User talk:Dan-Erik Lindberg
Welcome!
[edit]Hello, Dan-Erik Lindberg, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.
I noticed that one of the first articles you created was User:Dan-Erik Lindberg, which appears to be an article about yourself. This is a common mistake made by new Wikipedians—as this is an encyclopedia, we wouldn't expect to have an article about every contributor. Your user page, however, is a great place to write about yourself, making sure to stay within user page guidelines. Just click your user name at the top of the screen when you are logged in, and edit it normally.
The page you created about yourself may well be deleted from the encyclopedia. If it is deleted and you wish to retrieve its contents, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.
Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your messages on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{help me}}
before the question. Again, welcome! Naraht (talk) 15:53, 1 January 2017 (UTC)

[edit]The "Welcome" that I chose isn't quite the one that I wanted because what I saw was on your user page. User pages tend to be in a different format, you can certainly include information about yourself, but for example Infoboxes tend not to be used and userboxes tend to be. Categories tend to be different between those used for articles and those about Wikipedians. Take a look at other users user pages to see what I mean. Answer to Naraht
[edit]First of all, I'm on mobile and the only option on this page that looks like a way to communicate is to edit your existing text. Therefore, I am editing your text and adding a headline.
When I clicked my username, I was told that this is my own personal page where I can put information about myself. So I did. Now some random Internet dude comes along to tell me that my page will be deleted because he doesn't like my formatting.
If you are a person in charge at Wikipedia, then I suggest that you change the instructions on the user page to give precise instructions on what is allowed to be put there. If you are not in charge of making those kind of decisions then I suggest that you stop harassing new users with your irrelevant comments. Thank you and good bye.
- Your response method is cool. And lots of people use mobile for editing, my phone is ancient enough that trying to edit wikipedia gives it seizures. :)
- The guide to the information and format for userpages is at Wikipedia:User_pages. In many ways, user pages have more flexibility, and are often "prettier" than articles in the mainspace of wikipedia. I'm an editor just like you are, and your suggestion for adding a note on what is and isn't appropriate on a user page is a good one. I'll drop a note at Wikipedia:Village pump (proposals).
Some wikipedia categories are only for published articles. For example, [[Category:Harvard University alumni]] is for articles about Harvard Alumni. [[Category:Wikipedians by alma mater: Harvard University]] is for user pages for wikipedians who are alumni of Harvard University. I'm currently working to help separate categories like that so that they don't mix. Naraht (talk) 01:27, 2 January 2017 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of User:Dan-Erik Lindberg
[edit]A tag has been placed on your user page, User:Dan-Erik Lindberg, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be advertising which only promotes or publicises someone or something. Promotional editing of any kind is not permitted, whether it be promotion of a person, company, product, group, service, belief, or anything else. This is a violation of our policies regarding acceptable use of user pages — user pages are intended for active editors of Wikipedia to communicate with one another as part of the process of creating encyclopedic content, and should not be mistaken for free webhosting resources or advertising space. Please read the guidelines on spam, the guidelines on user pages, and, especially, our FAQ for Organizations.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator.
