Non-free rationale for File:EDN Logo final transparency.png

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:EDN Logo final transparency.png. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described in section F6 of the criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. — Ирука13 19:14, 4 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Managing a conflict of interest

[edit]

Information icon Hello, Debaixa. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on the page Draft:European Doula Network (EDN), you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for article subjects for more information. We ask that you:

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicizing, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. DoubleGrazing (talk) 15:12, 22 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I understand and willingly acknowledge a conflict of interest. However, I wonder who else would write about a nonprofit organisation that is external to the organisation? They are unlikely to have either the interest in writing or the knowledge to be able to accurately detail what the organisation is about.
After following all the guidelines, I have now tried to use a NPOV in the article as much as possible and to write factual information about the organisation and its history. If there is still language that is considered opinionated or controversial, please say so it can be changed appropriately.
Last year when I submitted, it was not possible to find reference to EDN apart from us and via the web, so the sourcing was circular by default.
This year EDN was approached by an International Journal to present our organisation. We have also been mentioned in an article in the magazine Doula International and were requested to write an article to publish some of our recent research there.
Now the organisation is mentioned in external sources which surely have a greater reliability than the general web. What can be done if this is not enough? What happens for other non-profits?
We are all volunteers in the organisation and no one is paid to promote the organisation. We dedicate hours and hours of our time for a worthwhile cause.
I will look into how to declare COI in the submission, please provide further guidance about how to proceed. Debaixa (talk) 15:41, 22 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for acknowledging your COI. It is not a problem at all for you to edit this draft/article, you just need to disclose your COI. You can do so by either placing the {{User COI}} template on your user page User:Debaixa with a link to the draft(s)/article(s) to which it relates, and/or placing the {{Connected contributor}} template on each article/draft with which you have a COI. (Or if you would like me to do that for you, let me know.) Thanks, -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 16:46, 22 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks DoubleGrazing for your help, I'm really trying to get this right! And sadly I see so few similar nonprofits on wikipedia - only those high profile ones who have been around internationally for tens of decades. It's really hard to get visibility and yet as part of the third sector, we have the best of intentions and so little resources except the hard work, persistence and dedication of volunteers (just like wikipedia!). Have a lovely weekend! Debbie Debaixa (talk) 17:04, 22 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
