Hypsiglena torquata / jani

[edit]

Hi, is this Hypsiglena torquata or Hypsiglena jani? The image is currently used for both species, like here for Hypsiglena jani and here for Hypsiglena torquata. I cant id this snake because they are so much alike. Greetz, -B kimmel (talk) 16:16, 4 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

It is most definitely a jani, I caught it myself in Edwards county, Texas which doesn't overlap ranges with any other species of Hypsiglena to my knowledge. I think the confusion stems from the fact that jani used to be considered a subspecies of Hypsiglena torquata, but was only recently reclassified as its own species and most of the literature, including Wikipedia, but especially print sources, simply haven't caught up yet. Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Goat blanket, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Coat (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Image Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading File:Hartman Prehistoric Garden.jpg.

This image is a derivative work, containing an "image within an image". Examples of such images would include a photograph of a sculpture, a scan of a magazine cover, or a screenshot of a computer game or movie. In each of these cases, the rights of the creator of the original image must be considered, as well as those of the creator of the derivative work.

While the image description page states the source and copyright status of the derivative work, it only names the creator of the original work without specifying the status of their copyright over the work.

Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the original image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other derivative works, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. Thanks again for your cooperation. Kelly hi! 21:48, 13 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Photo usage 2

[edit]

Hi, I'm working on an educational videogame with which I'm trying to build a bridge between animal awareness and Pokemon fans among others. It started out as something small and I talked to you before but it's getting bigger and more professional and I wanted to make sure I still have your permission. It's regarding this picture: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Eunectes_murinus2.jpg

And I would like your permission to use it under that license with the following attribution: LA Dawson, http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/User:Dawson

Also, because I want to make sure there's no misunderstanding, you are the original photographer correct? It sometimes happens that another person simply takes a picture from somebody else and uploads it to wikipedia with a license to distribute. That is why I'm asking.

There is more information on the game here, including a short video that tells a little bit about the background: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/238178285/animalalbum

I also have a demo version of the game available so you can see for yourself in what way the pictures are presented: http://dromedarydreams.com/index/demo/0-8

Please let me know if I have your permission, if the picture is yours and if you want a different attribution.

With kind regards, Sjors Jansen (all.animalalbum@gmail.com) Garfunkel Jansen (talk) 10:02, 21 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I am the original photographer, but since I uploaded the picture to Wikipedia in 2006 it has been "stolen" a thousand times for many other sites. You are welcome to use any of my photographs from Wikipedia for your game. They are all released under the Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike 2.5 Generic license, which allows pretty much any use, including commercial, with proper attribution, and that attribution is fine. The game looks great, and I'm always happy to contribute photography where animal education is concerned. If there's anything else I can help with, feel free to contact me. -Dawson (talk) 16:59, 21 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks a lot! That's very helpful. I'll do my best to turn it into a great game! Garfunkel Jansen (talk) 17:04, 21 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion of Ignore the Ants

[edit]

The article Ignore the Ants has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Unreferenced since 2009, can't find any good sources other than Amazon, which doesn't even list a track listing

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Happidog, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. 2600:6C4E:580:A:C596:AD91:AB84:C8BD (talk) 01:44, 3 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
