Speedy deletion of Trafficante crime family
[edit]A tag has been placed on Trafficante crime family requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a company or corporation, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for companies and corporations.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the article or have a copy emailed to you. ←Signed:→Mr. E. [edit]Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but your recent edit removed content from Randy Travis discography. When removing text, please specify a reason in the edit summary and discuss edits that are likely to be controversial on the article's talk page. If this was a mistake, don't worry; the text has been restored, as you can see from the page history. AfD nomination of Bontade Mafia family
[edit]I have nominated Bontade Mafia family, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Bontade Mafia family. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.
Please contact me if you're unsure why you received this message. - Mafia Expert (talk) 21:44, 28 March 2009 (UTC)
Possible copyright problems
[edit]Hello Domino79, I'm very concerned about the content of several of the organized crime articles you've created or substantially contributed to. They appear to be copies (either direct copyright infringement, or plagiarism) of the relevant pages at AmericanMafia.com, which is copyrighted material.
In particular, I'm concerned about:
- Sciortino Crime Family compare to: http://www.americanmafia.com/Cities/San_Jose.html
- San Francisco crime family compare to: http://www.americanmafia.com/Cities/San_Francisco.html
- Dallas crime family compare to: http://www.americanmafia.com/Cities/Dallas.html
Sciortino Crime Family was created by User:Mafiafamily2008, who appears to have stopped editing before this account started up; is this a previous account?
So, what am I missing here? You know you can't just copy material from other websites, or just change a few words here and there, right? I want to give you a chance to explain what's going on here before I nominate these pages for speedy deletion as copyright violations using {{db-copyvio}}, or bring them up for discussion at WP:Copyright problems.
I'll watch this page for a reply. --Floquenbeam (talk) 00:17, 17 June 2009 (UTC)
- Hi Domino79,
- Regarding your comment on User:Mafiafamily2008: the "for some reason" is, as I say above, because they are WP:Plagiarism, and WP:Copyright violations. Please see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. We have to be really careful about this kind of thing. We can't simply take the text from a website, modify the wording superficially, and call it our own.
- Since you don't want to talk to me, I'll bring this up at WP:Copyright problems, but it seems pretty clear-cut to me. If the pages are deleted, please make sure not to recreate them the same way. Articles require independent composition and researching.
- Let me know if you have any questions.
