deleted? -- Black Falcon (talk) 22:38, 28 March 2010 (UTC)

Thank you for clarifying. I understand the rationale for not categorizing Redirect-Class pages and of course respect that each project should choose for itself whether it does or does not (the existence of Category:Redirect-Class Album articles led me to believe that WikiProject Albums was one of the projects that did categorize redirects). Thanks again, -- Black Falcon (talk) 17:53, 29 March 2010 (UTC)

Re: joe brucato article

Please give me a notice with what may be done to improve the article, I did what was asked. I removed the ref to that musicians website. As he is now a national artist, more may come about in the way of reference points, but otherwise, short of adding CDNOW or CDBABY as a link, I do not know what more you mean by self published references, there are none of those.... —Preceding unsigned comment added by Bestmusicexpert (talkcontribs) 01:07, 23 April 2010 (UTC)

Cave In discography

Hello! You recently rated Cave In discography as a C-class article, and also claimed that it's already not too far from B-class. I was curious, what improvements could be made to raise the article to a B-class? Thanks! Fezmar9 (talk) 01:30, 22 June 2010 (UTC)

Fezmar, at first my opinion was that the article needed a little more variety with the sources/references. For example, while there are many references, sources like AllMusic and Billboard keep popping up again and again. But now that you've asked, I read the article again and there are probably not too many other sources available for a band of that nature. Overall the article is very well done. I think I'll just go ahead and change the rating to B since a lot of work has gone into it. Note that this is just a volunteer assessment by me and anyone else could change it. But the folks at WP:DISCOGRAPHY are serious about this stuff so you could get some pointers at the Project page if you'd like to make the article even better. See also Wikipedia:Version 1.0 Editorial Team/Assessment. --DOOMSDAYER520 (Talk|Contribs) 15:58, 22 June 2010 (UTC)
I also just noticed in a different discussion that Cannibaloki suggested that you nominate the Cave In Discography for Featured List status. That's a big-time effort but once again you can check with the folks at the WP:DISCOGRAPHY project. --DOOMSDAYER520 (Talk|Contribs) 16:01, 22 June 2010 (UTC)

The Holmes Brothers

Hi, I just saw the nice note you left about the photos for the article you started about the Holmes Brothers and thought I might mention that a couple of years ago I just got so fed up with all these musician's biography articles that had no photos, that I began my own personal crusade to add them. I've uploaded about 400 photos of musicians via Creative Commons and the kind permission of every photographer I email to get those CC-BY-SA licenses for Wikimedia Commons uploads. Perhaps a couple dozen of my uploads are architecture, and I don't list those, but a nearly complete list of uploads is on my user page if you ever are looking for one, and I do take requests.. just a thought. --Leahtwosaints (talk) 20:06, 27 June 2010 (UTC)

Thanks

For the deletion on "Camp Cobra."

I haven't nominated an AfD in ages. As you can tell, hah. -- A talk/contribs 15:23, 22 July 2010 (UTC)

Just a note for future use - moving an article when an AfD has been set up - Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/A Year Without Rain (Selena Gomez & the Scene album), causes problems. If there is a compelling reason for doing so (such as the name may be offensive), then it would be helpful to leave a note on the AfD discussion page. Regards. Re: Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Race Wars

Hello. I'm not a frequent user of my account on Wikipedia, though I do use this wonderful resource constantly.

That being said, I just logged in when I noticed the Race Wars page had been deleted, and noticed the User Talk you posted.

I would like to ask for the undeletion of the page, especially in light of new material.

mc chris recently posted on his facebook account in a series of status updates:
July 20 at 3:02pm: "recording a song!"
July 20 at 11:52pm: "Had to do it. http://mcchris.com/mp3/iheartdrugs.mp3"
July 22 at 7:45pm: "creativity is the solution when you don't know what to do. so yeah i drew a picture which is on my twitter and i wrote the first race wars song. BLAO! art is a godsend. it's really the thing that's always been there."

In light of these things, I think it is evident that the album is being worked on actively. I know there's very little information about it at this time, but the recreation of this article is inevitable.

I hope you will reconsider the decision to have the article deleted. Thank you. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Citricacidx (talkcontribs) 22:48, 24 July 2010 (UTC)

Hello, Citricacidx. If you're reading this, just note that Wikipedia has developed some rules over time stating that an album cannot have its own article until it is released. Or for highly anticipated albums, at least completed and ready for release. An article needs a confirmed release date and full track list, among other things. See WP:NALBUMS and WP:HAMMER. Therefore there is not nearly enough about "Race Wars" yet for an article. However, the fact that mc chris is working on the album can be mentioned at his biography article. --DOOMSDAYER520 (Talk|Contribs) 14:52, 25 July 2010 (UTC)
Ok, I wasn't aware of those criteria for the creation of an article on an upcoming album. Thanks. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Citricacidx (talkcontribs) 15:56, 25 July 2010 (UTC)

Archiving My Talk Page

I have tried to archive my user talk page a few times but have never been able to make it work more than once. The automatic bots are not my area of expertise. I added the code for MiszaBot III just yesterday (after removing the code for a previous archiving scheme that didn't work), and the archiving took place almost successfully. However, the "Archives" box that I added to the page contains links for the non-existent Archive 1, Archive 2, and Archive 4. Meanwhile, MiszaBot III sent my older messages to Archive 15 which I had to add manually to the "Archives" box. It's all real messy and I think it's because of the parameters in the code for MiszaBot III. Basically I would just like all old stuff to go to an "Archive 1" page, and when that fills up, then "Archive 2," etc. Thanks! --DOOMSDAYER520 (Talk|Contribs) 16:58, 4 August 2010 (UTC)

One reason it's going to archive 15 is that's where you told it to put stuff with the counter parameter in the template. If you'd like, I can move the Archive 15 to Archive 1; then you can change the parameter at the top of the page, and it should start sending stuff to Archive 1, then Archive 2 after it fills up. —C.Fred (talk) 17:03, 4 August 2010 (UTC)

Yes, please move User talk:Doomsdayer520/Archive 15 to the currently empty User talk:Doomsdayer520/Archive 1. Feel free to look at the code for THIS page and see if I have it right. Thanks. --DOOMSDAYER520 (Talk|Contribs) 17:10, 4 August 2010 (UTC)

The code looks good. In fact, except for one extra parameter, it looks just like my user talk page. —C.Fred (talk) 17:17, 4 August 2010 (UTC)
