January 22

Thank you for your contribution to January 22. Your entry has been reverted because it does not link to a Wikipedia article that supports the event or date referenced. In order to keep to Wikipedia's policy of verifiability, entries on date articles must link to existing articles for support. Please feel free to contact me with any questions. -- Mufka (u) (t) (c) 19:39, 26 January 2008 (UTC)

Okay, added a link to the Wikipedia article on the Gulf War. Das Baz, aka Erudil 20:59, 26 January 2008 (UTC)

Great. That's what it needed. Boneheads like me would have no idea where to look for more info on the event. Thanks. I'll bring up the topic of whether the event is globally notable another day. -- Mufka (u) (t) (c) 21:09, 26 January 2008 (UTC)

Another editor has added the prod template to the article The Real Forbidden Fruit, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but the editor doesn't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and has explained why in the article (see also Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not and Wikipedia:Notability). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia or discuss the relevant issues at its talk page. If you remove the prod template, the article will not be deleted, but note that it may still be sent to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Proposed deletion of List of fictional Pharaohs

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article List of fictional Pharaohs, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the dated prod notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Urrutia and Opening of the Mouth

Have you read the 'article'? Here is what Professor Michael Patrick O'Connor says of it: This article consists of
a. a paragraph that reads in toto: "The 51st Psalm reads in part:"
b. a paragraph that quotes parts of Psalm 51 from the Authorized Version without verse numbers;
c. a paragraph that says "The several specific points [in the quoted material] all have counterparts in the Egyptian ceremony [scil. The Opening of the Mouth ceremony], even in the same order. [footnote here to an essay by Hugh Nibley] Undoubtedly we have here a case of cultural diffusion."

The entire article occupies less than a page, though the footnote is placed on the following pages. Undoubtedly we have here, in the case of the article's author, a case of remarkable sloth or an urgent deadline; and even more undoubtedly we have here, in the case of the person urging people on the list to look at this article in what is, after all, a 16-year old article in a volume in a rather arcane series, a case of tremendous forgetfulness or low scholarly standards.

I think calling it an article is overkind to him. If you insist it is an article, I can add some of the above to clarify what it actually was. Doug Weller (talk) 15:54, 18 June 2008 (UTC)

Since it occupies two pages, it is factually inaccurate to call it a "page." Please stop hating on Benjamin. Your hostile POV is quite inappropriate. Das Baz, aka Erudil 15:40, 19 June 2008 (UTC)

It doesn't occupy 2 full pages, but never mind. Don't you mean that Professor O'Connor is hostile? All significant views need to be presesnted to be NPOV, and his is a significant view. So how do you suggest that we make sure all significant views are expressed in this case? Doug Weller (talk) 16:03, 19 June 2008 (UTC)
Thanks very much for that response. The only problem may be is that it gives no credit to Nibley. I found "Against your advice I ordered the volume containining Urrutia's Article.Eisenbrauns was having a sale on Magnes volumes so it only cost $15.Forunately I have the Nibley bookMessage. Nibley does give some useful citations in his discussion of the Opening of the Mouth on pages 106-109 which Urrutia cites. The whole value of Urrutia's article is inNibley's discussion and sources. I agree that Urrutia's article has no value"outside of the referenced material in Nibley." What do you think? Doug Weller (talk) 16:42, 21 June 2008 (UTC)

The central idea of Urrutia's page/article, about the three elements found in common in Psalm 51 and in the EOOTMC, is Urrutia's own idea/discovery, and does not come from Nibley. This certainly needs to be mentioned if the Nibley citation is discussed, to avoid creating the false impression that Urrutia is merely citing Nibley. Das Baz, aka Erudil 16:47, 21 June 2008 (UTC)

That's fine with me, go ahead with your suggestion. By the way, that other guy had thought I was supporting some weird Japanese cult, he got the wrong end of the stick completely. Go ahead with the suggestion you put on my talk page. And I'm not hating on Urrutia, just trying to get things accurate (I knew about the article because it had been discussed on a mailing list I was on). Doug Weller (talk) 19:45, 21 June 2008 (UTC)

The point in me showing that list to you was not to show you a list I worked on, but to show you an example of a featured list, what every list should strive to reach. If you really insist that it can become great, then something similar to that list, or any other featured list, is what you should strive for: similar in setup, lead section, etc. Red Phoenix flame of life...protector of all... 17:44, 5 July 2008 (UTC)

McCain and minimum wage

Please stop adding that to every article you can think of. I've removed to from everywhere except the John McCain article; I'll leave it to the editors there to determine whether, how, and where to incorporate that information in that article. --barneca (talk) 17:08, 23 September 2008 (UTC)

From Talavera de la Reina and son of 'de la Rua ' and 'Aguirre meneses'

Hi Das Baz ,

I appreciate your interest in adding more people to the 'list of basques' lastname 'Aguirre',but I think this 'Francisco de Aguirre' is a controversial one for many reasons and it is not adequate for this article :

- He is born in Toledo-Castilla- Spain that is 400 kilometres far any basque country or region. -His real first last name is 'de la rua ' -galician or portuguese last name . -His mother is 'Meneses Aguirre ' .Meneses is also portuguese ,but I dont know if you have heard that

- 'Aguirre ' is one of the most or the more extended basque origin last name ,there almost 'million/s' of Aguirre everywhere and Not all of them have parents, grandparents or great grandparents born in basque country or region or in America or Asia from basque parents, grandparents or greatgrandparents .

-The parents of 'Francisco de Aguirre' (Francisco de la Rua Meneses)were not born in the basque country and were not the grandparents or greatgrandparents either .

Toledo is a very spanish or castilian exponent ,and not precisely a basque man like 'lope de aguirre ' or many others conquistators in America whose parents or grandparents were basque people born in basque country .

So ,I think this 'Aguirre' as a very common or usual lastname could be ok in another list of spanish conquistators or in people from Toledo 'Toledanos' but actually not in the 'list of basques'if you COMPARE with other basque conquistators in that 'list of basque' . This person would be just another exponent of very 'Spanish' conquistator but it is very hard to considerate him, one from 'Toledo ',a basque for this list.

I hope you will understand this all, that's why I ask you to remove this one. I am sure you could find many other non-controversials to replace him in this list.

Thanks a lot. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.78.133.114 (talk) 01:44, 3 August 2008 (UTC) Ok, the comment is by Das Baz, aka Erudil 17:15, 23 September 2008 (UTC)

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on The Messiah at the Gates of Rome, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because The Messiah at the Gates of Rome is very short providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting The Messiah at the Gates of Rome, please affix the template hangon to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. To see the user who deleted the page, click here CSDWarnBot (talk) 06:11, 14 January 2009 (UTC)
I removed the speedy tag for now but you should really add some context to the article. Regards SoWhy 11:03, 14 January 2009 (UTC)

January 19

Hello. I notice that you have re-added an event to the January 19 article. This is not the first (or second. See here and here above) time that you have re-added an event that does not link to a supporting article. I reiterate, each entry must link to an article that supports the entry in full and the article linked does not support the specific date of January 19. This is how we meet verifiability requirements. Refer to WP:DAYS for details on what are acceptable entries in Wikicalendar articles. Your lack of edit summaries doesn't help me to understand your justification for reverting the removals. Thank you. -- Mufka (u) (t) (c) 17:11, 9 February 2009 (UTC)

I certainly appreciate your effort to comply with the requirements of WP:DAYS, but adding unsourced support to an article like you did to Gulf War, isn't really the best way to go about things. Do you have a source for where you got that information? I imagine since you know it, you must have gotten it from somewhere. Can you provide a reference? Thanks. -- Mufka (u) (t) (c) 19:34, 10 February 2009 (UTC)

Yes, see New York Times, January 20, 1991. Das Baz, aka Erudil 19:36, 10 February 2009 (UTC)

That's great, can you properly reference that in the Gulf War article? Remember WP:PROVEIT. -- Mufka (u) (t) (c) 19:37, 10 February 2009 (UTC)
Oh, and do you have a page number for that NYT article? I just want to read up on it. Thanks. -- Mufka (u) (t) (c) 19:41, 10 February 2009 (UTC)

If it is not on the front page, look for it on the index on page 2 of the Times. Das Baz, aka Erudil 19:43, 10 February 2009 (UTC)

The article on the front page says "warheads were reported to have killed no one and only slightly injured about 15 civilians". Judging by that statement this does not seem like a long term globally notable event. It really shouldn't be listed. -- Mufka (u) (t) (c) 19:49, 10 February 2009 (UTC)

A missile attack by one nation to another is certainly a historically important event. However, let us change the number of injuries from 29 to 15. Das Baz, aka Erudil 19:51, 10 February 2009 (UTC)

The attack on January 19 was not the first. The first Iraqi attack was on January 18 with 7 minor injuries. -- Mufka (u) (t) (c) 19:53, 10 February 2009 (UTC)

So the second attack caused twice as many injuries as the first, making it a more serious incident. Das Baz, aka Erudil 19:54, 10 February 2009 (UTC)

I think you're missing the point. If your argument is that the beginning of hostilities between nations is notable, then the first occurrence should be noted - not subsequent. 7 minor injuries vs. 15 minor injuries is inconsequential. It is not notable every time the US kills 20 Iraqi civilians but the first attacks might have been. -- Mufka (u) (t) (c) 19:57, 10 February 2009 (UTC)

A long-distance ballistic missile from one country to another is a serious and important matter, no matter how many casualties, no matter whether it is the first or second. Das Baz aka Erudil 17:07, 13 February 2009 (UTC)

Israel is always getting attacked. An attack that results in only minor injuries is not notable in a long term global sense. We can't reasonably list every time that Israel has a bomb dropped on it. It might be notable to you, but I don't believe that it is notable to the rest of the world. We don't list every battle of a war. The articles would get cluttered with a bunch of meaningless events. Regardless of your response, we should continue this discussion in the more public venue of Talk:January_19 so others can see it. -- Mufka (u) (t) (c) 18:42, 13 February 2009 (UTC)

Signature

Could please fix your signature so that it links to your userpage and talk page? Having a signature without a link makes it difficult to contact you. The formatting of your current signature is

Das Baz, aka Erudil

You can fix the signature by going to your Preferences (on the upper right-hand corner) and replacing the code there with the following code:

Das Baz, aka Erudil

You can see Wikipedia:SIG#Internal_links for the policy stating that signatures must have a link to your page, and Wikipedia:How to fix your signature for more information on how to change your signature. Thank you, rʨanaɢ talk/contribs 20:25, 14 March 2009 (UTC)
The easiest way to add a signature to a talk page post is to simply type ~~~~ at the end of the post. --Ericdn (talk) 20:27, 14 March 2009 (UTC)

Let's see if this works: Das Baz 20:29, 14 March 2009 (UTC)

Yes, it worked. Das Baz 20:30, 14 March 2009 (UTC)
No, it didn't work, because your "signature" still isn't linked. Type ~~~~ at the end of your posts. --Ericdn (talk) 20:33, 14 March 2009 (UTC)

Well, I have thousands of edits. You can't expect me to go back and change them all. Das Baz 20:35, 14 March 2009 (UTC)

No one is expecting you to correct old edits. This is simply advice for the future. I notice you are still not using a proper signature. Type ~~~~ (four "tilde" characters) at the end of each of your posts. If you are still having difficulties with this, let me know, and I'll try to explain it in a more simple way. --Ericdn (talk) 20:38, 14 March 2009 (UTC)

Well, I am typing the four tildes at the end of every edit, including this one. Das Baz 20:40, 14 March 2009 (UTC)

 1. Go to "my preferences"
 2. Put Das Baz, aka Erudil in the box labelled "signature"
 3. Make sure the box labelled Raw signature is checked
 4. Click the "save" button at the bottom
 5. If that still doesn't fix it, bypass your cache rʨanaɢ talk/contribs 20:45, 14 March 2009 (UTC)

Messiah at the Gates of Rome

Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but your recent edit removed maintenance templates from The Messiah at the Gates of Rome. When removing maintenance templates, please be sure to either resolve the problem that the template refers to, or give a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry, as your removal of this template has been reverted. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia, and if you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. These cleanup templates still apply. If you need help editing the article to address the concerns, you can ask for help at WP:WikiProject Judaism or WP:Editor assistance. rʨanaɢ talk/contribs 19:45, 7 March 2009 (UTC)

Please do not remove maintenance templates from pages on Wikipedia, as you did to The Messiah at the Gates of Rome, without resolving the problem that the template refers to, or giving a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. Your removal of this template does not appear constructive, and has been reverted. Thank you. --Ericdn (talk) 18:24, 14 March 2009 (UTC)

But I did resolve the problem. If you think otherwise, please be specific. Das Baz, aka Erudil 18:25, 14 March 2009 (UTC)

The issue should be discussed at Talk:The Messiah at the Gates of Rome. In short, though, I'll say here that I fail to see how you adequately solved the problem. Please do not continue to remove the templates until there is a consensus among editors on the article's talk page that the problem has been solved. Otherwise, your constant reverts may be considered vandalism. --Ericdn (talk) 18:29, 14 March 2009 (UTC)

You are the one being vandalistic, with vague meaningless generalities intended only to harass. Das Baz, aka Erudil 18:31, 14 March 2009 (UTC)

No one is trying to "harass" you; numerous editors over the past two months have pointed out that the article needs serious cleanup and expansion, and for the most part you have been unwilling to take other editors' advice, and have protectively tried to maintain the one version of the article that you like. To be perfectly frank, this is a bad article—it is poorly written and doesn't provide much useful information about the topic, especially for a lay reader. Rather than attacking anyone who criticizes the article's current state, you should be working to improve the article itself. rʨanaɢ talk/contribs 20:29, 14 March 2009 (UTC)

I have accepted and followed through on every concrete suggestion that has been made. But a claim that there are "errors" -withiout naming any concrete examples - cannot be followed through, and is nothing but harassment. Das Baz 15:55, 17 March 2009 (UTC)

August 2009

I would like to remind you not to attack other editors, as you did on Talk:New Chronology (Rohl). Please comment on the contributions and not the contributors. Take a look at WP:AGF. Thank you. Dougweller (talk) 05:58, 26 August 2009 (UTC)

I came here to note the same thing, and also to ask you to change your signature. I see you were given instructions above in March (Signature section), but still haven't done it. It is expected that signatures link back to user talk pages; please do so soon (ask for help if necessary). You can just go to Preferences, User profile, and delete what's in the signature box, Save. Rd232 talk 08:25, 26 August 2009 (UTC)

I meant not attack; I just pointed out the facts. I've tried to change the signature and to follow the instructions, but I got nowhere. OK, I am asking for help on that.Das Baz 23:06, 27 August 2009 (UTC)

Here are the exact instructions, all over again:
 1. Go to "my preferences"
 2. Put Das Baz, aka Erudil in the box labelled "signature"
 3. Make sure the box labelled Sign my name exactly as shown is checked
 4. Click the "save" button at the bottom
 5. If that still doesn't fix it, bypass your cache

Do you have any citations for Julie (aka 84) being from Argos? There is an oddity in the RPG that she takes extra damage from argonite weapons (and it's a little odd that she's the first one on her side of the family to get powers), but deducing that this makes her Argonese seems to be OR. (On the other hand I wait for the TPB versions to come out every six months so I may be a few issues behind.) RJFJR (talk) 17:43, 14 January 2010 (UTC) See issue 42 and the cover of 43. She is an Argonian, no doubt about it. Das Baz, aka Erudil 17:45, 15 January 2010 (UTC)

And please tell me more about the RPG; I've never seen it. What do we learn from it about Argos, Atlas, Dax, the FISS, Julie, Ron, etc.? Das Baz, aka Erudil 17:47, 15 January 2010 (UTC)

I've only read through issue 39 since I wait for the TPBs. The RPG is copyrighted February 2008.

84 (Julie Finster) Under Disadvantages there are two interesting ones:

vulnerability: 2 x body from Argonite wapons (uncommon)
vulnerability: 2 x stun from Argonite weapons (Uncommon)

In the text there is a section "She's a sweet natured girl who very much wants to be a hero and help people. Unfortunately, because her powers are so "common" she's concluded that she's really "nothing special" and probably won't ever get to do anything amazing with her life. What's really ironic about this is that, unbeknownst to anyone outside of the PS238 testing labs, she's nearly as strong, tough, and fast as Captain Clarinet! She's actually one of the most physically powerful metaprodigies at the school... and she shows real promise to become one of the mightiest heroes on the planet as she grows older and her powers mature."

stats are

 • STR 33 (lift: 4,8000 kg)
 • DEX 36
 • CON 26
 • BODY 10

For Captain Clarinet I just noticed his Argon name: MO-RON "RON" PETERSON. (what idiot would name his son 'Mo-Ron'?!!!)

 • STR 35 (lift 6,400 kg)
 • DEX 30
 • CON 30
 • BODY 10

vulnerability: 2 x body from Argonite wapons (uncommon)
vulnerability: 2 x stun from Argonite weapons (Uncommon)

He's eight according tot he RPG.

Captain Clarinet is a metaprodigy of famous lineage: his father is Ul-Ron, better known as Atlas, an alien who came to earth and was one of the first modern superheroes. His mother is a Human woman whom Atlas fell in love with.

A the son of Atlas, Captain Clarinet (a name he chose because of his love of playing music) is one of the most physically powerful, if not the most physically powerful, superhumans of his generation. A metahuman with the FISS (flight, invulnerability, strength and speed) power set, he can lift over six metric tons and is difficult to hurt by any means.

There's a paragraph on atlas but it just recaps the comic where Tyler went time travelling, and a couple of mentions in lists.

The section on Julie does mention she's related to Susie Finster, and that her family doesn't necessarily want to associate with the nuclear family (they're just glad their daughter isn't radioactive.)

There's nothing in the index about 'Dax'.

Happy 2010!

Hi Das Baz, If you're still interested in my master's thesis on Nathanael West (or, more specifically, the chapter on comic strips)please send me your email address and I'll send it by attachment. Best wishes, Frankly speaking (talk) 09:53, 25 January 2010 (UTC) PS We discussed Tintin a while ago, but I never heard from you again.

I have nominated List of fictional Pharaohs, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of fictional Pharaohs. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.
Please contact me if you're unsure why you received this message. Pcap ping 13:42, 7 February 2010 (UTC)

Please do not delete this fun list. Thank you. Das Baz, aka Erudil 18:04, 11 February 2010 (UTC)

Das Baz - Please consider finding and adding sources and in-line citations for each of the entries in this list. I added a couple in just a few minutes. You are much more knowledgeble of the subject so you should be able to find sources that meet the WP:Verify policy. It will go a long way in defence of your article.--Mike Cline (talk) 04:25, 14 February 2010 (UTC)

Thank you, Mike! I shall do what I can as soon as I can. Das Baz, aka Erudil 20:59, 16 February 2010 (UTC)
