Drafts

[edit]

Hey there, I noticed you are a relatively new editor and that you moved the article Ivan Mbakop out from draftspace. Typically, these articles should be reviewed through the WP:Articles for creation process rather than being unilaterally moved by a new and potentially less experienced editor as yourself. This subject was previously determined to not be notable and was moved out from the mainspace once before, although your recent editing to it does not seem to address those concerns. As such, I have nominated it for WP:Speedy deletion in accordance with WP:A7, because none of those roles were major (the actor is not even mentioned at the Reminiscence article and is not clearly notable from roles in Red Notice or Hawkeye. Please take time to review how AfC works and to renew the WP:BLP policy, as well, especially if you are going to continue editing about living persons as it can be quite strict. Speciality to Specialty

[edit]

Hi, I noticed you've changed Speciality to Specialty a fair amount, Speciality is British-english, which is acceptable on English Wikipedia. Many articles will use British english, it is often what is taught to foreign speakers of English. 𝙏𝙚𝙧𝙧𝙖𝙞𝙣𝙢𝙖𝙣地形人 (talk) 02:09, 19 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Many of the articles were on subjects relating to the UK, British commonwealth, or Europe, and so were using British english in the article. Of those I have made reversions. 𝙏𝙚𝙧𝙧𝙖𝙞𝙣𝙢𝙖𝙣地形人 (talk) 02:24, 19 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I'll be careful in sustaining the language styles in my spelling correction edits. Thanks for notifying me and correcting them within hours. DonnaJRick (talk) 16:24, 19 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

National varieties of English

[edit]

Information icon Hello. In a recent edit, you changed one or more words or styles from one national variety of English to another. Because Wikipedia has readers from all over the world, our policy is to respect national varieties of English in Wikipedia articles.

For a subject exclusively related to the United Kingdom (for example, a famous British person), use British English. For something related to the United States in the same way, use American English. For something related to another English-speaking country, such as Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, India, or Pakistan, use the variety of English used there. For an international topic, use the form of English that the first author of the article used.

In view of that, please don't change articles from one version of English to another, even if you don't normally use the version in which the article is written. Respect other people's versions of English. They, in turn, should respect yours. Other general guidelines on how Wikipedia articles are written can be found in the Manual of Style. If you have any questions about this, you can ask me on my talk page or visit the help desk. Thank you. Danners430 (talk) 08:35, 19 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for notifying me this distinction. I'll be taking care of that in my next edits for sure. DonnaJRick (talk) 16:21, 19 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I was among those mildly annoyed by the speciality > specialty thing ... I therefore feel it's only fair to say how impressed I am with your spelling corrections since then! All that "accidentally" and "across" and the rest! Well done, cheers, DBaK (talk) 09:16, 20 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Exactly! That's what I go through when I read text and find spelling errors and typos - "Annoyance" Haha. Anyways, thanks for the appreciation. DonnaJRick (talk) 18:05, 20 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
