Hello! My name is David Camp, and I am in the process of creating an article about my wife, poet and visual artist Lauren Camp. I understand there is the potential for conflict of interest since I am close to her, but I believe I can produce a straightforward, unbiased piece. Furthermore, because of my closeness, I have access to the most comprehensive and accurate information about her. I hope you all will give me a chance to get this started.

Thank you. Davidmukamalcamp (talk) 02:29, 9 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Help me!

[edit]

Dear Whomever,

I've got a good start on an article I'm writing about my wife, an artist and poet who I believe to be notable. I know that articles are not supposed to be written by someone close to the subject, but please consider that because I am close to the subject, I have access to the most comprehensive and accurate information about her.

I am asking for help at this point because I'd be grateful for a quick glance at the piece (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Lauren_Camp) just to get an opinion about its objectivity, and if is remotely possible that when I have completed my first draft, it might pass muster.

Do I have a chance? Should I continue?

Thank you very much, David Camp Davidmukamalcamp (talk) 00:25, 10 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I'm going to leave your request for help open so you get more feedback. The big concern I have is that you do not have any independent reliable sources cited in your draft. The one reference is to a work co-written by her. —C.Fred (talk) 00:31, 10 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I agree with C.Fred. Searching for the person's name on google also failed to show any independent reliable sources that have written about her (Wikipedia requires multiple). I highly doubt that the subject meets the notability criteria, unless there is truly a large amount of coverage from independent sources that I have missed. If that isn't the case, I recommend not continuing to complete the draft. Darylgolden(talk) Ping when replying 01:33, 10 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you, @C.Fred and Darylgolden: I was hoping the reviews for two of her books (now correctly cited) later in the article would help with these concerns. They are linked to independent sites on the web. Are these not acceptable? Also, I have documentation about the exhibits I listed in the form of printed posters and museum postcards. Is there a way I can use these to prove the veracity of my article? Davidmukamalcamp (talk) 02:34, 10 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
