Hi, I think you're a bit confused on the definition of terms like Indo-Persian. As an adjective, it is used to describe aspects of Persian culture which were integrated into that of India, particularly from the time of the first Muslim invasions in the 12th century and especially after the Mughal era. I have sources to back me up on this, and at least one goes as far as saying "the Mughals gave birth to Indo-Persian culture". Many of the weapons which you labelled as Indo-Persian actually have no connection to Persia at all. For example the chakram and gada pre-date Persian influence while the pata and bagh naka were never (or at least rarely) used by Indo-Persian people. Some of the weapons you labelled such as the katar and maduvu are Dravidian weapons with no relation to Indo-Persian culture except for the katar being adopted by Mughals. Going by your edits and your description on the disambig, it seems you have your own definition of the term, which appears to be "anything from Persia and India". This is incorrect in all aspects of what constitutes Indo-Persian culture. The Taj Mahal is an example of Indo-Persian architecture, but the stupas of Sanchi in India and the palace of Ardashir in Iran are not. Just because something is Indian or Persian does not make it Indo-Persian. Morinae (talk) 12:08, 6 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

  • Hello Morinae, I am not "confused" at all, there are two uses for the term "Indo-Persian" when it comes to armor and weapons, while your definition is correct, it is also correct to group all Indian, Ottoman, Persian weapons together under the umbrella category of "Indo-Persian". This term has taken the place of "Oriental, Eastern, Islamic" etc and is used to make it easier to find these weapons. This is the same method used by Wikimedia Commons to categorize their images so why not use it here as well? https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:Indo-Persian_weapons If you feel so strongly that this is wrong then we can discuss this matter on the talk page. First try doing a google search for "Indo-Persian weaons" and see what turns up. [1]Disinterested spectator (talk) 21:16, 8 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
As a matter of fact, I do feel strongly that this is wrong. I was unaware that Wikimedia Commons categorizes images in this way, but I will certainly correct that as well. And please don't use the lazy method of a google search to justify a mistake. Let's continue this on the talk page. Morinae (talk) 10:20, 12 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Seeing as you haven't responded in over a week, I'll correct the category and remove it from aticles where it does not apply. Please finish with this discussion before re-adding it. Morinae (talk) 11:30, 21 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

    • You have obviously made up your mind and I can see that you believe that you have the only true and correct answer (in the typical Wikipedi fashion), you seem unwilling to listen to any views other than your own so go right ahead and do what you want, happy now?Disinterested spectator (talk) 14:21, 3 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
