Vancouver Wikipedians Meetup

[edit]

Greetings, you're getting this spam (courtesy of Tawkerbot) because you were listed on Wikipedia:WikiProject_Vancouver. In short, we're trying to have a meetup and we'd appreciate it if you'd join our Yahoo Group setup to figure out a time/place that would work. You can find the group at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/vancouver_wikipedians/. If you have any questions feel free to make a post there or on the WikiProject page.

Happy Editing!

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:A-50.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}.

Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me, or ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. John Smith's 14:39, 31 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Recent moves

[edit]

Please read up on the moving policy. As for Hideyoshi's invasions of Korea, it's gone through extensive discussion, an RfC, etc. The other move you tried to do, on the other hand, does indeed need to go through some of the process, as virtually no discussion has taken place, and it is a controversial move. Thanks! —LactoseTIT 11:43, 14 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Opening paragraph of Dokdo

[edit]

Well, actually I don't like the opening paragraph, either, as I don't like the title for Imjin War. And I agree with you that their behaviour is inconsistent. It looks like the same thing you experienced happened again. But I'm fed up with useless and exausting arguing with those hopeless burgers. So I didn't go further. Orphaned non-free image (Image:KDX-3-4.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:KDX-3-4.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 07:24, 28 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

A template you created, Template:Balhaemonarch, has been marked for deletion as a deprecated and orphaned template. If, after 14 days, there has been no objection, the template will be deleted. If you feel the deletion is appropriate, no further action is necessary. Thanks for your attention. --MZMcBride 00:34, 12 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Redirect of Exodar

[edit]

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Exodar, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Exodar is a redirect to a non-existent page (CSD R1).

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Exodar, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. WP:ANI#Long time abusing Wikipedia by Japanese editors from 2channel meat/sock puppets
Talk:Sea of Japan#2channel meatpuppets from 朝鮮人のWikipedia(ウィキペディア)捏造に対抗せよ 21diff

Hi, Deiaemeth, I just come to inform you that you have been exposed to 2channel, Japanese famous bulletin board. Unfortunately, many Japanese editors seem to have abused Wikipedia with the threads for a long time (over 4 years!) You remember Japanese POV pushing to South Korea? That is all related to 2channel. The most extreme example in these days is shown at the Talk:Sea of Japan. The discussion set up three days ago, but I let you know of this now.

I translated some of information, but the threads are too many, so if you have a time to look at it, please visit the links listed there. I also add the diff in case you come to the page much later. If it is archived, you would find it in No. 380 or 381. Or use Special:Whatlinkshere Thanks. --Appletrees (talk) 02:31, 4 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for the answer. I know much less any incidents arisen before last September and you appear to be a long time Wkipedian. :) I'm glad you're still in here regardless of their plotting to get rid of many Korean editors. It is also surprising that this is not the first time. You're very observant and if you leave your concern about 2channel and related Japanese editors at ANI, I would appreciate your effort. Thanks.--Appletrees (talk) 10:42, 4 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

File source problem with File:Crazyarcade_logo.JPG

[edit]
File Copyright problem
File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:Crazyarcade_logo.JPG. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 20:45, 11 February 2009 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Rockfang (talk) 20:45, 11 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for File:Crazyarcade_logo.JPG

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Crazyarcade_logo.JPG. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? Rockfang (talk) 20:46, 11 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Unreferenced BLPs

[edit]

Hello Deiaemeth! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 2 of the articles that you created are tagged as Unreferenced Biographies of Living Persons. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. if you were to bring these articles up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 16 article backlog. Once the articles are adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the list:

  1. Kim Sung-Il - Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL
  2. Nam Hae-il - Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL

Not notable. Fails to meet biography guidelines

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. File permission problem with File:Cheongye2.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Cheongye2.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

A tag has been placed on Category:Buyeo languages requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the category has been empty for seven days or more and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. A tag has been placed on SaeHan Information Systems requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a company, corporation or organization that does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion".
