[edit]Your recent bold edit has been reverted. Per the bold, revert, discuss cycle, after a bold edit is reverted, the status quo should remain while a discussion is started instead of edit-warring, and it should be resolved before reinstating the edit, after a needed consensus is formed to keep it. "The BOLD, revert, discuss cycle (BRD) is an optional method of reaching consensus." That is, it's an optional method. The small edit I made contains biographically relevant, factual information about Bobby Orr's controversial endorsement of Donald Trump in the 2020 election. I published it in the proper section of the article, where it should remain. Thanks. Danny B MT (talk) 17:44, 2 August 2021 (UTC)

[edit]Please refrain from making unconstructive edits to Wikipedia, as you did at Bobby Orr. Your edits appear to be disruptive and have been or will be reverted.
- If you are engaged in an article content dispute with another editor, please discuss the matter with the editor at their talk page, or the article's talk page, and seek consensus with them. Alternatively, you can read Wikipedia's dispute resolution page, and ask for independent help at one of the relevant noticeboards.
- If you are engaged in any other form of dispute that is not covered on the dispute resolution page, please seek assistance at Wikipedia's Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents.
Please ensure you are familiar with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines, and please do not continue to make edits that appear disruptive. Continued disruptive editing may result in loss of editing privileges. Thank you. Ravenswing 18:33, 2 August 2021 (UTC)
Please advise on how my edits were in any way "unconstructive." They were all factually grounded and helped provide a perspective that was missing from the page. Bobby Orr's endorsement of a presidential candidate in the 2020 election is a fact that has had a very real impact on how he is viewed by many of his fans. Danny B MT (talk) 18:43, 2 August 2021 (UTC)
- You have been directed to the talk page of the article, where an extensive discussion took place last November. You have neither sought to refute the points raised there, or how in the course of a very famous career this relatively trivial, ephemeral incident does not involve WP:UNDUE. Rather than engaging in a discussion on the subject, you've repeatedly reverted to your own version, in violation of WP:3RR. While this is the first time you have edited Wikipedia in a dozen years, you are still responsible for knowing the pertinent policies and guidelines involving posting. Request reason:
The information I posted on the Bobby Orr bio page is factually correct, properly cited, and well placed in the context of the article. It violates no policy and there is no valid reason for it to be withheld from the page. It does not state opinion, only fact. The paragraph should be restored and I should be unblocked. Thank you. Danny B MT (talk) 22:56, 2 August 2021 (UTC)
Decline reason:
Please show where you obtained consensus for your change. A number of objections, including WP:UNDUE, were raised on the talk page and it doesn't look to me like you achieved consensus. Yamla (talk) 23:04, 2 August 2021 (UTC)
If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.
I stand by my edits of the Bobby Orr page and, frankly, this whole situation reeks of censorship. It is a fact that Bobby Orr took out a full-page advertisement in the New Hampshire Union Leader endorsing Donald Trump. This was a significant action taken by Mr. Orr, and it alienated many fans, like myself, who have idolized and looked up to him over the course of the past 50 years. As Bobby Orr has carefully crafted and guarded his reputation since his playing days, it was an action that clearly stood out as being out-of-character. What I am trying to say is that it is the most significant event in Mr. Orr's personal life in recent memory and should be reflected on his bio page. I found the appropriate place in the article (the personal life section) and I was careful to stick to the facts, not to state opinion, and to cite to the relevant source.
But perhaps painting a one-sided, carefully curated, rosy-lensed version of Bobby Orr is more important to this group of gatekeepers than factual accuracy.
While I am not an experienced editor here, the experience of having my valid contributions denied and being blocked leaves me with no desire to become one. Danny B MT (talk) 17:03, 3 August 2021 (UTC)
- If that's the way you insist looking upon it. However, Wikipedia has policies and guidelines governing how it operates. You are required to seek consensus for contentious information on the appropriate talk pages, especially where biographies of living people are concerned. You are required to engage on talk pages when you are requested to do so. WP:UNDUE is a content policy you are required to take into consideration when posting information. WP:BLP requires that you "[s]ummarize how actions and achievements are characterized by reliable sources without giving undue weight to recent events. Do not label people with contentious labels, loaded language ..."
You did none of this, and given your attempt to slap a non-extant category on the article -- Enablers of Donald Trump -- perhaps you might reconsider disparaging the motives of others while boasting of the purity of your own. (For my part, fewer than one in every 500 of my edits have been to the Orr page. Fewer than one in 2500 of Vaselineeeeeeee's has been. Fewer than one in 8000 of Davidgoodheart's have been. GoodDay's made exactly three over the course of twelve years. No one can claim, with any legitimacy or sanity, that we're here on Wikipedia solely to push our POV on this article.) Now if you'd like to take a crack at engaging with people, and furthermore to accept consensus even if you don't like the result -- which we all must here -- go for it. If, by contrast, your sole purpose here is to push your POV on this or any other article, that won't work out so well. Ravenswing 16:35, 4 August 2021 (UTC)
Censorship and Blocking
[edit]I have attempted to contact other editors for help but have not been able to as I was blocked for posting the following edit to Bobby Orr's biography page yesterday.
It is important to note that the page currently contains no mention of Orr's very public endorsement of the former U.S. president on the eve of the 2020 election, or of the controversy that it created. In fact, many fans were disheartened by Orr's endorsement and it was a significant action that deserves mention in his biography. The fact that so many editors so quickly jumped on me for posting it indicates that there is a strong desire on the part of some to keep Orr's very public support of the controversial president out of his biography in an attempt to sanitize the page at the expense of accuracy.
Here is the paragraph I was attempting to add to the page. If you feel it needs to be sourced more heavily, please let me know. Everything stated in the paragraph is verifiably true.
"On October 30, 2020, on the eve of the American presidential election, Orr took out a full page advertisement in the New Hampshire Union Leader endorsing the re-election of the controversial U.S. President Donald Trump. Despite Orr's glowing endorsement, in which he called Trump "the kind of teammate I want," Trump lost the election by a large margin."

- This is your only warning. If you make personal attacks against other editors, as you did here, you risk being blocked.--Bbb23 (talk)
- Please forgive me for speaking the truth Bbb23, my experience this week has shown me how that is treated here. I will not attempt to contribute again. Danny B MT (talk) 21:47, 6 August 2021 (UTC)
- If you don't believe you can contribute without making personal attacks on other editors, or that you can accept a collaborative environment when consensus is against you, or that you feel that you are not required to follow Wikipedia's policies or guidelines as long as you believe yourself in the right, then you are the best judge of your ability to cope with the way we do things here.
