CSR / Extractive project

[edit]

Hello David,

I'm a project manager at the CSR Initiative at Harvard Kennedy School for BASESwiki (http://baseswiki.org/), a wiki-style resource exploring methods for businesses and their external stakeholders to constructively resolve disputes and conflicts. Given your work here on Wikipedia and on DigDeeperonCSR, I was hoping to speak with you about some of the resources we're working to develop in the extractive industry in particular, adding information to some articles you've contributed here on Wikipedia as well. Let me know if you're interested - you can find me at admin [at] baseswiki.org . LittleKyle (talk) 04:38, 5 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hello

[edit]

I'm trying to get people who are willing to help me out with a pet project I've begun but realised that it will be extremely hard for me to even make a small dent in. First of all, I got your name from the list of active members on the wikiproject for mining articles. Please disregard this, if you're not interested.

So, here's what I'm trying to do and what you could do to help me. I noticed that there were very few articles that list mines. I've tried (to the best of my abilities) to create a sub-page that lists all of the probable articles for lists of mines that I could think of, you can review this here.

Basically, I need help. Suggestions on different lists to add, I need lists created, if the lede I've been using should be changed, I'd like community consensus on the standard layout (I've been going with listing articles like List of gold mines by country and List of mines in the United States by output. If someone would like to make templates for these articles.

Please, don't feel obligated. I came to you, and others like you because of your implied interest in mining articles. List articles are not exactly in everyone's taste. If you are completely uninterested, but think you might know someone who might be, please let them know about it. I could use all the help I can get.

Oh, and if you happen to create any new articles on mines, please add them to any of my recently created lists. Sorry for this being so wordy, have a good day and happy editing! Ncboy2010 (talk) 22:26, 18 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

useful task: WikiProject templates on mine categories/articles

[edit]

Before bed last night, after my last post to you on Talk:MPmd, I noticed the mine categories in Central America didn't have Wikiproject templates; I did most of the subcats in Central America and some of the Caribbean ones, but there are more; some may have the country templates, but not the mining templates, and vice-versa. As for Africa and South America, it's probable they're missing too. Same goes for mine articles; if there are social/environmental or archaeological material in the articles, WP Environment and/or WP Archaeology should be added too....most I've seen in Central America were just stubs, other than Marlin Mine; I didn't look at the Mexican articles, just the categories.Skookum1 (talk) 02:34, 17 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Cultural genocide

[edit]

Hi, DiligentDavidG. Apologies for taking the lazy way out, but I'm snowed under with cite checks, translations, et al. Could you provide the source (including page number or any other relevant details) for the content you've added to Cultural genocide invoking Article 8? For the moment, I'm letting it stand with a 'citation needed' template, but would appreciate it if I could pick your brain while you're online. Thanks! --Iryna Harpy (talk) 05:23, 9 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Iryna - I have added the reference, I realize it is not properly formatted, I will fix that tonight DiligentDavidG (talk) 11:38, 9 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Not a problem. I've cite checked the reference and formatted it correctly. Thank you for your diligence (and pardon my appalling sense of humour)! Regards. --Iryna Harpy (talk) 23:16, 9 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Iryna - thanks for fixing-up the reference, I got a bit lost in trying to figure out the right format! DiligentDavidG (talk) 03:22, 10 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Happy to help out. As you're not a regular editor, wikifying 'stuff' (i.e., WP:SAYWHEREYOUGOTIT) tends to be a far more daunting task than actually finding salient content. Please feel free to drop me a note if you need assistance in any shape or form in the future. Again, my thanks — and proxy thanks from Wikipedia — for your contributions! --Iryna Harpy (talk) 04:19, 10 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Apparently the model of collaboratively creating articles is not longer the fashion at Wikipedia, I feel I am being asked to perfect the article before the editors will allow it to go live. If anyone reads this and thinks my current draft is better than nothing as a link to the 14 existing wikipedia articles that raise this topic, please speak up. Otherwise I might take Tokyogirl's recommendation and delete it rather than leaving it in this inferior state. Thanks DiligentDavidG (talk) 11:56, 13 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Voluntary Principles on Security and Human Rights, which you submitted to Articles for creation, has been created.

Thank you for helping improve Wikipedia!

Hi, User:DiligentDavidG -- I did some reorganizing of the article before accepting it -- at least now it makes sense to me ;-). We need to add categories and wikilinks to get it better integrated into WP. I also think that we could link from some of the organizations like the major oil companies to this article. Let me know if you have questions about what happens now. LaMona (talk) 21:02, 2 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
