RfA thanks

[edit]
Hi Cyclonenim, and thanks for supporting my successful request for adminship. It was nice to see all the kind comments I got from my supporters and I hope that I will be more useful to the community now that I have the tools again.--Berig (talk) 15:00, 1 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Metallica revision

[edit]

From WP:ENGVAR: Strong national ties to a topic An article on a topic that has strong ties to a particular English-speaking nation uses the appropriate variety of English for that nation. For example:

Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings (British English) American Civil War (American English) European Union institutions (British or Irish English) Australian Defence Force (Australian English) Vancouver, B.C. (Canadian English)

Metallica is an American band, thus they use American English. RandySavageFTW (talk) 16:35, 1 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sock puppet

[edit]

I think that the User:Boberedmustlive1 is a sock puppet of User:Reliv1908, but I can't figure out how to list the user on suspected sock puppets. It says to click "Start a case," but I don't see this option anywhere. --Ships at a Distance (talk) 22:09, 3 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, I figured it out. I don't think the instructions are very clear, though. For example, the button says "submit query" and not "start a new case." Also, it took me a while to figure out that the input box required Wikipedia:Suspected sock puppets/ in front of the name. --Ships at a Distance (talk) 22:49, 3 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Quick question, where are the warning templates in which you can include the name of the page that was vandalized? --Ships at a Distance (talk) 00:49, 4 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
OK cool, thanks --Ships at a Distance (talk) 19:45, 4 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

RE: Signature

[edit]

Not at all. Remember, everything here is GDFL meaning you can do what you like with it (within reason...) and you don't even have to ask permission. I basically stole the code from a template and then turned it into a signature. Here's the code:

—Eric Wester (talk · contribs · email)

If you need anything else, just ask. —Cyclonenim (talk · contribs · email) 08:29, 7 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It doesn't appear to be working. This is what appears... Eric Wester (talk · contribs · email) (talk) 23:50, 7 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Appears to be working now! Eric Wester (talk · contribs · email) 01:55, 8 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

There are many barnstars I think you deserve right now, but the point is, I rarely award two barnstars to the same editor...you're a great asset to the community and we're grateful for editors like you! --Eustress (talk) 11:45, 13 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the feedback

[edit]

Thanks for your input at my successful Rfa. I'm already thinking about working on my content creation. Hopefully in a few months, I'll have passed the point where you would've !voted Support. If you have any more equally well-thought-out suggestions on how I can improve myself as an editor, I'd be happy to hear them. Happy editing!--Aervanath lives in the Orphanage 20:50, 15 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

New Page Watcher

[edit]

Hi - I've fulfilled your access request. Pedro :  Chat  15:07, 17 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Which also leads me to wonder why you don't ask for some more tools as well .......it's been about 4 months after all. Pedro :  Chat  15:09, 17 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I respect your honesty in your self assessment. Good on you. Pedro :  Chat  20:26, 17 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I may need you to mediate

[edit]

It seems I have stepped on some toes, and wanted to know if you could watch the situation, and possibly mediate in your own way, if possible. Here is the deal, I want to merge the Integumentary system article into the Skin article. I tried to do this, with good reason, but was undone by User_talk:Rumping#Integumentary_system (see this link for my reasoning). I am willing to merge the other way (i.e. skin article into the Integumentary system article), or open to other ideas, but as it is now, I basically see two redundant articles. Additionally, on the periphery of this discussion are several redirects that I believe to be inappropriate, those being integument, integuments, and skin type, which I also discuss on that user's page. Now, if you think I am wrong in what I want to do, let me know, and I will drop the whole thing. I just want to improve the current state of derm content, and bring some organization to these topics. kilbad (talk) 05:03, 18 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

My Rfa

[edit]
Cyclonenim, thank you very much for participating in my Rfa, which was successful with 80 Support, 5 Oppose, 6 Neutral. The comments were overwhelming, and hopefully I can live up to the expectation of the community.

I would also like to thank my nominator Realist2 and my co-nom Orane (talk), and special mention to Acalamari and Lenticel (talk) for the kindness from the start. Regards, Efe

Coaching

[edit]

Well, I've got a free spot and I began thinking about beginning coaching with you. I looked back at your most recent RfA and the truth is, I don't think coaching will benefit you much. The feedback given there seemed to me to say "get some worthwhile experience in adminship areas, and to take your time when editing and making decisions." I think you can easily improve, but I do not think that coaching will benefit you in the long run--some guidance may be beneficial, but I think your best bet is to go it alone. I'm not saying that I do not want to coach you--I'm saying that I don't think I can really help you. I would suggest picking a few areas you would like to go into as an administrator and doing a good job editing in those areas. Don't just touch on every general subject needed for RfA, really work in the areas you enjoy and prove you will be a benefit with the mop. You have a lot of potential, but I think that only you alone can develop it to its fullest. Cheers, Malinaccier (talk) 21:54, 22 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, if you wanted I could do a less structured coaching where I review your edits every once in a while...I think this would actually be pretty helpful. What do you think? Malinaccier (talk) 22:29, 22 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Well...I think my proposal above to give reviews would help with this. You can also ask me questions about adminship and about any problems you might come up with. Malinaccier (talk) 22:35, 22 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Let's get started. Malinaccier (talk) 22:43, 22 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The RfA Barnstar
Cyclonenim, I would like to thank you for your participation in my recent Request for Adminship, which passed with 112 supports, 4 opposes and 5 neutrals. A special mention goes out to Stwalkerster and Pedro for nominating me, thanks a lot for having trust in me! In response to the neutrals, I will try to double check articles that have been tagged for speedy deletion before I CSD them and will start off slowly with the drama boards of ANI and AN to ensure that I get used to them. In response to the oppose !votes on my RfA, I will check that any images I use meet the non-free content criteria and will attempt to handle any disputes or queries as well as I can. If you need my help at all, feel free to simply ask at my talk page and I'll see if I can help. Once again, thank you for your participation, and have a great day! :) The Helpful One 22:05, 25 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Quick answer

[edit]

No, I'm not. As I'll say to anyone who'd like to know, I have no formal background in medicine whatsoever—it's just a personal (and professional) interest. I do get a chance to read a lot of medical literature at the day job, so I guess that's where it came from. Fvasconcellos (t·c) 21:49, 30 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Not a problem—feel free to question! Fvasconcellos (t·c) 22:20, 30 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
O.K thank, your right I didn't know the correct thing to call it. Good luck with your future RFA, let me know when it is so I can vote in it. Cheers SteelersFan-94 22:06, 30 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
