Ok, that's fine. When I tagged the article, it had less content. Thanks. AHRtbA== Talk 15:37, 7 July 2009 (UTC)

All That Remains

hey, I just want to say thanks for fixing the band name on All That Remains' page...usually I check edits to look for vandalism but not this time... cheese (talk) 15:16, 8 July 2009 (UTC)

No problem! The user was fooling around in my user space, so I did a routine check of his/her other contributions. Regards, decltype (talk) 15:20, 8 July 2009 (UTC)

"Removed speedy deletion tag"

Hey decltype! Did you make the comments at User talk:Wuhwuzdat with a script? If so, can that script be used by non-administrators? Thanks, Theleftorium 16:40, 10 July 2009 (UTC)

He used CSDH[1] as notd in the edit summary. KillerChihuahua?!?Advice 16:43, 10 July 2009 (UTC)
Actually, the only comment that is there now I wrote manually, but yes, I do use Alex' script, CSDH, for removal of CSD tags. It should work for non-administrators. Regards, decltype (talk) 17:27, 10 July 2009 (UTC)
My error - I saw the link in the edit summary, and presumed. KillerChihuahua?!?Advice 17:41, 10 July 2009 (UTC)
Not at all, you're probably right. Given the headline, I'm pretty sure Theleftorium was referring to the CSDH message. Regards, decltype (talk) 17:56, 10 July 2009 (UTC)
Yeah, the page must have been archived after I asked you. Thanks for the help. :) Theleftorium 22:56, 10 July 2009 (UTC)
You're welcome. By the way, there's two versions of that script currently in circulation. I made one version with the admin check coded out, and some other fixes, and have stuck with it since. In the meantime, Alex has expanded his script with improved non-admin functionality. However, me and at least one other user have had problems with his version under IE. If you're exclusively using Firefox you should probably use his version. A notable difference is that his version says "Speedy contested" or something, and not the above text. decltype (talk) 23:03, 10 July 2009 (UTC)
The current version will automatically alter its message depending on whether the user is an admin - non-admins will contest the deletion, whereas admins will decline it. It also has a number of bugfixes, some other features, and works on IE for me, so I'd suggest checking out first, whatever you decide. Ale_Jrbtalk 23:32, 10 July 2009 (UTC)
Yes, Alex' version is definitely to be preferred (well actually, both are "his" versions). Regards, decltype (talk) 23:36, 10 July 2009 (UTC)

Den högsta status man kan få

Found your name while looking through [[Category:Wikipedia administrators willing to grant rollback requests]] for an Admin willing to authorize rollback capability for me. Realized you were the Admin I wanted to ask when I saw you were categorized "Den högsta status man kan få."

I've been a Wikipedian for 19 years, 8 months and 22 days, have 424 surviving new pages (plus a few more that didn't survive) and primarily monitor my watchlist of 3000+ pages for vandalism, with an occasional new page patrol, just to get a sense of what kind of problems are out there. Only recently have I felt any desire to have rollback capability - and I do not expect I'll be anywhere near the most vigorous rollback user, but could occasionally benefit from the capability. If you would be so kind, it would be convenient to be a rollbacker.

Yes, on second thought I should probably remove the category, though. It's a mini-meme based on an SVT2 documentary where some 14-year old geek proudly proclaimed that he had "den högsta status man kan få" because he was an operator of an IRC channel. Considering your track record, I'd be happy to grant you the rollback user right. decltype (talk) 03:04, 12 July 2009 (UTC)
Thanks - that was fast - suddenly found I had a superpower. Have to go right out and experiment with it.
You might leave that Cat - it gave me a laugh...
Skål - Williamborg (Bill)
And - as an afterthought - congrats on your recent award of "the mop." Williamborg (Bill)
Thank you. As a matter of fact, I've been wanting to ask you something..How good is your Norwegian/Swedish? Apparently, you know more about Norwegian literature than most Norwegians. decltype (talk) 17:33, 12 July 2009 (UTC)

← My Norwegian/Swedish skills are pretty poor. Speak only a very few words. When they are spoken I can occasionally follow a sentence or two. Can only write with a dictionary in hand. Norwegian is similar enough to English that some materials are relatively easy to read (and some, especially some dialects, are virtually impossible to follow). I’m scheduled to be in Stockholm next month, so should get some practice in, but my skills will still be pretty poor after that.

I am interested in languages. As an engineer, I’ve worked in places like Ukraine, Siberia, Austria, Belgium & China – and if one works in a place one pretty much must pick up enough language to order beer, reserve a hotel room & get directions. It also gives me a sense that Wikipedia can become Euro/Amer-centric. This explains why I occasionally try to “save” machine-translated articles or other poorly written articles that are AFD’d when I feel they warrant retention, such as Алексей Владимирович Высоцкий which was AFD’d, as well as translate interesting materials from Norwegian.

As to the interest in Scandinavian literature – did my undergraduate work at St. Olaf College. There we were required to read “Giants in the Earth” by Ole Rolvaag to understand our immigrant forebears (mine came from Oppland & Hedmark). From there it was not a great leap to reading Hamsun, Ibsen & Undset. Modern authors followed. But I’ve not been so fortunate as to work in Norway yet, so Norwegian & Norwegian literature are only an interest.

Skål - Williamborg (Bill) 21:16, 12 July 2009 (UTC)

I see. Your translation work at least indicate that you have a good understanding of written Norwegian. Regards, decltype (talk) 02:30, 13 July 2009 (UTC)
I'm pleased you think so, especially since your English is excellent - tusen takk.

Your userpage

How did you get the edit notice on your user page? t'shaélchat 12:32, 12 July 2009 (UTC)

By editing the page with an /Editnotice suffix. Like User:T'Shael/Editnotice. Regards, decltype (talk) 17:35, 12 July 2009 (UTC)
So, please forgive my ignorance, how is it that the one on your talk page is different from the one on you user page? t'shaélchat 20:46, 12 July 2009 (UTC)
That editnotice is located at User talk:Decltype/Editnotice :) decltype (talk) 20:50, 12 July 2009 (UTC)

Logo removed

Why was the logo removed? Iowateen (talk) 22:23, 15 July 2009 (UTC)

Because it is copyrighted and non-free, we have to make sure that it meets all of the non-free content criteria for every article it is used in. I believe its use in the monster article fails NFCC#8. Regards, decltype (talk) 22:26, 15 July 2009 (UTC)
I combined both of our work. What do you think the current article looks like? Iowateen (talk) 22:44, 15 July 2009 (UTC)
Okay, I guess. I still prefer Steve's lede, though, or something in-between. The first sentence should identify the subject. Regards, decltype (talk) 22:50, 15 July 2009 (UTC)
lede? Iowateen (talk) 22:51, 15 July 2009 (UTC)
Yes, lede, or lead. See WP:LEAD. Also wikt:lede. Regards, decltype (talk) 22:52, 15 July 2009 (UTC)
The sentences have been switched. Iowateen (talk) 22:53, 15 July 2009 (UTC)
The second sentence has been removed because I think that me adding that was a bad decision since it is pointless when the infobox already says it. Iowateen (talk) 22:55, 15 July 2009 (UTC)
I personally don't think the infobox info should be a replacement for the article prose, but it's up to you. Regards, decltype (talk) 23:00, 15 July 2009 (UTC)
