Babe (1977) review

Fixed the ST/factual issue with Babe's formation. I asked Julian, and he's never seen an article where a reference which required navigation pass GA within the TC project. He does understand what you're trying to do with not having so many similar references within the same article, which seems to be a hazard within most storm articles. Personally, I've never passed an article (or seen an article of mine pass GA) which required navigation from the reference to find the actual source. It makes fact checking problematic, which seems to defeat the purpose of using references in the first place. When one or more references are provided at the end of the tornado damage line which supports the text, I'll pass the article. Otherwise, it will fail on the 16th, and you will be free to seek renomination or challenge the failure. Thegreatdr (talk) 15:03, 13 October 2009 (UTC)

You just had to pose a difficult question to answer didnt u :P - The biggest question is that are they really obvious retirement candidates when we remember what the WMO:Typhoon Committee is like i would say no we leave them as are until January when we find out for certain weather Fengshen has been struck off. Though that said the wording of the email sent to me makes it suggest that they are obvious and will be struck off "Clearly, TS "Ondoy" (Ketsana) and TY "Pepeng" (Parma) will be candidates for retirement." so lets go for it and revert in January if Fengshen is not struck off. ROCI

Hey, I was just wondering why there is a template for largest hurricanes by gale diameter and not by ROCI? ROCI is the official measurement that is accepted by the scientific community, is it not? Maybe one is in order? It will take some research, but I know several of the top 10 - Ike, Gilbert, Isabel, Floyd, Carla, Mitch, and Wilma (not in that order, however).

It's going to be difficult to get them all down, but I am still having trouble with the idea that Gabrielle had the largest area of gale force winds (there is no doubt that Ike is the largest according to radius of outermost isobars data). For example, the National Climatic Data Center (from the U.S. Dept of Commerce) claims Ike is the largest hurricane on record in the Atlantic, here. They are probably referring to ROCI, but still Ike was so large that it seems unlikely that Gabrielle would be larger, even in gale diameter. Ike's size was more on par with the size of large typhoons, and was around the size of Typhoon Marge, which is one of the largest typhoons ever (2nd or 3rd, after Typhoon Tip of course). —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.43.169.0 (talk) 02:55, 5 November 2009 (UTC)

The storm did last a month. Even though it may have affected California for only 5 days, that dosn't mean that it couldn't affect the east coast later on. This winter storm, like many other ones moved on to batter the east coast after October 15, you see what I am getting at yet? Broken Templates

Hey Cyclonebiskit. Thanks for the message. Can you please provide an example article where an infobox template is not functioning? I am guessing that you saw a problem during the two or three minute window when a double redirect had not yet been fixed. I have checked sample transclusions of all the recent weather infobox template moves and all the infoboxes are functioning perfectly. The CMA in 1990 has two TD's that the JTWC doesnt have can u make track maps based on this data?. The windspeeds are in M/S, whilst the 1&0s after the date refers to when it was wat 0=Tropical Disturbance and 1 is Tropical Depression strength, Also can you do one for 04W 1990 - it doesnt seem to be on Commons having checked all the titles i can think off

We are half way through round one of the WikiCup. We've had some shakeups regarding late entries, flag changes and early dropouts, but the competition is now established- there will be no more flag changes or new competitors. Congratulations to Sasata (submissions), our current leader, who, at the time of writing, has more listed points than Hunter Kahn (submissions) and TonyTheTiger (submissions) (second and third place respectively) combined. A special well done also goes to Fetchcomms (submissions)- his artcle Jewel Box (St. Louis, Missouri) was the first content to score points in the competition.

Around half of competitors are yet to score. Please remember to submit content soon after it is promoted, so that the judges are able to review entries. 64 of the 149 current competitors will advance to round 2- if you currently have no points, do not worry, as over half of the current top 64 have under 50 points. Everyone needs to get their entries in now to guarantee their places in round 2! If you are concerned that your nomination will not receive the necessary reviews, and you hope to get it promoted before the end of the round, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews. However, please remember to continue to offer reviews at GAC, FAC and all the other pages that require them to prevent any backlogs which could otherwise be caused by the Cup.
