Querry

[edit]

Are you employed by or contracted to any of the companies whose names you have been systematically adding to Wikipedia articles? John from Idegon (talk) 08:48, 25 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

No, I have been researching on the Co-living industry and came across multiple companies that are working in this field. It's intriguing to see this sudden trend in co-living and different motivations across different geographies.

Dev098 (talk) 09:02, 25 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

So why are you adding only company names to the articles instead of say, academic research? John from Idegon (talk) 09:12, 25 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Please go through my contributions. I have done 2 mainly - one on https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dormitory and other on https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Co-operative_living_arrangement In the former I have added a section on India and not about a company. In the latter I have added a LIST OF COMPANIES which I feel are relevant showing how the concept is commercialized in different parts of the world for millenials. Dev098 (talk) 09:15, 25 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I have. You added a photo, which may or may not be a copyright violation, from a facebook page titled Campus drift, and a listing of student housing providers in the UK to Dormitory. The photo indicates in its title the term "CoHo", which is, not so coincidentally the name of one of the companies you added to the article Co-operative living arrangement. We are not stupid children here, sir. This may be your first foray into changing content in Wikipedia (I'm not going to call it editing, because all it is is blatant promotion), but any experienced editor at Wikipedia has learned to recognize the patterns used by paid editors. I'm sorry, your explanations do not hold water. John from Idegon (talk) 09:30, 25 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I've nominated the file you added mentioned above for deletion at Wikipedia Commons. It came from http://www.coho.in/flats-in-delhi, and you claimed it as your own work when you uploaded it to Commons. So you do you still want to deny having any relationship with the companies whose names you are adding to Wikipedia? Because either you have knowingly violated a businesses copyright, which is actionable in a court of law, or you are lying here. Which poison do you prefer? John from Idegon (talk) 09:39, 25 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@john - I guess I have done a violation of business copyright. Please let me know how I can apply for a pardon. Dev098 (talk) 09:43, 25 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

So, you are denying any relationship at all with coho.in? What use did you intend for their logo, which you also uploaded to Commons? Frankly, I'm done. I'm just going to report you to the WP:COIN. John from Idegon (talk) 10:06, 25 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@John - If that is the best solution to your querry, please do.

Information icon Hello, Dev098. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places, or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic, and it is important when editing Wikipedia articles that such connections be completely transparent. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. In particular, we ask that you please:

  • avoid editing or creating articles related to you and your family, friends, school, company, club, or organization, as well as any competing companies' projects or products;
  • instead, you are encouraged to propose changes on the Talk pages of affected article(s) (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • when discussing affected articles, disclose your COI (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or to the website of your organization in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • exercise great caution so that you do not violate Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Please take a few moments to read and review Wikipedia's policies regarding conflicts of interest, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, sourcing and autobiographies. Thank you. John from Idegon (talk) 09:30, 25 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks @John - appreciate this.Dev098 (talk) 09:56, 25 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Ping

[edit]

Hello there! I hope you are enjoying editing on Wikipedia. I noticed at quite a few places that you mention @Username in order to reply to any specific person. {{ping|Username}} would in fact notify the user that you mentioned him and if the user clicks it, they would be redirected to the place where you mentioned them. For example, if you had to reply to me, you could use {{ping|Adityavagarwal}}, which would inform me that you have some mention of me. (It adds an @ symbol by default) I hope this helps, @Dev098: (an example of me pinging you, but a user would know if you wrote anything on their talk page, so not really required to ping them on their talk page, but just as an example, I pinged you. You could try pinging me, to try out.) Feel free to ask if you need any more advice/help. Adityavagarwal (talk) 10:58, 25 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Adityavagarwal: thanks Aditya :)

You are welcome. Adityavagarwal (talk) 15:21, 25 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
