Dear Daniel/Archive/12 Thank you very much for voting in my request for adminship. In the end, not many people let their opinion be known, and I didn't get the mop just yet. I have already begun acting on the issues brought up by the community, and will continue to do so. If you have any more suggestions for me, feel free to let me know.

How do you do? Nice user page you have here. I've been brought here by your signature in the talk page at Esperanza. Your signature uses font, which is an ilegal attribute in XHTML, which is what Wp uses for markup. This is a problem, but I don't have the time or energy to try to talk everyone into not using font. Yet, I think that if I explain you the issue and you consider changing "your ways", then maybe we both can convince other people.
I propose you the following alternative code that you may use if you like:
<span style="font-family: Tahoma, sans-serif;">Daniel</span>
Hope that helps. If you are curious, you should check the W3C site for best pratices, as well as many articles at A List Apart. If you have any questions don't hesitate to contact me.
Thank you for your time.--Ivo Emanuel Gonçalves/Saoshyant talk / contribs 12:54, 16 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Daniel. I recalled that you can speak Icelandic so I thought that you might be interested in Iceland and thus interested in Portal:Iceland, which I've just created. Feel free to add any contributions to it as you wish. Best regards.--Húsönd 00:28, 19 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hey there,
Thanks for changing your signature and avoiding the use of font. I'm creating a small project in my userpage that will work as a campaign of sorts to tell others of the issues of an invalid Wikipedia by the use of bad/broken HTML.
Regarding your use of sans-serif, I'm afraid you do not understand that that isn't a type face, but it rather tells your browser to display the default sans-serif font of your operating system (Arial in Windows, DejaVu Sans on Linux). Sans serif refers to letters that aren't "seriffed". Wikipedia already tells the browser to use sans-serif fonts by default (if you can read CSS, you can see for yourself), so while it doesn't hurt to leave the font-family, it's kinda redundant. However, if you were to choose a specific font, like Tahoma, the use of font-family would make sense. Anyway, just trying to share some of my knowledge on this issue, even though you might already know all of it as well.
Oh, and I have a request if you don't mind. I see that you nominate pages for the DYK. Could you try putting Vorbis in there? Ivo Emanuel Gonçalves/Saoshyant talk / contribs
- OK, thanks - I understand now :). Regarding DYK, only articles which are less than 5 days old, or have been expanded greatly (ie. from a stub to a healthy-sized article) in the last 5 days can be accepted, so nominating them would be fruitless. However, if you find a new article, or write one yourself, feel free to ask me, and I'll make one up for you :D. Cheers, Daniel.Bryant 11:58, 21 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
- Hi, thanks for the answer. The Vorbis is of healthy size and around two years old, so I assume it can be a candidate for DYK. Can you help, then?--Ivo Emanuel Gonçalves/Saoshyant talk / contribs 09:22, 23 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Maybe the best layout I've seen...thanks for your prompt revert on Joseph Byrd, but I'd add I also think it's important to have the user in question admonished for their actions, in order to do something to make them cease and desist from something that's affected, from the look of their user log, many other people. My guess is this is a teen that simply gets off, for whatever bizarre reason, on doing what they do, and it truly is annoying. Again, my thanks. Tvccs 13:53, 25 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Greetings! I'm not sure if you've seen it, but there was a discussion here: Wikipedia:Administrators'_noticeboard/Incidents#User:StalinsLoveChild. I'm not entirely sure if it's kosher for the blocking admin (me) to decline the unblock; I was hoping someone else was watching and would do it. SLC is clearly a trolling account. Most of the mainspace edits are minor grammatical tweaks which change nothing, null edits (adding or removing a space), or vandalism/trolling ([2], or especially [3] -- make sure you read all the way to the bottom). After establishing a mainspace presence, he proceeds to troll, and every single user talk edit is a nasty one indeed. After Hawker's apology -- he hadn't really done anything so bad -- SLC began the harassment campaign, targeting Hawker's own picture. Look at his last edit [4] -- this is harassment, and has no value towards our goal, which is building an encyclopedia.
When we face users like this, we need to ask two questions: 1) is this person here to help us build an encyclopedia? 2) if not, is this person actively interfering with those of us who are? When the answers are no and yes, respectively, I helieve it is our duty as administrators to show these people the door, with as little drama as possible.
I will post this message, or one closely related, to AN/I. Thanks! Antandrus (talk) 14:50, 25 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Daniel. Thank you for your suggestion. I was thinking of creating a report at Wikipedia:Suspected_sock_puppets instead, because I doubt another checkuser will turn out anything more fruitful than the last one. I will be compiling a thorough list of similarities either tonight or tomorrow night. What is your opinion? BhaiSaab talk 11:13, 26 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
- That's probably the best idea, yes - as you can see from Wikipedia:Requests for checkuser/Case/Hkelkar and Wikipedia:Requests for checkuser/Case/Subhash bose, technical evidence is plagued by the fact he edits from a shared IP. Because WP:SSP is more style-based, this would probably be best suited. An excellent judgement by you for suggesting this, however one word of advice - complile your evidence at once, and submit, rather than staggering it, and adding diffs here-and-there - that will only feed him. I also recommend you compile it in a user subpage, ie. User:BhaiSaab/SSP or similar, as this will make it easier to do what I mentioned before. Cheers, Daniel.Bryant 11:18, 26 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
- I have not yet compiled a list in my own userspace because I don't want it to be mistaken as an attack on another user and then the page will be put up for deletion by someone else. I will probably compile the list offline. If I say so myself, I have a knack for detecting sockpuppetry (this case which was successful). I will be following a similar format for the case regarding Hkelkar. BhaiSaab talk 11:44, 26 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Why did you remove your statement? Can't you leave your statement posted and then say you want to remain uninvolved? I found it insightful. BhaiSaab talk 21:32, 30 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Daniel, I have seen your contributions everywere and I think that you should run for administratorship. Even though your first try was unsuccessfull I still think that over time your mistake was and should be forgotten. I would be very upset if all wikipedians were judged on their mistakes, I for example was blocked for using a sockpuppet I fought the block after 2 unblock requests and now I have 8 awards and have over 1000 edits. If you run I would support you and I think others will too, you have shown maturity and I would trust you with the extra buttons, have a nice day--SeadogTalk 12:43, 26 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

- No thanks. I'm still in consultation with other admins regarding a number of advanced topics related to administration, and I want to wait for these to finish before being nominated. Hopefully, I should be strutting my stuff on the catwalk in about 5-6 weeks. Cheers, Daniel.Bryant 09:42, 27 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I saw your comments in Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Achaia Football Clubs Association and I want to tell you that I strongly agree with you. The guys there told me that I am anti-Greek and it only has no interest by me. How ever what I see all the foreigns who came supported its deletion. However, after they saw that they had no support, they coaliated and together agreed to find more Greeks to save the article, eventhough the non-Greeks do not want it (see contributions of FocalPoint, user:Tony esopi patra and more specifically of Georgeg). I would like from you if you could help and bring more people to vote DELETE because in wikipedia there will be an article eventhough is unimportant because some Greeks feel so patriotic to have stupid information in wikipedia (not a coincidence that they called me Anti-Greek). KRBN 16:36, 25 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
- Frankly, sorry, but I'm not going to do what I berated them for doing - "I would like from you if you could help and bring more people to vote DELETE because in wikipedia" - and it is unethical, as well as against Wikipedia's meatpuppet policy, as well as a deliberate attempt to circumvent concensus, which is a blockable offence for disruption. Daniel.Bryant 22:15, 26 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
You might want to look at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/PAEEK. There may be a possible meatpuppet incident like the discussion about the Achaia Football Clubs Association. Most of the same peoople are involved in both discussions, especially Greek Wikipedia users who have recently made a number of edits, after "voting" on the Afds. T REXspeak 00:54, 27 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
- Sorry, but considering the rabble I faced when I merely suggested it on the AFCA deletion page, I'm retiring from anything to do with these guys... Cheers, Daniel.Bryant 09:44, 27 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Daniel,
You recently said you maybe willing to help with the user message and template harmonistion program. We will be starting the actual changes, we hope within the next week. But prior to that, what we would like from yourself is instead of an evening of vandal fighting or patrolling recent changes, you monitor the RC page for those actually doing the reverts and leaving user page messages. We would like to make as many people aware of the fact that the templates they use are going to change. If you could seek out the RCP's and Cut n Paste the following message to their talk page that would be appreciated, or reworded as you see fit. Thanks for your time. Khukri (talk . contribs) 09:34, 27 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
==Upcoming template changes==
Hi, I've just noticed that you recently left a templated userpage message. I'm just bringing to your attention that the format and context of these templates will be shortly changing. It is recommended that you visit [[WP:UW|WikiProject user warnings]] and harmonisation discussion [[Wikipedia:WikiProject_user_warnings/templates|pages]] to find out how these changes could affect the templates you use. We also would appreciate any insights or thoughts you may have on the subject. Thanks for your understanding. Best regards ~~~~
