DavidCitron, you are invited to the Teahouse
[edit]Hi DavidCitron! Thanks for contributing to Wikipedia. |
This is an automated message from VWBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Innovative Artists, and it appears to include material copied directly from http://www.innovativeartists.com/about-us.html.
It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. The article will be reviewed to determine if there are any copyright issues.
If substantial content is duplicated and it is not public domain or available under a compatible license, it will be deleted. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material. You may use such publications as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. See our copyright policy for further details. (If you own the copyright to the previously published content and wish to donate it, see Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials for the procedure.) VWBot (talk) 00:13, 23 January 2013 (UTC)
Status and Advice
[edit]As reviewing administrator, I have deleted it for two reasons: first, a good deal of it remained a Close paraphrase--this must be avoided. You must rewrite from scratch, changing not just the words, but the arrangement into sentences and the sequence of ideas. Second, it is entirely remains promotional--essentially an advertisement fro the firm--a list of directors is precisely what should not be included--that is the sort of material that belongs only on the web page.
A Wikipedia article needs to show notability with references providing substantial coverage from 3rd party independent published reliable sources, print or online, but not blogs or press releases, or material derived from press releases. If you do have this material, try to rewrite--if not, there's no point, for the article will be inevitably deleted by our regular deletion process.
A Wikipedia article needs to be written like an encyclopedia article, not a press release. Include only material that would be of interest to a general reader coming across the mention of the subject and wanting the sort of information that would be found in an encyclopedia. Do not include material that would be of interest only to those associated with the subject, or to prospective client--that sort of content is considered promotional.
As a general rule, a suitable page will be best written by someone without Conflict of Interest; it's not impossible to do it properly with a conflict of interest or as a paid press agent, but it's relatively more difficult: you are automatically thinking in terms of what the subject wishes to communicate to the public, but an uninvolved person will think in terms of what the public might wish to know.
If you think you can do it right according to our guidelines, do so, but expect the article to be carefully checked for objectivity. and remember that if your organization is notable, other people will know it, and write the article. That you have to write it yourself tends to show just the opposite.

Speedy deletion nomination of Innovative Artists
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Innovative Artists, requesting that it be deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under two or more of the criteria for speedy deletion, by which articles can be deleted at any time, without discussion. If the page meets any of these strictly-defined criteria, then it may be soon be deleted by an administrator. The reasons it has been tagged are:
- It seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. (See section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion.) Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information.
- It appears to be about a person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), individual animal, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. (See section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion.) Such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. VQuakr (talk) 02:36, 23 January 2013 (UTC)
Welcome!
[edit]Hello, DavidCitron, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.
I notice that one of the first articles you edited appears to be dealing with a topic with which you may have a conflict of interest. In other words, you may find it difficult to write about that topic in a neutral and objective way, because you are, work for, or represent, the subject of that article. Your recent contributions may have already been undone for this very reason.
To reduce the chances of your contributions being undone, you might like to draft your revised article before submission, and then ask me or any other editor to proofread it. See our help page on userspace drafts for more details. If the page you created has already been deleted from Wikipedia, but you want to save the content from it to use for that draft, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.
One firm rule we do have in connection with conflicts of interest is that accounts used by more than one person will unfortunately be blocked from editing. Wikipedia generally does not allow editors to have usernames which imply that the account belongs to a company or corporation. If you have a username like this, you should request a change of username or create a new account. (A name that identifies the user as an individual within a given organization may be OK.)

Your recent edits
[edit]Hello. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. You could also click on the signature button or located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when they said it. Thank you. --SineBot (talk) 03:36, 23 January 2013 (UTC)
Innovative Artists
[edit]I've placed the deleted content into User:DavidCitron/sandbox. Please make sure to assert and substantiate notability by reference to coverage in major independent media. As for APA, there are several dozen possible APAs, but I saw no talent management agencies among them. Acroterion (talk) 03:43, 23 January 2013 (UTC)
- I don't necessarily approve articles ahead of time: I can mostly advise. While the list of notable clients is good, what we're looking for are references that show how notable IA is, not its clients. Notability is not inherited from the people with whom a person or company associates, but rather through specific coverage of the company itself. Those are the really valuable references that you'll need to collect and add to the article, articles that focus on the company and provide verification for the article content. Acroterion (talk) 22:31, 23 January 2013 (UTC)
- You don't need to submit it to me, but I'd advise you to continue to improve the article before putting it back into article space. Your Variety reference just links to Variety's main page: references need to point to the specific article you're referencing. As I said above, in order for the article to survive you must show that the subject has received significant notice in independent media: the idea is that a subject is notable enough for Wikipedia if a reasonable number of other media outlets have taken the time to write about the subject. I'm going to do a little formatting for you so you can concentrate on sourcing. Acroterion (talk) 01:18, 24 January 2013 (UTC)

- I thought it look pretty much like promotion with all the people claimed as clients without references. When an admin comes along, if he/she doesn't agree, it won't be deleted.--I am One of Many (talk) 03:01, 24 January 2013 (UTC)

January 2013
[edit]Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you recently tried to give Innovative Artists a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into another page with a different name. This is known as a "cut and paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is needed for attribution and various other purposes. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.
In most cases, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page. This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Cut and paste move repair holding pen. Thank you.
