External link to Yiddish Sources

The website Yiddish Sources is part of the WWW Virtual Library History Central Catalogue which is hosted and edited by the European University Institute in Florence, Italy. This follows Wikpedia guidelines> among the links to be considered for inclusion according to Wikipedia: External Links: “A well-chosen link to a directory of websites or organizations”. This is such a directory for the field of Yiddish Studies so I don't really see the issue? I understand about WP policy on external links and yes, I am the maker of Yiddish Sources, but this is a valued resource for many in the field.

Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia. Wikipedia is not a collection of links, nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include (but are not limited to) links to personal web sites, links to web sites with which you are affiliated, and links that attract visitors to a web site or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam guideline for further explanations. Because Wikipedia uses the nofollow attribute value, its external links are disregarded by most search engines. Follow up

I checked external links guidelines to make sure I was adding an appropriate link. Yes I am affiliated but the link is also a know academic resource that comprises a “A well-chosen link to a directory of websites or organizations” (quote from the guidelines). I will discuss this on the article's talk page. Sorry for the situation but please also note that I wanted to discuss the issue with you but due to the fact that your talk page is semi-protected and the fact that you did not contact me on the issue this seemed the only way to get into a discussion (and not my preferred way) Dighist (talk) 14:13, 9 April 2010 (UTC)
