Pipe Organ "revival"
[edit]What did you have in mind? Are there any pages in particular you'd like to see fleshed out? Cheers! W0lfie (talk) 18:43, 29 December 2011 (UTC)
- Good question! I will post my thoughts on what I think should be done on the project discussion page right away. Cheers, Danmuz (talk) 10:48, 30 December 2011 (UTC)
- Thanks for inviting me to help revive the project. Real life really gets in the way of this sort of thing! But I would love to help out as I have time. For several years I've dreamed of bumping Pipe organ to FA status; perhaps a goal that is too far-fetched for the time being. We might have more luck with other articles: Organ pipe might not be too difficult, for example. —Cor anglais 16 01:08, 5 January 2012 (UTC)
- You're welcome and thanks for helping! It would be great to get Pipe Organ to FA, but I'm not sure what it would take to get there? What need to be improved? Good idea about Organ Pipe, a good place to start with that article is adding references to the article. I think that alone could make it a B-class article. Danmuz (talk) 09:55, 5 January 2012 (UTC)

- Thank you for reminding about WikiProject Pipe Organ! I try to do here something, when I have a time.--Jyriorgan1 (talk) 04:55, 6 January 2012 (UTC)
- Thank you also for reminding me. As with the previous user I can try to do something when I have time, but it will have to be something small and specific. Best wishes for reviving this project! RGB2 (talk) 07:01, 6 January 2012 (UTC)
- Thank you for responding, Jyriorgan1 and RGB2! We can of course all only do so much as we have time to, but everything helps, and I think it is worthwhile to keep the project alive. Kind regards, Danmuz (talk) 14:02, 8 January 2012 (UTC)
Reviving WikiProject PipeOrgan
[edit]Danmuz,
I would like to help revive this project.
a) I made a recommendation to include a list of notable organists.
b) We should merge "Pipe organ" with "Organ pipe"
c) the world's largest pipe organs should be a list on the main page "Pipe organ"
d) Need lots more links to video and music and photos
bewporteous — Preceding unsigned comment added by Bewporteous (talk • contribs) 21:13, 11 January 2012 (UTC)
- Hello, Bewporteous,
Thanks for contributing to the project with ideas! Starting backwards I agree it's a good idea with more multimedia content.
- I'm not sure whether a list of the largest organs should go into the pipe organ article itself, but a link to the current list should definitely be easier to find in the article - and speaking of that list, it could use improvement!
- Merging Pipe Organ with Organ Pipe would probably make the Pipe Organ article too extensive, I think
- How would your list of notable organists differ from the current List of organists?
Kind regards, Danmuz (talk) 16:53, 16 January 2012 (UTC)

Hello there
[edit]Hi Danmuz, as you might have guessed, I'm relatively new to editing Wikipedia, so would like to understand more about why you're assisting Saddhiyama in promulgating misinformation about the true origins of what we now know as Lego blocks. I only have an interest in the correct information, and my goal isn't to vandalise anything or cause anyone disrespect. However, the version that Saddhiyama keeps on reverting to has the "development" of Lego blocks in Denmark, when it is clearly in England (origin). I would very much appreciate your suggestion as to how we can have this error corrected other than me being continually accused of vandalism (which, again, is not m intent). thanks, Robin. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 60.234.212.234 (talk) 09:06, 14 April 2012 (UTC)
- Hello Robin, I will answer you here. First of all, thanks for the civil and constructive message. My goal was (and is) not to assist Saddhiyama or any particular editor, but an edit-war has erupted over the edits you are proposing at the article Lego. Since the edits you wish to make are a serious change to the (until now) established consensus regarding the article, hence it is your edits that has been reverted. The way to go from here is to take the discussion on the Lego Talk page, where you can state your case backed up by reliable sources (Wikipedia itself cannot be used as a source), and if your sources are good enough possibly a new consensus will be established. That is the way it works on Wikipedia. It may seem cumbersome but it is necessary for Wikipedia to function. Kind regards, Danmuz (talk) 11:02, 14 April 2012 (UTC)
- (PS: I see now that you have already started a discussion on the Talk Page today, which is the right course of action. Regards, Danmuz (talk) 11:06, 14 April 2012 (UTC))

[edit]Danmuz are you aware of this?: http://www.doctorsmedicalopinion.com/wiki/User_talk:Danmuz ←Pohutukawa (talk) 21:28, 27 June 2012 (UTC)
- Hello, Pohutukawa, I hadn't seen that particular site before, but there are many similar sites that scrapes content from Wikipedia in order to "trick" people into visiting the site when using search engines. I find it annoying, but apparently they are not doing anything illegal since Wikipedia content is released under a creative commons licence. --Danmuz (talk) 08:45, 28 June 2012 (UTC)
DYK for Frederik Magle

You are welcome to check how many hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, quick check) and it will be added to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. Seeking assessment of St. Wilfrid Club article (NYC-area organists)
[edit]Hi Danmuz, I see you're one of the more-active participants in WikiProject Pipe Organ -- much appreciated! I recently tagged St. Wilfrid Club for inclusion in the project, since it's a notable club of organists in the Greater New York area -- and (as a non-member) I've done a bit of work on the article. I doubt it'll ever rise above "Low" importance (primarily for specialists), and I'm sure there are still some Wikipedia "style" issues -- but I think by now the content might be sufficient to raise the article from Stub to "B" quality rating. Is there a standard procedure for assessment? Please feel free to take a look (at your convenience), and see what you think. Thank you kindly for your consideration. Patrug (talk) 11:15, 30 November 2013 (UTC)
- Hi Patrug! Great work you have done on that article. Yes, you are right, it will likely not rise above "low" on the project importance scale, but that of course does not mean the topic is not worthwhile, just that it is, as you say, primarily of interest for specialists. Regarding the Quality scale you can see a general description of the levels here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:WikiProject_Wikipedia/Assessment#Quality_scale. After your expansion and other improvements the article is certainly no longer a "stub", and in fact it is very close to "C" class, but mainly because it currently relies on a single source I have assessed it as "start" class. It still have some way to go before reaching B, but "C" should be within reach with just a few improvements (especially more references). Regards, --Danmuz (talk) 20:23, 4 December 2013 (UTC)
- Danmuz, thanks very much. While the article is fully referenced for its notable past members, unfortunately there's just one known reference describing the St. Wilfrid Club itself (since it's a private organization). Sorry if this keeps the article in "Start" class and leaves "C" class out of reach. -Patrug (talk) 21:50, 4 December 2013 (UTC)
- You're welcome, Patrug. I'm sorry I could not assess it higher at this point, but don't lose hope. It is a problem that their is only a single source. The sources about the individual members are unfortunately irrelevant in regard to the St Wilfrid Club itself, unless it is specifically mentioned. Speaking of the individual members, the list should probably also conform with the norm for embedded lists in order for the article to reach a C class assessment. See: WP:EMBED. internal links (even if the article is not yet written) would also be preferred instead of the external links. Back to the issue of the single source; are you sure that no additional sources can be found? The club has been in existence since 1908, and even if it is a private club something must have been written. --Danmuz (talk) 12:29, 5 December 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks, Danmuz -- now the links for club members are better. After months of searching online & offline, neither I nor the club officers have been able to find another published reference source describing the club. If we eventually do, it looks like the article already satisfies the other guidelines for "B" quality (criteria 2 through 6). If we can't expand beyond the single source, it looks like we'll have permanent "Start" quality. -Patrug (talk) 08:34, 7 December 2013 (UTC)

Hi again, Danmuz. Over the past year or two, I've gradually added more info & refs for the St. Wilfrid Club article. The club was actually the subject of a meeting announcement in The New York Times (ref #14), and the club was specifically mentioned in the NYT obits of several notable members (ref #4,6,11,15,17,20,31). Together with the main journal citation (ref #1), are these enough to overcome the "single source" objection from Dec 2013 (above)? If so, I think the article now meets the six criteria for "B" class. Many thanks if you agree. —Patrug (talk) 11:17, 14 August 2015 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Ivar Frounberg
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Ivar Frounberg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a band or musician, but it does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Aust331 (talk) 09:58, 22 June 2016 (UTC)
Europe 10,000 Challenge invite
[edit]Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Europe/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like Germany, Italy, the Benelux countries, Iberian Peninsula, Romania, Slovenia etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. If you would like to see masses of articles being improved for Europe and your specialist country like Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon, sign up today and once the challenge starts a contest can be organized. This is a way we can target every country of Europe, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant and also sign under any country sub challenge on the page that you might contribute to! Thank you. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 03:03, 6 November 2016 (UTC)
