Hi and welcome. Just a quick note to ask you to not mark changes as minor when creating articles. Minor changes are things like correcting spelling errors, or changing the formatting of the article. Creating an article like MasterCard isn't minor. (the only exception would be redirects) theresa knott 11:54, 25 Nov 2003 (UTC)
I removed Simple English because it is a redirect to Basic English that is already listed. Do you plan to create a new page at Simple English? Cheers, Pædia | talk 06:46, 2004 Apr 30 (UTC)
Image copyright tag missing
[edit]Hello, we're working hard to add image copyright tags to every image in Wikipedia. I'd appreciate it if you could add the appropriate copyright tag to these images:
Jeff 08:19, Jun 2, 2004 (UTC)
ok done, I release it as GFDL Donar Reiskoffer 09:22, 2 Jun 2004 (UTC)
- Thanks very much! --Jeff 09:43, Jun 2, 2004 (UTC)
The same by the picture Image:Roman empire.png you loaded up.If you add the licence i could use it for the german wikipedia.Sorry for my bad englisch --80.171.23.185 18:45, 13 Jun 2004 (UTC)
See below, Copyright unknown. :-((
License
[edit]Hi, we use a pic from you on french wikipedia : fr:Image:Romulus Remus Louve.jpg but there's no copyright information. Seeing what you've written up, I assume it is GFDL but could you confirm it on the page or on my discuss page. Thanks in advance fr:Utilisateur:Tipiac
No probelm for Romulus and Remus, picture taken by myself, and I release it under GFDL. Donar Reiskoffer 15:27, 11 Jul 2004 (UTC)
We also use your map Image:Roman empire.png. So please let me know its license. Thanks Tipiac 11:30, 10 Jul 2004 (UTC)
I am hesitating a little, I adapted a map of europe, but don't know any more where I got that map. So Copyright unknown :-(( Donar Reiskoffer 15:27, 11 Jul 2004 (UTC)

Laguerre polynomials
[edit]Hello. I'm glad to see the new article on Laguerre polynomials that you created. (I've also expanded it a bit.)
One thing to be aware of when using TeX is that if you type e^-x it will get rendered like this:
and not like this:
For the latter you need to type e^{-x}.
Also, it is customary to indent "displayed" TeX by a preceeding colon, so that you see this
rather than this:
Michael Hardy 21:09, 30 Aug 2004 (UTC)
PS: Since the Laguerre polynomials form an infinite sequence of polynomials, and one often thinks about the sequence rather than about the polynomials individually, I've decided to consider this an exception to the usual Wikipedia custom of using singulars in article titles, just as in the case of Chebyshev polynomials, Hermite polynomials, Legendre polynomials, orthogonal polynomials, etc., so I will move the page accordingly. Michael Hardy 21:09, 30 Aug 2004 (UTC)
It seems that your are more familiar with the subject than I do. Thank you for making a real article from my stub. Donar Reiskoffer 07:21, 31 Aug 2004 (UTC)
Why do you keep adding a foreign language link to "Livestock"?
[edit]Please add a description to your edits.
If you feel you have a reason to justify the foreign language link, please add an explanation of what the foreign link represents.
- However, please see the Wikipedia house style guide, regarding links to foreign language pages.
I made the extra effort to give you an opportunity to explain this link on the Talk page for Livestock, and you simply placed the link back without explanation.
I have again moved the link onto the Talk page.
Before you restore this link once again, please provide an explanation of what you are trying to accomplish.
I appreciate that you are trying to contribute, but you have left several other contributors mystified by your actions so far.
Regards,
--DV 20:19, 1 Sep 2004 (UTC)
Ok, I understand that I went a little to fast. I saw that the interlanguage links suddenly disappeared. As most of them seemed to be valid adresses I supposed they were accidentally removed. I admit only checked the languages I understand German, Spanish, Dutch. I haven't looked to the talk page, and haven't added comments to my edits, which I should have.
On the other hand: I have only contributed to the Livestock page once, so I don't understand why you say I KEEP adding that interlanguage link.
So we both went a little to fast, didn't we ;-)
Donar Reiskoffer 06:54, 2 Sep 2004 (UTC)
- Thank you for the clarification, Donar Reiskoffer. As for you not being the original author of the broken link, I neglected to search the history far back enough to realize that another user, A-giâu was the original source of this contribution.
- After much struggle trying to decipher what language he was trying to support, lo and behold, it turns out his user page documents a bug with the page parser that is causing the link to the language he is using to wrongly appear on the main page read by readers. Donar, thanks for helping to solve the mystery. --DV 07:42, 2 Sep 2004 (UTC)
Typo in awareness statistics?
[edit]You just updated the Alexa stats for the awareness statistics page with a second entry for 4 September. Should that be 7 or 8 September perhaps? Thanks. Kbh3rd 15:14, 8 Sep 2004 (UTC)
Yes, thank you for noticing. The correct date is 8 september, I already corrected it. Donar Reiskoffer 06:40, 9 Sep 2004 (UTC)

Butterfly pictures
[edit]Your butterfly pictures look excellent, but they would be more useful, if we knew their species. You probably don't know know more about them, otherwise you would have written more about them. But do you remember where you took the pictures? It makes recognizing much easier. I took a closer look at Image:Butterfly zwin8.jpg, and it looks identical to thoas swallowtail. Could it be? -Hapsiainen 21:54, Oct 7, 2004 (UTC)
- And Image:Butterfly zwin2.jpg looks like zebra heliconian. -Hapsiainen 17:07, Oct 8, 2004 (UTC)
- I took those pictures in the Vlindertuin (Butterfly garden) of Knokke (Belgium). So the species might be from any continent.
- I asked the others. Let's see what they say. -Hapsiainen 17:07, Oct 8, 2004 (UTC)
- Image:Butterfly zwin1.jpg looks like a Blue Morpho. Rmhermen 21:36, Oct 8, 2004 (UTC)
- I asked the others. Let's see what they say. -Hapsiainen 17:07, Oct 8, 2004 (UTC)
- I agree after searching the web for blue morpho pictures. The question was archived, so don't expect any more answers to it. Now I am going to write the species names to the image description pages and put those three images to some articles. I'll post here if I learn something new about them. -Hapsiainen 12:57, Oct 27, 2004 (UTC)

A beginners guide to computer hardware & Wikibooks
[edit]Just writing to warn you... this text has some serius problems...
- "Motherboard" is not another name for a CPU
- CPU, AGP, RAM and AMD are written without the dots
- HDD Disk Drive -> Hard Disk Drive Disk Drive? ;)
- Hard Disks and IP Addresses... ARRGH! (if you don't know why it's wrong ask and i'll explain it from the top)
- The standards the contribrutor used are quite off... it's open to debate and shousl be left out... however the practice is to list the lower quantities usually...
- Capitalisation, sentance structure and punctuation... Woo Hoo...
- Ip Addresses and Trojan horses... even more reasons to scream...
Anyway if you need any help with it, just ask... --Asmodai 22:25, Oct 28, 2004 (UTC)
I agree. I should have read the text more carefully. The page was listed on VFD on wikipedia, and on a first glance It seemed to be appropriate as a page on wikibooks. But perhaps I was a little to rapid with this. Donar Reiskoffer 08:05, 29 Oct 2004 (UTC)
- Don't worry... the point of wikipedia is to have someone looking out for things like this... however i already sent the article to a number of friends and they dropped to the floor laughing... So at least the article is worth something :) --Asmodai 12:07, Oct 29, 2004 (UTC)

Article Licensing
[edit]Hi, I've started a drive to get users to multi-license all of their contributions that they've made to either (1) all U.S. state, county, and city articles or (2) all articles, using the Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike (CC-by-sa) v1.0 and v2.0 Licenses or into the public domain if they prefer. The CC-by-sa license is a true free documentation license that is similar to Wikipedia's license, the GFDL, but it allows other projects, such as WikiTravel, to use our articles. Since you are among the top 1000 Wikipedians by edits, I was wondering if you would be willing to multi-license all of your contributions or at minimum those on the geographic articles. Over 90% of people asked have agreed. For More Information:
- Multi-Licensing FAQ - Lots of questions answered
- Multi-Licensing Guide
- Free the Rambot Articles Project
To allow us to track those users who muli-license their contributions, many users copy and paste the "DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual" template into their user page, but there are other options at Template messages/User namespace. The following examples could also copied and pasted into your user page:
- Option 1
- I agree to multi-license all my contributions, with the exception of my user pages, as described below:
- DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual
OR
- Option 2
- I agree to multi-license all my contributions to any U.S. state, county, or city article as described below:
- DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual
Or if you wanted to place your work into the public domain, you could replace "DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual" with "MultiLicensePD". If you only prefer using the GFDL, I would like to know that too. Please let me know what you think at my talk page. It's important to know either way so no one keeps asking. -- Ram-Man (comment| talk)
Unverified images
[edit]Hi! Thanks for uploading the following image:
I notice it currently doesn't have an image copyright tag. Could you add one to let us know its copyright status? (You can use gfdl if you release it under the GNU Free Documentation License, fairuse if you claim fair use, etc.) If you don't know what any of this means, just let me know at my talk page where you got the images and I'll tag them for you. Thanks so much. Peter O. (Talk, automation script) 06:01, Dec 11, 2004 (UTC)

Wikiproject: Particles
[edit]Hey, whats happening with Wikiproject: Particles? Are you still actively working on it? I've been looking over some of the articles in its domain and I see organization and standardization that needs to be done. -- Rmrfstar 8 July 2005 02:07 (UTC)
I started that project more than a year ago. Probably because there was not much attention from others, I have dropped my attention also. Feel free to give it a new start. Donar Reiskoffer 8 July 2005 06:04 (UTC)
I'm thinking about doing just that, give me a bit to think it over and make a plan for what I would do with it, and thanks! -- Rmrfstar 05:11, 11 July 2005 (UTC)
Thanks for uploading Image:Oil prices.png. I notice it currently doesn't have an image copyright tag. Until a more informative tag is provided, it will be listed as no source or no license. Could you add a better tag to let us know its source and/or copyright status? If you made the image yourself, an easy way to deal with this is add GFDL if you're willing to release it under the GFDL. Alternatively, you could release all rights to it by adding NoRightsReserved. This would allow anyone to do whatever they wish with your image, without exceptions. However, if it isn't your own image, you need to specify what free license it was distributed under. You can find a list of the tags here. If it was not distributed under a free license, but you claim fair use, add fairuse but you need to substantiate your claim by explaining why you think it's fair use. If you don't know what any of this means, just let me know where you got the images by posting to my talk page. If you do this, I can tag them for you. Thanks. RedWolf 04:30, July 15, 2005 (UTC)
- Thank you for noticing. I made the graph myself and release it hereby under GFDL. I updated the image tag. Donar Reiskoffer 05:30, 15 July 2005 (UTC)
Image Tagging Image:G0-t0.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:G0-t0.jpg. I notice it currently doesn't have an image copyright tag, so its copyright status is therefore unclear. Could you add a tag to let us know its copyright status? (If you created/took the picture then you can use gfdl to release it under the GFDL. If you can claim fair use use fairuse.) If you don't know what any of this means, just let me know on the image description page where you got the images and I'll tag them for you. Otherwise, see Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use. Thanks so much. --Donar Reiskoffer 14:28, 9 August 2005 (UTC)

Request for edit summary
[edit]Hi. I am a bot, and I am writing to you with a request. I would like to ask you, if possible, to use edit summaries a bit more often when you contribute. The reason an edit summary is important is because it allows your fellow contributors to understand what you changed; you can think of it as the "Subject:" line in an email. For your information, your current edit summary usage is 10% for major edits and 33% for minor edits. (Based on the last 150 major and 150 minor edits in the article namespace.)
This is just a suggestion, and I hope that I did not appear impolite. You do not need to reply to this message, but if you would like to give me feedback, you can do so at the feedback page. Thank you, and happy edits, Mathbot 11:31, 27 February 2006 (UTC)
- Thank you for the remark. As long as such remarks are placed only once on a userpage I think they are OK. I'll try to use more the summary window, but I cannot promise anything. --Donar Reiskoffer 11:38, 27 February 2006 (UTC)
- The bot will not bug you ever again. I keep a list of people the bot wrote to. Cheers, Oleg Alexandrov (talk) 16:05, 27 February 2006 (UTC)
Thank you for editing the references
[edit]Donar Reiskoffer, thanks for editing the references in Standard conditions for temperature and pressure. I am quite new to Wikipedia and was not aware of how to do what you did. Can you please tell me where I can find a writeup on how to properly edit references as you did?
Also, the actual listed references now all have a vertical arrow at the beginning of each listed reference. In some cases, the arrow is quite faint and in other cases it is bold. In yet other cases, some of the arrowa have superscripts a and b with them. What does all that mean? Is it necessary to have them or can those arrows and superscripts be deleted somehow? I think that ordinary readers of article will be confused as to why those arrow and superscripts are there.
I will await your response here on your talk page. mbeychok 18:47, 27 February 2006 (UTC)
- I am not an expert in this matter. But the advantage of the syntax is that it automatically numbers the references and gives a mutual link between the referal and the reference. The arrows are a backlink from the reference to the referal. In case there are two referals to the same reference the backlinks are numbered with letters: a, b, ... Just try clicking on them and you will see. If you would like to know more I propose you read Wikipedia:Footnotes or Wikipedia:Citing sources. --Donar Reiskoffer 20:52, 27 February 2006 (UTC)

Response on List of countries by English speaking population
[edit]The question is not how much people do speak Irish, but how much that do not have English as a native language (whether it is native together with Irish or not doesn't matter). I agree that 30,000 might be a poor guess, but it is not a POV towards the 60,000-100,000 Irish speakers. --Donar Reiskoffer 08:42, 5 April 2006 (UTC)
- Hi Donar, I agree with you. The 80.000 came from the Irish language article which stated: “80,000 people has been quoted as the number of people in the Gaeltacht who use the language as their first, daily language.” Those people will probably say: English is my second language. Which doesn’t make it necessarily true of course, maybe only closer to it, but still a guess.
- Don't get me wrong by the way, with my opinion-comment in my edit I was not reffering to your edit (POV towards...), only to the factual-template that includes: "this article may simply be opinions" which I think is not true because the article is a simple copy from the source (made it in my IP time). Together with the two other templates (not verified & incomplete) I thought there where enough “warnings” and the extra factual-template was maybe just a bit over the top, that’s all. Happy editing. --Van helsing 11:22, 5 April 2006 (UTC)

Reasoning behind an edit?
[edit]Regarding this edit, would you mind explaining why you removed the link? While the link wasn't up I had been emailed several times asking for a more detailed image by folks who didn't realize that the image you get when you click the image isn't the most detailed version available. Since you didn't use an edit summary I don't have a clue why you made the change. :) Thanks for your help. --Gmaxwell 01:04, 20 May 2006 (UTC)
- I know I am very poor at giving edit summaries ;-(( The reason is that I find it very redundant to put a extra link to the original version of the image, as it can easily be retrieved by clicking on the image to go to the image page and than clicking once again. Wikipedia would look much more ugly if every image would have such an extra link. I have however no strong objections for this link in the Bassoon article in specific. If you think the extra link would help a lot of people, please go ahead and revert my changes. --Donar Reiskoffer 16:02, 21 May 2006 (UTC)
- Ah, but most articles don't have images where the full resolution copy shows important details not visible in the small or the image page versions. (People have emailed in the past wanting detail pictures showing the keywork, without realizing that the small picture is also the detailed picture :) ). I don't care much, but I think we need some way of showing that there is more than you'd expect available. --Gmaxwell 03:42, 22 May 2006 (UTC)
I hope I didn't come across as snide with my comment about the measurements..I keep getting beat up about not being specific about numbers...but I see no reason they can't be rounded off...especially if they are written as >(greater than) or vice versa. Anyway, thanks for your support!--MONGO 07:31, 24 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit]Great work with the United States National Park map! I have removed the Virgin Islands National Park dot, as it was showing up in Wisconsin. I have also taken the liberty to add the map to a bunch of other related articles. Nationalparks 18:35, 24 May 2006 (UTC)
- The map looks very good in . Also, it is now its own template , so if it needs to be edited, we don't have to go to every single article that it is in. Nationalparks 21:23, 12 June 2006 (UTC)
