Copying within Wikipedia requires proper attribution

[edit]

Information icon Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you copied or moved text from Spinosaurus into Draft:Spinosaurus maroccanus. While you are welcome to re-use Wikipedia's content, here or elsewhere, Wikipedia's licensing does require that you provide attribution to the original contributor(s). When copying within Wikipedia, this is supplied at minimum in an edit summary at the page into which you've copied content, disclosing the copying and linking to the copied page, e.g., copied content from [[page name]]; see that page's history for attribution. It is good practice, especially if copying is extensive, to also place a properly formatted {{copied}} template on the talk pages of the source and destination. The attribution has been provided for this situation, but if you have copied material between pages before, even if it was a long time ago, please provide attribution for that duplication. You can read more about the procedure and the reasons at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. Thank you. If you are the sole author of the prose that was moved, attribution is not required. — Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 18:19, 2 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I've tagged this for notability as the citation status of this nomen dubium is far from sufficient to establish that we should have an article on it. Why not just mention it briefly in Stegosaur if it's in doubt? Chiswick Chap (talk) 14:56, 9 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Logania (fish) and other inadequately cited articles

[edit]

Hi, look, we understand you wish to create Wikipedia articles - of course, it's a pleasure - but this is a globally read encyclopedia, and it is essential you understand, quickly, that articles must contain something worthwhile and verifiable. It would be far better to create one informative and properly-cited article than a thousand stubs, I won't give them any description here other than to say they are satisfactory neither in content nor in citation. Please read the Wikipedia policy on verifiability. Help is available from many other volunteers if you want to collaborate in making this the world's finest encyclopedia: we'll be glad of your enthusiasm. However, right now you are creating a lot of work for new page patrollers, with numerous articles that are not up to any sort of standard: that cannot continue. I've added a simple fact with a proper citation to Logania (fish) to show how it should be done: please take note. Thank you for your understanding. Chiswick Chap (talk) 15:23, 9 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

The article Saraikimasoom has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Article is uncited, and attributed only to Malkhani 2014 but is a dubious genus. All the Malkhani publications on it are without peer review, i.e. there are no reliable sources for this name at all, and it is WP:TOOSOON for an article. Editor has created several similarly poorlyl-sourced stubs.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Thanks for creating Proscorpius, Deltasaurus!

Wikipedia editor Animalparty just reviewed your page, and wrote this note for you:

Double check your Latin: Proscorpius should translate to something like "first scorpion". "Eoscorpius" would be Dawn scorpion.

Ways to improve Opsieobuthus

[edit]

Hi, I'm Boleyn. Deltasaurus, thanks for creating Opsieobuthus!

I've just tagged the page, using our page curation tools, as having some issues to fix. Please add your sources.

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, you can leave a comment on my talk page. Or, for more editing help, talk to the volunteers at the Teahouse.

Boleyn (talk) 20:19, 9 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Deltasaurus.   I'm afraid Boleyn and I both edited your page at about the same time. I've retained my edits as I felt the page needed relaying out. I feel the reconstruction would be the best image for the Info box, and the type spec image with its inordinately long caption would be better lower down, with your caption text expanded in the body of the article. I hope you can resolve the failed reference you tried to insert, too.
Having just seen concerns about other dubious taxa artickes you have created recently, if sources are not swiftly provided this page may also be considered for deletion, Regards, Nick Moyes (talk) 20:29, 9 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
