FYI, those portal boxes should not be added to the 'External links' section, they belong in a 'See also' section. Portals are part of Wikipedia (ie. on the wikipedia.org domain), they are not external links. - Kollision (talk) 02:30, 2 July 2010 (UTC)

I'm not sure if there is a precise rule that says exactly where a portal should be placed. Here are two examples from recently promoted Featured Articles: American Beauty - the portal is placed within the "External links" section. And The Revolution Will Not Be Televised - the portal is placed in the "References" section. DeWaine (talk) 02:31, 4 July 2010 (UTC)

Vietnam War in film

I am now converting the list into a table.
You are more than welcome to participate in doing so.
Varlaam (talk) 19:19, 27 September 2010 (UTC)

Thank you. I will see what other film material I can supplement to the page. DeWaine (talk) 00:03, 28 September 2010 (UTC)
It's really more a case of fleshing out what's already there.
We've got a title and date. The page link gives us country and director. If you've got the time, a one sentence plot capsule.
That's it.
The entire list got blown away earlier this month. That list is long overdue for a proper revamp.
Happy tabulating, Varlaam (talk) 01:01, 28 September 2010 (UTC)
Wow. Beautiful job.
I wish I were one of those guys who knows how to hand out barnstars, but I'm not.

Varlaam (talk) 03:54, 28 September 2010 (UTC)

Thanks. It is indeed quite a bit of work. It will take some time to compile all the info. DeWaine (talk) 04:28, 28 September 2010 (UTC)
Hey. You're only supposed to take amphetamines if you're about to launch a kamikaze attack on a US carrier.
I do know it's a lot of work. There are countless details.
If I tried to bite off that much in one mouthful, this crummy PC would crash.
Did you happen to confirm that Watchmen for example is relevant?
Varlaam (talk) 05:24, 28 September 2010 (UTC)

I did actually look at that myself the first time around. I really can't say that it seems relevant. It appears to be a fictional fantasy film that creates an alternate timeline referencing aspects of the war. But in reality, is it a film about the actual war? I don't think so. The same way if a Superman film did the same thing; is it also really about the war? I don't believe so either. Another film I would like to point out; The Quiet American. I haven't seen the film, but if it's about the first Indochina War surrounding the French occupation, then that itself is also not about the actual American conflict starting in the late 1950s. This list should only comprise films beginning with American involvement in say 1955 or 1959. (The start date of the actual war is disputed). But any fighting from say 1949, or 1953 is not relevant to the actual Vietnam War with the U.S.. DeWaine (talk) 11:53, 28 September 2010 (UTC)

Outline of the Vietnam War

Wow, I completely forgot there was another film list over there.
Even though I worked on that one a year ago.
I will worry about the merge, unless you want to.
Varlaam (talk) 04:21, 28 September 2010 (UTC)

I noticed that as well. It seems redundant in a way. I don't think we need sections from separate articles with duplicate information. It must somehow be condensed or redirected to the more built-up Vietnam War in film article. DeWaine (talk) 04:30, 28 September 2010 (UTC)
Exactly. I'll mess with it. Varlaam (talk) 05:20, 28 September 2010 (UTC)

Thanks

Thanks for your help on The Texas Chain Saw Massacre. This is the fourth FA and I really hope it doesn't fail.--The Taerkasten (talk) 17:18, 13 October 2010 (UTC)

Sure. I'd like to see it reach FA status as well. DeWaine (talk) 17:26, 13 October 2010 (UTC)

Images

If the "thumb" image looks weird to you (I don't know what it looks like for your screen), you can adjust your default "thumb" size at "My preferences" (top right of the screen). Under the "Appearance" tab there is a section for "thumb size", where you can adjust the way images set to "thumb" will appear on the screen. Not sure if you knew about this, so I figured I'd let you know just in case. Cheers.  BIGNOLE  (Contact me) 02:07, 14 October 2010 (UTC)

Ok, I wasn't aware of that. I suppose I overlooked it. I will fiddle with the controls. Thanks. DeWaine (talk) 02:16, 14 October 2010 (UTC
