Wikipedia:Featured list candidates/List of National Parks of the United States/archive1

The naming issue is pretty difficult to decide. Perhaps you should bring it to WT:FLC for more inputs.—Chris!c/t 01:33, 1 May 2010 (UTC)

WikiProject Harry Potter: Evanna Lynch

WikiProject Harry Potter has been rather inactive recently. I've been working on the Evanna Lynch article lately, and have based it off the featured article Emma Watson. I thought I'd ask if you would like to collaborate on the article, as part of a possible WikiProject revival. Leave your response at the article's talk page. Thanks! Alex Douglas (talk) 11:34, 1 May 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for the invite, but I don't really edit in that area anymore. Good luck with the article. Dabomb87 (talk) 18:29, 1 May 2010 (UTC)

Re: Grammy Awards FLCs

Thank you. I will certainly keep your comments in mind for future reference. --Another Believer (Talk) 14:37, 3 May 2010 (UTC)

St. Michael's Cathedral, Qingdao back up

Hi, I just wanted to let you know that St. Michael's Cathedral, Qingdao is back up as a FAC. It has had quite a bit of work since the last nomination. I'd appreciate any feedback you have at Wikipedia:Featured_article_candidates/St._Michael's_Cathedral,_Qingdao/archive2. ɳorɑfʈ Talk! 00:24, 8 May 2010 (UTC)

FLC stuff

Hey, I promoted two and failed one, but on closer inspection, there's no good reason to keep the bottom three running either. All have been going since 10 April, and with one support between the three of them, and no comments on any of them for around a week, these are probably fails too, but since I'm probably responsible for the oldest one being stalemate (Case Closed vis-a-vis WP:RSUE), I was hoping you'd take a look at them all when you get a chance and do whatever you think's best. Even if it's just a comment to give a short deadline. All the best. The Rambling Man (talk) 19:25, 10 May 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for the note. I'm busy tonight, but I should be able to take care of those three tomorrow (no harm in keeping them open one more day). Dabomb87 (talk) 01:16, 11 May 2010 (UTC)
Pretty frustrating when FLC is suffering from the lack of reviewers.—Chris!c/t 23:44, 11 May 2010 (UTC)
Yeah, I know; sorry about the 1973 Draft FLC. Feel free to re-submit it in 4 to 6 days, and hopefully you'll get better luck. Also, I should be less busy by the weekend and might have time to do more reviewing. Dabomb87 (talk) 23:47, 11 May 2010 (UTC)

Re: Hide rollback in watchlist

Done. No changes necessary on your part. Gary King (talk) 00:08, 14 May 2010 (UTC)

Royal Prerogative in the United Kingdom

Hi there. Not sure what you were doing here. Could you clarify? AGK 00:10, 14 May 2010 (UTC)

WP:BOLDTITLE says not to bold links, and not to bold the title if the title is merely descriptive. Dabomb87 (talk) 03:10, 14 May 2010 (UTC)
Thanks, I see that now. I guess that's why I shouldn't edit at 1am! Regards, AGK 11:12, 14 May 2010 (UTC)

And just when you thought it was over...

With regard to the list of numbered roads in Kawartha Lakes FLC, I'm aware that it is normally frowned on to go around posting notices for these things. However, after a month without reply, I'm wondering if its appropriate to do so at perhaps WP:USRD and WP:HWY), or if you had any other idea? Cheers - ʄɭoʏɗiaɲ τ ¢ 03:22, 17 May 2010 (UTC)

Feel free to do so, as long as you abide by the guidelines set out in WP:CANVASS. Dabomb87 (talk) 03:49, 17 May 2010 (UTC)

I'd love to hear your thoughts at Wikipedia:Peer review/List of Washington & Jefferson College buildings/archive1.--GrapedApe (talk) 05:24, 19 May 2010 (UTC)

Guinea pig

Hi, I notice that you collect scripts. would you like to be a guinea-pig for a script I've just written? It is meant to convert words from American spelling to British. Let me know how you get along. Thanks, Ohconfucius ¡digame! 09:33, 19 May 2010 (UTC)

Thanks, I will check it out this afternoon. Dabomb87 (talk) 12:35, 19 May 2010 (UTC)

Fixing dashes on my user subpage

Can you fix all dashes on my user subpage 2000s White Sox game log using your script? There are a lot of dashes that may take me a very long time to fix all dashes in 4 columns and 1621 rows. If you use your script it should take you about several minutes. You should fix dashes in exactly the same way you fixes it in all other White Sox game logs. In score column, you'll fix dashes and remove spaces between number and dash except for extra inning and shortened games which you'll leave one space between number and dash. In pitching columns, you'll fix dash and leave no space between number and dash. In record column, you do the same thing as the pitching columns.

Also can you fix dashes in record column and space out number and dash in extra inning games in 2010 Chicago White Sox season#Game log. BlueEarth (talk | contribs) 02:58, 20 May 2010 (UTC)

Hi. I fixed the 2010 article, but for whatever reason, your user subpage seems to be too big for the script. I'll try again tomorrow, when I'll have more time to address the problem. Cheers, Dabomb87 (talk) 04:04, 20 May 2010 (UTC)
I did it. I just had to let the unresponsive script continue to run. It took some time. Ucucha 07:23, 21 May 2010 (UTC)
Thanks! Dabomb87 (talk) 12:31, 21 May 2010 (UTC)

Also can you fix dashes in 2009 Spring Training game log like you did to 2010? BlueEarth (talk | contribs) 20:28, 20 May 2010 (UTC)

Done. Dabomb87 (talk) 00:32, 21 May 2010 (UTC)

Portal

Hi! I noticed this edit

The portal should not have been removed. I read WP:LAYOUT, which says portal links are normally in the "See also" section. Right now the article doesn't have a see also, so the portals go under external links. Wait until a "see also" is made before moving (not removing) the portals. WhisperToMe (talk) 15:00, 22 May 2010 (UTC)

Apologies, I had meant to replace the portals, but was sidetracked and forgot to do so. Dabomb87 (talk) 19:09, 22 May 2010 (UTC)

Coming back to help out FLC, in return for a favor of course.

Hey DaBOMB =) Now that school is coming to a close, and with me only working shifts at work. I can have more time now, so I will help out at FLC as much as time allows, which should be more than it has in the past year. I've began with the backlog, but I came back also to nominate 2010 WWE Draft, you think its ready?--Truco 503 23:37, 24 May 2010 (UTC)

Great to see you back! The Draft list looks ready to me (though check ref 5; it's broken). Dabomb87 (talk) 03:46, 25 May 2010 (UTC)

Availability

Hey Dabomb, my real-life situation just became DefCon1, so I don't know how much time I can dedicate to anything. Ironically, it may mean I'll be around more often, but there's a good chance that I'll be acting like an ass, so, as usual, feel free to ignore anything I say, and take it as read that I'm sorry. The Rambling Man (talk) 22:35, 25 May 2010 (UTC)

No problem, I should be around more often in the coming weeks, and will help shoulder the load. Take care, Dabomb87 (talk) 22:44, 25 May 2010 (UTC)
Cool. One day I'll buy you a beer (or whatever you prefer). The Rambling Man (talk) 22:51, 25 May 2010 (UTC)

I'm wondering if you could give me some suggestions on how to format List of Presidents of Washington & Jefferson College. I can't find any lists of college presidents that have made Featured List, so I'm not sure where to start. Can you give me some recommendations?--GrapedApe (talk) 23:29, 25 May 2010 (UTC)

Connecticut Sun

Hey. I know it has been a long time since we last talked, but if you don't mind, I could use your help. You see, me and Nickv1025 are having a serious problem with this IP user 71.235.140.89 who keeps vandalizing the Connecticut Sun page. We told him many times to stop, but he keeps doing it over and over again. I even sent him two messages, but that doesn't help either. I know with your busy schedule and stuff, but we just really need some assistance to end this. Thanks, Xavier (talk) 22:05, 26 May 2010 (UTC)MR.Texan281

If the IP continues to make unproductive edits, feel free to report it to WP:ANI or WP:AIV. Please note, though, that edit summaries such as this, this or this are unhelpful and serve only to exacerbate the tension. Dabomb87 (talk) 23:58, 26 May 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for your congratulations. As it's a bank holiday weekend and we've got guests coming, I doubt I'll be able to check up on the article at all while it's on the main page - which may not be a bad idea anyway, as I'm sure the regular anti-vandalism patrol will deal with most of the stuff. I've left notes at WP:OXFORD and WP:ROWING for their assistance (although neither are particular large or active projects). Once the holiday weekend is over, I can see how it's fared and what if any changes are for the better. Regards, BencherliteTalk 09:28, 27 May 2010 (UTC)

List of Nintendo 64 games

Hello, I noticed your comments on the Wikipedia:Featured list removal candidates/List of Nintendo 64 games/archive1 and that you and Giants2008, don't seem to answer back to the questions I made there. I followed most of your suggestions and gave my reasons as to why I think Nifty, is as reliable as IGN, Yahoo, Internet Movie Database, Killer List of Videogames, and other sites that publish such Entertainment, review type content. But sites like GameFAQs.com are questioned by Giants2008, and as I pointed out that is pretty much the only reason the list of Virtual Boy games got it's feature list. When compared to the two Nintendo lists GameFAQ and Nifty lists are far more accurate. The Nintendo lists which the newest one had 20 missing games, as well as multiple minor errors, as well as the earlier list they released that had "Blitz 2000", and "NFL Blitz 2000, and a few other errors. My questions were

  • (1.) "has there been a Wikipedia consensus as to what links and number of links to one site?" as lists like "List of Donkey Kong games" which relies mostly on GameSpot, and FAQs.
  • (2.) I don't think, we'll find a source that actually mentions how many releases were made in total, we simply present the sources and combine them without the sources totaling the games between themselves. Should the total be dropped or would our total be notable enough to be mentioned, or should the sources be re-cited from the other sections even though they don't give a specific total?
  • (3) Is there a requirement that any of the links have to have italics? It's not mentioned on Wikipedia talk:Featured lists or Wikipedia:Cheatsheet, and I don't think they are even noticed with the link highlighting them and being in bold type.
  • (4) I noticed that some articles use Inter-Wikipedia translations, and wondered. Can we use the Japanese Wikipedia article also? I think even one Japanese list helps provide a better view of the 1/3 of the games that are from Japan, and the translation site in 'general references' helps to give the proper spelling in English, most pages don't give the reader a reference as to how they got to that spelling and some sites might have two or three different spellings.

I know that it might be difficult to read the 'Featured list removal candidates' after my and New Age Retro Hippie's discussions, and I'm sorry they aren't were I think they belong on the discussion page, but like the changes you suggested, many people don't suggest things or complain without a suggestion or example of what they'd like to see done. It took me about a week to convince New Age Retro Hippie to go to the N64 list of games, instead of us disagreeing on my talk page, and even there I got things like * facepalm* from Retro Hippie while the discussion was going on. (Floppydog66 (talk) 07:06, 30 May 2010 (UTC))

Apologies, I've been caught up with other things. I'll try to comment at the FLRC today. Dabomb87 (talk) 15:25, 30 May 2010 (UTC)
Thanks for the update, I wasn't sure about if I should strike through others comments to show they were changed or not, but all of Giants2008's suggestions were taken except the ones about the GameFAQs and Nifty sites. I found a bit of information about Nifty.com here [1] and here [2] and it's Help page says:
  • Is money necessary for the profile registration?
  • No. Everyone can register free of charge. It returns to the head of this page.
  • What can you do by registering the profile?
  • It is possible to write it in the name registered by word of mouth.
  • It is possible to participate in the score ranking.
  • It is possible to participate in the gaming community.

But that's about all I could find, like GameFAQs I'm not sure where I'd look to find information on the sites reliability. I'm not an expert in Japanese, but would like to see them represented in their original form at least once compared to lists that spell the words differently in English and such, but even if we can't use it or the Japanese Wikipedia article for the Japanese spellings, the list already references those games and represents them even though without a Japanese site. Someone from the WikiProject Japan might be able to find a official Japanese list, or a review of Nifty.com but I haven't seen one, and those are the closest I've been able to find of the complete listings in any language of the Japanese releases. When answering your comment I striked through the parts of Giants2008 list of changes that have been changed or removed from the 'list of', I hope that was ok. (Floppydog66 (talk) 18:05, 31 May 2010 (UTC))

Hi again, I was able to find the Japanese official listing and used it to replace the Nifty.com link. The only two links left questioned are the two GameFAQs links, one is a list that links to each of the sites data pages about each game, and the other is the list that was originally used to source the "List of Nintendo 64 games" article and was present when it was upgraded to featured list status, the author lists his sources and gives his email address for questions or comments, or corrections.
