Speedy deletion nomination of DoDo Pte Ltd
[edit]A tag has been placed on DoDo Pte Ltd requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organization or company, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for organizations and companies. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. SS✞(Kay) 07:10, 23 February 2010 (UTC)
Reporting Vandalism
[edit]While I'm sure Materialscientist doesn't mind you reporting vandals to his page directly, there's a whole page set up just to let admins know who is vandalizing pages. If you'll look at this page, you can find it and report vandals there. The instructions for formatting the reports are on the page. Thanks for your help, and good luck! {{helpme}} How can I give warnings and block users> DailyWikiHelp (talk) 09:54, 23 February 2010 (UTC)
- You can't block users, only admins can do that. Read WP:Vandalism for general advice on how to deal with vandalism, WP:WARN lists all the different warning messages, and WP:AIV is the place to report vandals for blocking. Read the instructions on that page under the red "Important!": the vandalism should be happening currently, and the vandal should have been sufficiently warned - they are not usually blocked unless they have had recent warnings up to level 4, and have vandalised again after that. JohnCD (talk) 10:09, 23 February 2010 (UTC)
{{helpme}} If I cannot block users, how can I be an adminstrator?
- Becoming an administrator usually involves several months of active editing in multiple administrative areas of the project as well as having demonstrating WP:CLUE. See Wikipedia:Administrators#Becoming an administrator for more details but please note that you have virtually no chance at all to become one at the current time. Regards SoWhy 10:19, 23 February 2010 (UTC)
{{helpme}} How can I delete pages?
- Only administrators can delete pages. Wikipedia is a collaborative project to build an encyclopedia - that's what we're all here for; it's not like the sort of on-line role-playing game where the object is to get promoted to the next level. Have a look at the links from the Welcome paragraph above to find out more about contributing. Regards, JohnCD (talk) 10:41, 23 February 2010 (UTC)

[edit]{{helpme}} Sorry, I didnt mean to vandalise Chongfu Primary School. I wanted it to be an article instead of a redirect. Can anyone tell me what to do?
- What you've done now is great. Sorry that the bot warned you erroneously. I have removed the warning now, regards, SpitfireTally-ho! 08:02, 26 February 2010 (UTC)
{{helpme}} When can I edit semi protected pages? When can I move pages?
- To edit these pages you must be autoconfirmed, which is after 4 days and 10 edits. You already have more than 10 edits, so I think you're good to go right now. If you still find you can't, wait till tomorrow and you shoud be able to :) SS✞(Kay) 09:16, 26 February 2010 (UTC)
Re: Unblocking User:Drivewiki
[edit]The user blanked at least 6 pages and created several inappropriate pages, despite warnings on their talk page. Therefore, I have indefinitely blocked them, as indicated in the template which I left on their talk page. Materialscientist (talk) 09:09, 26 February 2010 (UTC)
- Why did User:Drivewiki have 5 warnings, instead of 4 and had he/she created 1 page that was deleted but he/she recreated it.
- Number of warnings is not fixed, but a usual requirement is to have at least one level-3 or 4 warning. I don't understand the question about recreation - some users recreate the articles which were deleted and it is usually (unless recreated article is a might improved version) considered disruptive editing. Materialscientist (talk) 12:24, 26 February 2010 (UTC)
- I think you're a bit short of 4 days (you started editing on 23 February). Materialscientist (talk) 12:31, 26 February 2010 (UTC)

Moving TGV
[edit]Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, articles should not be moved, as you did to TGV, without good reason. They need to have a name that is both accurate and intuitive. We have some guidelines in place to help with this. Generally, a page should only be moved to a new title if the current name doesn't follow these guidelines. Also, if a page move is being discussed, consensus needs to be reached before anybody moves the page. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. -- Eraserhead1 <talk> 13:59, 26 February 2010 (UTC)

{{helpme}} How can I find or create an image or picture? —Preceding unsigned comment added by DailyWikiHelp (talk • contribs) 08:30, 1 March 2010
- You can upload a picture by going to Wikipedia:Upload, however please be sure to follow all the policies regarding using images on Wikipedia. They can be kind of tricky for newcomers, especially when dealing with images which are copyrighted. Generally speaking, we cannot accept those, unless a specific fair use rationale exists. --Nick—Contact/Contribs 09:12, 1 March 2010 (UTC)

- There isn't a general place to announce new articles. There are over a thousand new articles created every day, so it isn't feasible to have a page like this. If you require specific assistance on an article, there any many places to ask for help, request feedback, or request assistance on an article. Please let me know if there are any more questions. A tag has been placed on TLLH, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a redirect from an implausible typo.
Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. If you believe that there is a reason to keep the redirect, you can request that administrators wait a while before deleting it. To do this, affix the template {{hangon}}
to the page and state your intention on the article's talk page. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Redrose64 (talk) 12:10, 1 March 2010 (UTC)
Speedy deletion of File:File-Little Lost Hen.jpg
[edit]A file that you uploaded, File:File-Little Lost Hen.jpg, has been listed in Category:Candidates for speedy deletion because it is not an image, sound or video file and does not appear to have any encyclopedic use. See section F10 of the criteria for speedy deletion. If you feel that this file has a use in the encyclopedia, please place the {{hangon}} tag on File:File-Little Lost Hen.jpg, then go to its talk page (by clicking Discussion at the top of that page) and insert an explanation of how the file is useful to the encyclopedia. Thank you. Redrose64 (talk) 12:12, 1 March 2010 (UTC)

My Account On Wikipedia's Sister Projects
[edit]{{helpme}} I tried to log in on wikimedia but could not. I thought my account was on all sister projects. What can I do?
- You already have a unified account for WikiMedia Foundation (WMF) wiki. See here. The account at English Wikinews is not grouped with it, it has a separate login. If you are trying to log in to Wikia then you would need to have an account there. While they are related enterprises the Wikia login is independent of the Wikimedia login. You should be able to log in to any of the (i believe at present) 704 public projects with the login you use here on English Wikipedia. If you are trying to log in to http://wikimediafoundation.org/wiki/Home then that would be one of the sites you can read but can't log in to as it is not open to public editing. delirious & lost ☯ ~hugs~ 11:24, 8 March 2010 (UTC)

Rateing Articles
[edit]{{helpme}} How can I rate articles on their talk page?
- Talk pages are for discussing changes to an article, not for rating it. If you have some improments that you would like to see in an article but you think others mike disagree the article talk page is the place to talk about it. See WP:TALK SpitfireTally-ho! 08:23, 12 March 2010 (UTC)
{{helpme}} How can I rate them then?
- You can't. Kind regards, SpitfireTally-ho! 08:30, 12 March 2010 (UTC)
(edit conflict) Yes, you can.
Article ratings are inserted into the applicable project membership templates, such as, for example;
{{WikiProject Songs|class=start|importance=}}
The 'class' could be start, C or B. Anyone can assess articles in this way, and change the 'class' on the talk page. See Wikipedia:Version_1.0_Editorial_Team/Assessment.
To obtain Good Article status, there is a procedure for reviewing articles - see Wikipedia:Good article nominations. Similarly, Wikipedia:Featured article candidates for Featured Articles. Chzz ► 08:32, 12 March 2010 (UTC)

Hi DailyWikiHelp!
First off, good to see another editor working on vandalism patrol, especially if that editor is still quite new. I took the liberty of removing the warning you left on my talk page. It would appear that you got to the vandal a second before i did, which caused me to revert your revert, and therefore i ended up unintentionally removing the content again.
Keep up the good work, and I'm certain you will receive rollback in no-time at all. The reason why it takes a bit of time to receive it, is because certain users would abuse it - they would create an account, do a few hours of vandalism patrol, and afterwards they would go to their real purpose: Vandalism. However, if you keep up your current work i have no doubt whatsoever that you will receive it in a few weeks.
With kind regards, Excirial (Contact me,Contribs) 12:32, 19 March 2010 (UTC)
Please remember to subst user warning templates
[edit]Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. When using certain templates on talk pages, don't forget to substitute with text by adding subst: to the template tag. For example, use {{subst:uw-test1}} instead of {{uw-test1}}. This reduces server load and prevents accidental blanking of the template. Thank you. Nakon 15:26, 19 March 2010 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of The Train That Lost Its Way
[edit]You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles. See the Article Wizard.
Thank you.
A tag has been placed on The Train That Lost Its Way requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article, which appears to be about a real person, individual animal(s), an organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. If this is the first page that you have created, then you should read the guide to writing your first article.
If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
