Disambiguation link notification for July 10
[edit]Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited List of Latter Day Saints, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Tom Morris. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

CS1 error on List of Latter Day Saints
[edit]Hello, I'm Qwerfjkl (bot). I have automatically detected that this edit performed by you, on the page List of Latter Day Saints, may have introduced referencing errors. They are as follows:
- A "bare URL and missing title" error. References show this error when they do not have a title. Please edit the article to add the appropriate title parameter to the reference. (Fix | Ask for help)
Please check this page and fix the errors highlighted. If you think this is a false positive, you can report it to my operator. Thanks, Qwerfjkl (bot) (talk) 21:06, 11 July 2023 (UTC)

[edit]Dan, please stop using the "bullpen" section of Baseball Reference as a source. That part of the site is user-generated material, and not a WP:RS - especially not for biographical claims. If you need more information or this does not make sense, please contact me with question instead of repeatedly adding the source. Thanks. Sam Kuru (talk) 02:07, 12 July 2023 (UTC)
Too many references
[edit]Welcome to Wikipedia. I notice you've been adding dozens of citations for each entry for baseball players at List of Latter Day Saints. You actually only need one or two references showing that the person is a professional baseball player and that they are a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Having too many references is actually detrimental. See Wikipedia:Citation overkill. Regards, Bahooka (talk) 21:15, 23 July 2023 (UTC)

- Don't be afraid to edit! Just find something that can be improved and make it better. Other editors will help fix any mistakes you make.
- It's normal to feel a little overwhelmed, but don't worry if you don't understand everything at first—it's fine to edit using common sense.
- If an edit you make is reverted, you can discuss the issue at the article's talk page. Be civil, and don't restore the edit unless there is consensus.
- Always use edit summaries to explain your changes.
- When adding new content to an article, always include a citation to a reliable source.
- If you wish to edit about a subject with which you are affiliated, read our conflict of interest guide and disclose your connection.
- Have fun! Your presence in the Wikipedia community is welcome.
Happy editing! Cheers, Bahooka (talk) 15:09, 29 July 2023 (UTC)

I reverted your edit at Alma Richards. I'm not sure why you capitalized so many words. Please take a moment to read the "getting started" tips above. Thanks. Magnolia677 (talk) 22:10, 8 September 2023 (UTC)
- Friend, you really need to slow down. Your edits are filled with unreliable sources, promotional content, and MOS violations. Please learn about Wikipedia before making more large edits. Thanks for your understanding. Magnolia677 (talk) 22:23, 8 September 2023 (UTC)
- Also, please familiarize yourself with MOS:LDS. Per that MOS and MOS:CAPS, "the" is not capitalized in the full name of the full name of the Church, as you've done here and here. Please self-revert that part of your edit. You may disagree with this guidance, but it was the result of a community discussion and should be followed until it is shown that consensus has changed. --FyzixFighter (talk) 04:52, 9 September 2023 (UTC)

Wikipedia and copyright
[edit]Hello DanCandland! Your additions to Alma Richards have been removed in whole or in part, as they appear to have added copyrighted content without evidence that the source material is in the public domain or has been released by its owner or legal agent under a suitably free and compatible copyright license. (To request such a release, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission.) While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from sources to avoid copyright and plagiarism issues.
- You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
- Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify the information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
- We have strict guidelines on the usage of copyrighted images. Fair use images must meet all ten of the non-free content criteria in order to be used in articles, or they will be deleted. To be used on Wikipedia, all other images must be made available under a free and open copyright license that allows commercial and derivative reuse.
- If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a legally designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. Understand, though, that unlike many other sites, where a person can license their content for use there and retain non-free ownership, that is not possible at Wikipedia. Rather, the release of content must be irrevocable, to the world, into either the public domain (PD) or under a suitably free and compatible copyright license. Please see Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
- Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you must follow the copyright attribution steps described at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. See also Help:Translation#License requirements.
It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, please ask them here on this page, or leave a message on my talk page. Thank you. — Diannaa (talk) 15:44, 16 September 2023 (UTC)

[edit]Hi DanCandland! I noticed that you recently marked an edit as minor that may not have been. "Minor edit" has a very specific definition on Wikipedia—it refers only to superficial edits that could never be the subject of a dispute, such as typo corrections or reverting obvious vandalism. Any edit that changes the meaning of an article is not a minor edit, even if it only concerns a single word. Please see Help:Minor edit for more information. You've been marking all your edits as minor. That is for minor spelling or punctuation changes, not major items such as adding content. Bahooka (talk) 05:04, 19 September 2023 (UTC)
- Hi Bahooka, thanks I always wondered what was the difference between minor and anything else. DanCandland (talk) 06:08, 19 September 2023 (UTC)
Your edit to Richard George (athlete) has been removed in whole or in part, as it appears to have added copyrighted material to Wikipedia without evidence of permission from the copyright holder. If you are the copyright holder, please read Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials for more information on uploading your material to Wikipedia. For legal reasons, Wikipedia cannot accept copyrighted material, including text or images from print publications or from other websites, without an appropriate and verifiable license. All such contributions will be deleted. You may use external websites or publications as a source of information, but not as a source of content, such as sentences or images—you must write using your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously, and persistent violators of our copyright policy will be blocked from editing. See Wikipedia:Copying text from other sources for more information. — SamX [talk · contribs] 01:39, 25 September 2023 (UTC)
- Which information was copyrighted and how can I find out if it is copyrighted? DanCandland (talk) 02:15, 25 September 2023 (UTC)
- Any and all external sources are assumed to be copyrighted unless they're works of the US Federal Government, are explicitly released under a license that is compatible with CC-BY-SA 4.0 (the license Wikipedia uses) or are old enough that they have entered the public domain. See Wikipedia:FAQ/Copyright and Wikipedia:Copy-paste for more information. Just about all of the text you added in your recent series of edits was apparently copied and pasted from external websites, and was therefore a copyright violation. — SamX [talk · contribs] 02:21, 25 September 2023 (UTC)
