hyphens vs. dashes in prov park names

Please do any more of these, I have enough to pick up after people with as it is.....you claim in one move it is justified by the source, but that's not true here is the Ed Bird-Estella Provincial Park homepage and it's clearly a hyphen, as it also is in BCGNIS if you search "Ed Bird-Estella Park" there. Hyphenated geographic names are hyphenated names and though that's recently been specified in ENDASH - because so many people wanted to ignore it in order to force the $%#& dash down everyone else's throats, it's always been about all geographic names as the author of that section has pointed out on WTMOS and elsewhere. Please stop breaking what don't need fixing; others have to pick up for you, and this particular other is getting real tired of this....Skookum1 (talk) 18:07, 31 January 2011 (UTC)

What's justified by the source is that the name of the park is Ed Bird–Estella Lakes Provincial Park, and your reversion of the move has restored the incorrect name without the word "Lakes". I'm not going to re-move, but you may want to consider restoring the park's actual name as the article title. The replacement of the hyphen with an en dash had nothing to do with "hyphenated geographic names"—since "Ed Bird" and "Estella Lakes" are both two words, our style (WP:ENDASH #5) calls for an en dash rather than a hyphen; it's a fundamentally different situation from something like "Schleswig-Holstein", where a hyphen is fine to join two single words. I didn't notice the plural thing, I'll fix that - but you're VERY wrong about hyphenated names; this was already resolved re regional districts, or is about to be (see Talk:Alberni-Clayoquot Regional District. coordinate elevation parameter

Why do you state that the {{coord}} elevation parameter is unsupported? (I reverted that because I intend to fix whatever is not supporting it. This is preferable to removing useful information from thousands of articles.) —EncMstr (talk) 17:28, 9 March 2011 (UTC)

The elevation information for the location is entered in the "elevation_m:" and "elevation_ft:" fields of the infobox. I see no evidence at Template:Coord that an "elevation" parameter is supported in that template, which is the basis of the "coordinates_type:" field from which I removed the parameter. The article was listed here under "Unsupported parameter name", and that is what I was trying to correct. What evidence do you have that such a {{coord}} parameter is currently used in "thousands of articles"? Deor (talk) 19:27, 9 March 2011 (UTC)

I've added elevation data to hundreds of articles, and encountered them in many more. It used to be documented at {{coord}} and/or WP:GEO and I added an explanation to User:EncMstr/Coord#Attributes (a page I maintain) when I found it. —EncMstr (talk) 08:03, 10 March 2011 (UTC)

Hounslow Heath

Thanks for adding co-ords for Hounslow Heath. I'm not really into mapping at all, but the numbers you added are outside the Heath, some distance from the entrance on Staines Road. The nearest point I can find is "hussar, staines road, hounslow", that is the public house on the north side of Staines Road (on the corner of Barrack Road) directly opposite the present (and historic) entrance. The coordinates I used are roughly in the middle of the area labeled "Hounslow Heath" on Ordnance Survey maps. (Click on the coordinates and select "Ordnance Survey Get-a-Map" from the list, then increase the scale one step.) Is this not correct for the current extent of the heath (which seems to include the HH Golf Course)? Deor (talk) 16:25, 31 March 2011 (UTC)

Thanks for checking. At the time, I clicked through to one of the commercial mapping sites, that showed the co-ords to the west of the rivers, but now looks OK in Google maps for centre of the heath, where I visited on 28 March. Sorry for distraction.PeterWD (talk) 17:08, 31 March 2011 (UTC)

If you don't know the Roman and Byzantium history it is your false. Open a history book or ask a professor in any university of the world. In university of Padova in Italy there are the coat of arms of the family Litinus. You have just to ask the university of Padova. Also it is very important to let to any person in world to add information about the name of Litinus. There are many opinions about the root of the name Litinus. I have not time to give you these information right now, but it will be good for all of us to share our knowleage. I shall add the historical information about the root of the name in the article. Also for people who know the basic history of roman empire I say to them that the king had the coat of arm ( fasces ) with 12 ropes. The coat of arm of Litinus which is the the walls of the university of Padova has an arm with a fasces with 12 ropes. So Litinus must be the name of a king of Roman. That 's why wikipedia can help us. In wikipedia we shall share our knowlenge. According to the profile of the users who want to delete this article and to the history of their profile and their articles in wikipedia, the users who want to delete this article are bad communists. I am saying bad beacause a good communist respect the history and does not try to modify and change it hiding the truth, and stopping the research. In wikipedia we research the history, and we call all the people to give and share the knowlenge . We are not make critism to the sociaty and to political system. Finally if a user like me , or like the writter of an article (litinus) has to present his knowleage according to some rules of the wikipedia (copywrites etc) , then you have to communicate directly with the user and to help him to represent his articles, and you must not delete the whole article because you have different political believes from the content of the article. space between birth and death years

It is standard to formulate birth and death years the following way: (1938 – 2002). The spaces included are standard. Visit any random biographical page and 95% of the time you will see it that way, including all Feautured and Good articles (for example: Edward Elgar).

Besides, the quote from the page you linked is incomplete. "Disjunctive en dashes are unspaced, except when there is a space within either one or both of the items (the New York – Sydney flight; the New Zealand – South Africa grand final; June 3, 1888 – August 18, 1940, but June–August 1940)."

Specifically: "; June 3, 1888 – August 18, 1940,"
