Now on 23rd I am off to Abkhazia for three weeks. During this time, I will be gone compleately (and I mean compleately, as it is questionable whether they have computers there let alone internet). If you want to give me a good welcome-back surprise, let me know that the Kryvyi Rih Metrotram has now been selected as an FA. How you are going to do this I do not know, but do take more than one user along, you know which site I upload photos from, its attribution everywhere except those not taken by him, (fair use in that case). Do check every single refernce you can find, and particulary those that i gave, if you get the train wikiproject people to come over then that's even better (in the end I do not really mind if the FA is going there). That's it really, it is a challenge, but even if you do not attain FA, then at least go for everything else, GA, DYK etc. 15-го вернусь...--Kuban Cossack 00:25, 21 August 2006 (UTC)
Hi DDima, I am clearing out a backlog at CAT:NC, and noticed that you retagged this image. Is it ok if I delete it now under CSD I9, or will you link it in the article to the new name at Commons which is slightly different? Nice pic by the way, I'll check out the article after I am done with the backlog. DVD+ R/W 22:04, 2 September 2006 (UTC)
Kuchima[edit]It looked like a pointless list to me, with no hope of being expanded or even linked from any useful article. Add it to Kuchima's article, if you must. Adam Bishop 06:22, 7 September 2006 (UTC)
Note on adding full Eastern Orthodox Project to your watchlist[edit]This is a note for members of the Eastern Orthodox Project: Since the project's main page has been converted to a portal-style box format, each of the boxes is actually its own page (you can see the page outside its box by clicking the 'Edit' link on any often the section boxes on the project page, which takes you to the edit page for its contents). Because of this, updates to individual box contents will not necessarily show up on editors' watchlists, if you've only got the main project page watched. In order to keep up to date with all updates to the Project and its pages, I'd recommend adding each subpage to your watchlists. These are:
If you add all of the above pages to your watchlist, you should be informed whenever any part of the WikiProject Eastern Christianity is edited/updated. To discuss this, please see the relavent section of the Project's talk page. —Antonios Aigyptostalk 09:33, 7 September 2006 (UTC) Featured picture nomination[edit]Hi, your photo Image:Andriyivskyy Uzviz.jpeg has been nominated to be a Featured Picture. Please see Wikipedia:Featured picture candidates/Andriyivskyy Uzviz for discussion. One of the objections, however, is that it's too small. Do you have a larger version (greater than 1000px on at least one side)? Thanks. howcheng {chat} 16:13, 8 September 2006 (UTC)

Image sources[edit]Wikipedia policy is to require to show image sources for every image. Source is very different from copyright. Source is a website/book.journal/etc. that the picture was taken from. Copyright is special rights that author has in that picture and is briefly described in image tags such as {{PD-old}}. However, without a source one cannot verify copyright claims. Who made the picture? Who owns it now? Who owns the copyright? What are copyright terms? YellowDot 00:50, 2 October 2006 (UTC)
Kiev Metro on uk wiki[edit]This is wrt to images used. Can you ask the person writing the articles to either upload to commons in case he has permission to copy the images from the site or to delete them as it is a clear copyvio otherwise. BTW do tell the UK-wiki admin to take a serious tone with image lincenses as there are none at present whatsover. --Kuban Cossack 16:53, 17 October 2006 (UTC)

I have attempted to fully restyle the template to fully make it conscise both historically and geographically, maybe you can play around with content and format to give it a better appearance. (The old version was PATHETIC in every definition) --Kuban Cossack 18:35, 27 October 2006 (UTC)
New FA suggestion[edit]I definetely think that it is time to make a good improvement on Kiev Pechersk Lavra, the best way to do this is to make it out of several smaller articles. Here is a nice reading material [1] for one of them. And I am in process of writing a nav template for it. --Kuban Cossack 19:03, 7 November 2006 (UTC)
Thousands of fair use images at your disposal[edit]Look what I found Большая Советская Энциклопедия. Thousands of 1970s images from the 3rd edition that can be uploaded under fair use for anything. Also right now I have the original 1950s 2nd edition of the encyclopedia in 50+ hardbacks with excellend PD images in them. Any requests? --Kuban Cossack 13:41, 11 November 2006 (UTC)
Integrity of wikipedia[edit]Do you care that wikipedia should be carefully balanced and well resourced? Do you agree that it should be free of politics and original research. Do you want all of the other language wikis not to have any bias to them. Then you can help by ending a wikicircus called Siberian language wiki. Not only is the language original research, that was synthetically developed by LiveJournal people, but its supporters use it as a political platform [2], [3] or complete disregard to other topics [4] [5]. Even more amazing is that its founder, the same person who invented it, takes no shame in using offensive terminology like "moscals" in reference to other users. I think the message is clear: Meta:Proposals for closing projects/Close Siberian wikipedia. Don't forget to register an account on Meta with iterwiki link to your standard one before you vote. --Kuban Cossack 14:04, 12 November 2006 (UTC) NKMZ[edit]Hi, thanks for your interest in NKMZ. NKMZ is a Ukranian company. However, in the case of a company which does a significant amount of business in or with another country, the other country may be named in a category. Viz Rusal/Guinea and BHP Billiton/South Africa. Furthermore, NKMZ was part of the Soviet Union for 60 years, as it was formed in 1934. I wrote a note at Portal:Russia/New article announcements#November 16-30 to this effect on November 16. I would appreciate it if you would read that note, and then decide if NKMZ should be listed under Russia, and if not, to provide a reason why not. And as far as "the Ukraine" vs "Ukraine" is concerned, I would prefer not to get involved in international politics, and have experienced edits when having written "Ukraine" and when having written "the Ukraine". Thanks. --McTrixie 15:16, 18 November 2006 (UTC) Sib-wiki vote[edit]I authorise that [6] and [7] votes to support closure of sib-wiki: pedia/source and were cast by me. —dima/s-ko/ 17:43, 19 November 2006 (UTC) Unspecified source for Image:Salhir River.JPG[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Salhir River.JPG. I notice the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this file yourself, then there needs to be a justification explaining why we have the right to use it on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you did not create the file yourself, then you need to specify where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page. If the file also doesn't have a copyright tag, then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use. If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. The other point is that my Hotel Ukrayina is now about 70% done. Linkspam[edit]The reason I deleted those as linkspam was that they were created by someone who had done no edits on Wikipedia but adding linking to this one site, usually several on the same page. For undoubtedly the same reason this site already is on the Spam blacklist, meaning that pages with a link to this site cannot be saved. - Andre Engels 14:16, 10 December 2006 (UTC) Question[edit]Thanks for your welcome note. Rusyn historical terretory[edit]Lemkovyna (Lemkivshchyna), as well as Carpatho-Ruthenia, allways were parts of Rusyn ethnic terretory, not of the Ukrainian one. Indeed, the idea claiming that people living in these areas are part of ukrainian nation was born in 1930-s in ukrainophile groups (lead by Voloshyn)and were then used by the governement of USSR, in order to annex Carpatho-Ruthenia (or Zakarpattia, if you prefer). Between 1945 and nowdays, rusyn were massivly assimilated, so, nowdays, only a few people of Transcarpathia know about their true origins. Nowdays, the ukrainian state still doesn't recognise rusyns, which is against rights of national minorities... If we are talking about historical terretories, we can't say that these ones are ukrainian: it would be totaly untrue, since before 1946, only a few people claimed there to be ukrainian. Saying that Lemkivshchyna are part of ukrainian historical land is also not neutral, because it supports the ukrainian nationalist point of view, which claims that there aren't any rusyns in the world, but only ukrainians. I think it would be better to restore my edit, in order to make the list of historical territories more neutral...--Rusyn 20:21, 22 December 2006 (UTC)

Image:Andriyivskyi Descent Kiev Day.JPG[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Andriyivskyi Descent Kiev Day.JPG. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself. If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. MECU≈talk 01:52, 9 January 2007 (UTC)

Let me know if you'd like to set up categories for unreferenced, imageneeded and mapneeded articles.
