My Article on J&J's Sandwich Shop
I apologize, the J&J's article was my first and as yet is not complete, the article has exiusrted for less than 24 hrs and already you put up a red flag, I protest! And also I must wonder how did you stumble upon it? --Tennekis 02:01, 2 April 2007 (UTC)
Thanks
I see, thank you for telling me, and I apologize for not signing, as I normally just airbrush an article here and there, and as such am not used to talk pages. But rest assured I will try to assert the notability of the article.Tennekis 02:05, 2 April 2007 (UTC)

Man, I've never seen some type so fast, kudos. But just to be sure, you want me to state explicitly why my article , about yon sandewich shp, deseves to be on wikipedia?

What?
What did I vandalize on, sir? The official colors for the Toronto Raptors are Purple, Black, Silver, White, and Red. Just because they don't wear purple on their jerseys doesn't mean they're not purple. They have purple on their logo, and they did NOT officially change their colors. Watch ESPN. Their name is highlighted in PURPLE PURPLE PURPLE. I'm sorry good sir, but I know a lot about this team and I know for a fact that they did not get rid of purple in their official color scheme. I repeat myself you do NOT need to wear the color in order for it to be an official color. I can name atleast 10 other teams that do this. Now please, sir, I'm sorry for my rather verbally rudeness, but I am ashamed to be called a vandalizer for something that is recocculus, respunculus, and all that mumbo jumbo. Good day to you, kind sir! 24.173.212.22 01:27, 3 April 2007 (UTC)
Your message about Club Penguin
Hello Danski14:
I'm in receipt of your message here this evening as I came on to Wikipedia. My home/office is on a wireless system, however, I do have a child living in my house who does have a Club Penguin account. After reading your message I can assure you that I have spoken to him and his mother about the situation you messaged me about. Although he claims he didn't know what Wikipedia was, he has been instructed never to do whatever he may have done did to the Club Penguin Timeline you sent the comment about.
I recently had a issue with an article that was written which was just straighten out with Wikipedia and I can assure you this was not by my hand on my computer. The boy's Club Penguin account will now be canceled due to his troubled past with this service. This is not the first time I received something like this as Club Penguin themselves wrote me about his account once before.
Please accept my apologies for any distrubance in the page you mentioned and know that I am dealing with the child and his actions which lead to you post your message to my IP address.
Sincerely,
Rick Tugman. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 66.229.130.101 (talk) 02:13, 3 April 2007 (UTC).
What?
I'm sorry myself, and I will consider making an account in the future. Toronto Raptors are still purple, but people change it, and it's kind of annoying, considering I like the Raptor's unique colors. It just gets to me, for some odd reason. Thank you, Danski, I accept any apologies. Adios! 24.173.212.22 02:57, 3 April 2007 (UTC)

your response to my comment on notability
I don't know how this works but how am I not being neutral? And what would be un neutral it is not like i am going on and on about how cool and remarkable it is I am stated the facts in a very complete manner and doing a good job at telling the story, so I think my pov is fine. And if the case of it being deleted is the pov couldn't I get someone else to write problem solved right? Well no the issue isn't the pov, at least it wasn't it was the notability or that is what I was told. Thank you for trying to help. TheMaleSeahorse 22:38, 3 April 2007 (UTC)

I got a message directed towards my IP address, as I don't believe I had registered for Wikipedia until moments later. However, what you said may have been the case. Either way, thanks for responding to me. Kamon137 01:54, 5 April 2007 (UTC)

Vandalism
Nuclear froggy 20:08, 25 April 2007 (UTC) Just came across some vandalism on this article Smelly. Nuclear froggy 20:46, 27 April 2007 (UTC) Yes I'm back! Just looking at the article Smelly (no I'm not obsessed with it) and I think you or some other moderator should disable editing for unregistered or newly registered users, I'm sure there this would stop most vandalism on this page and we won't have to keep reverting. Thanks.
Vandal User:Gpuollockca1965
You may like to be aware that the above listed user committed some more blatant vandalism on the page Worku Tesfamichael. I do not know what the procedure is but since you commented on his vandalism before I would ask you to take action in the appropriate manner. Thank you! --Merhawie 21:20, 28 April 2007 (UTC)
Re: Ronald Collé
I honestly don't remember exactly why I removed the notability template, but I think it was the discussion on the talk page and the discussion on the AfD. Apparently he is notable due to his position and works published. (WP:PROF is pretty open to these kind of bios). But you bring up a good point: there might just not be enough published information available to make an accurate article, especially where WP:BLP is concerned. Someone did mention some sources "who's who" on the talk page, but they do not look accessible. Hopefully someone will find something. Oh, and feel free to re-add the notability template if you want. It might encourage other editors to try to improve it. I won't remove it. Danski14(talk) 00:58, 28 March 2007 (UTC)
- I put it back. If nothing has changed in a month, I think it'll be time to run it through AfD again. —Disavian (talk/contribs) 01:18, 28 March 2007 (UTC)
- I renominated it, but WP:V doesn't seem to matter. —Disavian (talk/contribs) 04:54, 29 April 2007 (UTC)
sorry. my cousin told me about that and i thought it might be true.

Hello, Danski14. An automated process has found and removed an image or media file tagged as nonfree media, and thus is being used under fair use that was in your userspace. The image (Image:Holy Tech.jpg) was found at the following location: User:Danski14/misc. This image or media was attempted to be removed per criterion number 9 of our non-free content policy. The image or media was replaced with Image:NonFreeImageRemoved.svg , so your formatting of your userpage should be fine. Please find a free image or media to replace it with, and or remove the image from your userspace. User:Gnome (Bot)-talk 08:02, 16 May 2007 (UTC)
Undone your reversion to Newcastle University Union Society - not actually vandalism
Just to let you know I've just undone the revert on Newcastle University Union Society which you did on 17/5/07. I'm afraid you incorrectly identified the posts in question as vandalism when they actually were factually correct. Please see www.unionsociety.co.uk to corroborate if needed. I understand the user in question (128.240.229.65) had been involved in some vandalism of other subjects, but this is a shared IP address.

Redirect of Shannon dunn
Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Shannon dunn, by Mschel, another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Shannon dunn is a redirect to a non-existent page (CSD R1).
To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Shannon dunn, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Please note, this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion, it did not nominate Shannon dunn itself. Feel free to leave a message on the bot operator's talk page if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot. --Android Mouse Bot 2 02:48, 4 June 2007 (UTC)
Orphaned non-free image (Image:Tiesto Magik 1.jpg)
Thanks for uploading Image:Tiesto Magik 1.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 20:49, 10 July 2007 (UTC)

Duplicate images uploaded
Thanks for uploading Image:ThePrivateRepress.jpg. A machine-controlled robot account noticed that you also uploaded the same image under the name Image:B00008DYYH.01. SCLZZZZZZZ .jpg. The copy called Image:B00008DYYH.01. SCLZZZZZZZ .jpg has been marked for speedy deletion since it is redundant. If this sounds okay to you, there is no need for you to take any action.
This is an automated message- you have not upset or annoyed anyone, and you do not need to respond. In the future, you may save yourself some confusion if you supply a meaningful file name and refer to 'my contributions' to remind yourself exactly which name you chose (file names are case sensitive, including the extension) so that you won't lose track of your uploads. For tips on good file naming, see Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions about this notice, or feel that the deletion is inappropriate, please contact User:Staecker, who operates the robot account. Staeckerbot 00:30, 26 July 2007 (UTC)

Replaceable fair use Image:James_Hendler.gif
Thanks for uploading Image:James_Hendler.gif. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the image description page and edit it to add
{{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}
, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template. - On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that fair use images which could be replaced by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted 7 days after this notification, per our Fair Use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Calliopejen1 22:05, 9 August 2007 (UTC)

I am trying to adhere to the strange rules of Wikipedia. It intrigues me how a sophomore could become an administrator for the RPI site. However, you seem "fair and balanced." The RPI article is better documented than most. Any edits I post are meant to be the truth, and I will supply documentation as appropriate. Perhaps we should communicate directly. My email address is nauman@rpi.edu.

Fair use rationale for Image:AD-120.jpg
Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:AD-120.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Fair use disputed for Image:AD-120.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:AD-120.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our Criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Jay32183 03:47, 29 August 2007 (UTC)

WikiMapia
Hello. I'm Wikimapia activist. Recently I added some informations to the page about it and later I saw that you corrected my work. I'd like to thank you for your correction, because my english is not good. At one point I think that you misunderstood my intentions. I added information that Wikimapia interface was translated completely in 25 languages. I'd like to explain: Wikimapia supports 64 languages and that mean that you may select one of 64 languages for site interface. Of that 64 supported languages, 25 were translated from english in 100%. All other languages were not completely translated and they are containing english words. I hope that you understand my point. Please take a look at [2]. X-Toryu (talk) 09:09, 27 January 2008 (UTC)
Question about blocked IP's
Hi,
I work for a city council and it seems that there is a blocking issue on wikipedia caused by rogue users (possibly in the public library) causing vandalism etc.
Is there any way we can set it so that we can give wikipedia some IP addresses and it can be made so only registered users can edit from those addresses?

Meet up at RPI?
Hi there. I've noticed you're pretty active on the RPI article (among others), and that you're a sophomore at RPI. I've had the crazy idea of putting together a Wikipedia editing party for some time, and I decided to drop you a line to see if you're interested. I reckon we could ask other active Wikipedians at RPI (like OneScholar, and I'm sure there are others) if they're around. You know, like hang out in a room on campus and hardcore improve some deserving articles that need it, and like feed off each other in real time.
I dunno if your schedule is packed for the rest of the semester, but I figured I'd reach out and see what you thought. I'm a junior in CSYS and ECON, and honestly I shouldn't be spending too much spare time editing, but you know how it is. Drop me a line on my talk page, or look up my email or AIM s/n on Facebook. -FrankTobia (talk) 05:50, 14 February 2008 (UTC)
RPI Players
Oops - sorry about that! I moved the article into User:Biteythesquirrel's userspace, namely to User:Biteythesquirrel/RPI Players. The move left behind a redirect and I didn't clean up after myself. Sorry about that! I've deleted it now, leaving the page in Bts's userspace to be cleaned up and perhaps made into a real article.
As an aside, the user is totally new to Wikipedia. Perhaps you could be a tad more gentle, not WP:BITE, and maybe try to help them become a productive editor? Just a small request :) -- SatyrTN (talk / contribs) 06:48, 15 February 2008 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Arresteddevelopment-104.jpg)
Thanks for uploading Image:Arresteddevelopment-104.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 18:46, 6 March 2008 (UTC)

Arrested Development
I have not removed the useful information, just sourced trivia that is discouraged and unsourced, I was thinking of putting up all the episodes for deletion as they contained nothing useful and simple speculation and original research, see the guidelines for television episodes. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not a collection of jokes. The stuff that I thought was worthy of inclusion I've left. I'm giving these articles a chance to survive, and am doing it all per Wiki guidelines. The Dominator (talk) 22:56, 6 March 2008 (UTC)
- I'm starting to have doubts about these articles, they're all unsourced, violate several episode guidelines, and other guidelines such as POV, verifiability, trivia, original research, if these articles can't be rid of that, then they have to be deleted. The Dominator (talk) 23:04, 6 March 2008 (UTC)
- Check out Cape Feare or any other good or featured article on television episodes to see what they contain and hat they don't. They don't have trivia, and they have out of universe commentary that is sourced. I've left some episode notes that reflect onto production and some interesting cultural references and I'm being generous because they are also unsourced. How is a section that explains jokes encyclopedic? It just doesn't belong, if you wish to add content like that go to TV.com or a fan site. Wikipedia only accepts sourced encyclopedic info. Besides, how can you keep an article like those, yeah, they reference things! That's because it's a series based on running jokes, that doesn't mean you have to write the occurrence of the joke in every episode. Each episode has to create notability on its own, if there haven't been reliable secondary sources written on each episode maybe they don't belong on Wikipedia. Me, I'm for them staying here if they can be cleaned up per the guidelines on television episodes. If not, the important plot stuff is already said in the main article, so a merge and redirect would be in order. I've left a note on the talk page of Arrested Development, and please don't label my attempts to clean up hideous looking articles as vandalism. The Dominator (talk) 23:28, 6 March 2008 (UTC)
- Well I consider myself more of an inclusionist as well and I'm a fairly recent fan of AD, and I certainly agree that the info I removed is fun and interesting, but when it comes to editing Wikipedia, I don't consider those factors. If it's not encyclopedic I remove it, I'm going to look for some sources and maybe I'll buy the AD DVDs and use the commentary as a source. I've left some of the "future references" because they are pretty obvious, but some are speculation. The cultural references are OK, for example, I don't need a source to say that Michael mentioned Magellan and Cortes. I almost blue myself when I saw the bad state the articles were in, it's just that, for example, the running joke section is kind of dumb to me, because they reference the Tobias-gay thing almost every episode and you'll never be able to get everything anyway. The background jokes pretty much just explained jokes and that just doesn't belong on Wikipedia. Things like characters repeating lines, so it's a catch phrase, doesn't need to be mention on every page. The Dominator (talk) 00:09, 7 March 2008 (UTC)

Advice on The B Sides
Hey, I was looking through Category:Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and doing some maintenance when I came across The B Sides. A few fruitless Google searches later, I'm thinking it's non-notable. And personally, I've never heard of this show, not that I'm involved in WRPI or anything. So my questions to you are: 1) do you agree with me that it's almost definitely non-notable? and 2) if not, can you think of anywhere to look for reliable sourcing? I'm not one to enjoy getting stuff deleted, but there doesn't look to be any useful information even to merge. Thanks. -FrankTobia (talk) 13:17, 30 March 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks for nominating them. I much prefer inclusionism, but sometimes articles need to go.
- I'm glad the Free Culture wiki managed to circulate a bit in the community. I haven't had time to formally kick off Students for Free Culture at RPI yet, but next year it's going to be in full force. You should read the manifesto to see if you're interested. I'd like to hang out and do some hardcore editing (like rewriting pages that need it, instead of just wikignoming like I do) some time this semester. Given the crazy workload I'm thinking at the very end; I specifically like those two study days. I'm going to advertise for it, but I don't really expect anyone to care (yet). Can you make it to something like that? Thanks, let me know what you think: if we decide on a good date I can contact all the other RPI Wikipedians I've seen around. -FrankTobia (talk) 16:02, 6 April 2008 (UTC)

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:AD110.jpg}
Thank you for uploading Image:AD110.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image under "fair use" may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the image description page and add or clarify the reason why the image qualifies for fair use. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check:
- That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's escription page for each article the image is used in.
- That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.
Please be aware that a fair use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for images used under the fair use policy require both a copyright tag and a fair use rationale.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it might be deleted by adminstrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. Motto of the day
Hello, I notice you're using one of the {{motd}} templates, run by Wikipedia:Motto of the day. You may have noticed that some of the mottos recently have been followed by a date from 2006, or on occasion simply "Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia". The reason for this is that Motto of the day is in some very serious need of help. Participation in the project, which has never been especially high, has dropped considerably over this past summer, to the point we have had several days where no motto was scheduled to appear at all. Over the past several weeks, I've been the only editor scheduling mottos at all, but there aren't enough comments on some of these mottos to justify their use. If we do not get some help - and soon - your daily mottos will stop. In order for us to continue updating these templates for you, we need your help.
When you get a chance between your normal editing, could you stop by our nominations page and leave a few comments on some of the mottos there, especially those that do not have any comments yet? This works very simply; you read a motto, decide whether or not you like it, and post your opinion just below the motto. That's it - no experience required, just an idea of what you personally like and what you feel reflects Wikipedia and its community. If you do have past experience with the project, then please close some of the older nominations once they've got a decent consensus going. There are directions on the nominations page on how to do this.
If you have any questions, please let me know, or post on the project's talk page. I'm looking forward to reading your comments on the suggested mottos, and any additional suggestions you'd like to make. Until then, happy editing! Hersfold (t/a/c) 01:51, 4 September 2008 (UTC)

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Winslow Chemical Laboratory, and it appears to include a substantial copy of http://www.rpi.edu/dept/library/html/archives/buildings/winslow.html. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. See our copyright policy for further details.
This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. CorenSearchBot (talk) 03:02, 13 March 2009 (UTC)
Speedy deletion of Winslow Chemical Laboratory
A tag has been placed on Winslow Chemical Laboratory requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words.
If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. -Senseless!... says you, says me 03:03, 13 March 2009 (UTC)

Andrew Truxal has been nominated for a good article reassessment. Articles are typically reviewed for one week. Please leave your comments and help us to return the article to good article quality.
