Hello, CycloneYoris,
When you tag pages for speedy deletion, please remember to post a notice on the talk page of the page creator. Make sure your Twinkle Preferences have the "Notify page creator" box checked off and that ALL of the CSD criteria (A7, G11, R3, etc.) have their boxes checked off as well. It doesn't really matter what the criteria is, page creators still should be notified. Thank you. Liz Read! Talk! 02:57, 15 June 2023 (UTC)
- @Liz: Got it, thanks! I wasn't aware that I needed to have those boxes checked off. Thank you. CycloneYoris talk! 03:54, 15 June 2023 (UTC)
- Just a note about the substance of your edit - if someone screws up an AFD nomination, please fix it instead of creating an entirely new nomination. WP:AFDHOWTO is helpful in these situations because it has all of the various templates and steps needed to "fix" the nomination. Primefac (talk) 08:41, 15 June 2023 (UTC)
- @Primefac: Thank you! I initially thought the XFD closer would overwrite the existing nomination instead of creating a new one, but I guess I was wrong. I'll definitely take note of this for future reference. CycloneYoris talk! 10:44, 15 June 2023 (UTC)

Dear Sir!
would you mind adding my Uncle James D. French to your list; he’s my uncle that was executed in Oklahoma 1966? He was convicted on two but was suspected of at least nine? Sadly, he the most famous person in my family tree on my Dads side; we’re not proud but it’s a good talking point; and being on the list would make it more relevant, although he has his own page already; adding him for others to see would be important to me? Please and thank, Shane T. French, aka stfjesusfreak Stfjesusfreak (talk) 01:44, 22 June 2023 (UTC)

AFDs
Hello, CycloneYoris,
First, thanks for your help with AFDs. I just wanted to say though that just because no admin has closed an AFD when time "expires" doesn't mean that it should be relisted. I'm a regular closer but I don't close every discussion I come across and I sometimes leave them for other admins to handle. Then there are administrators who seem to specialize in untangling complicated AFD discussions. So, if no editor has commented in the discussion for a few days and it seems like the discussion has come to a natural end, it doesn't necessarily need to be relisted. We generally list discussions that either have low participation or ones that seem to be deadlocked, with no closure option appealing to the majority of participants. At least, that's the rule of thumb I go by.
I should say that this comment wasn't posted because I have issues with any particular relisting you've done, it's just something that I wanted to pass along because you help out and relist a lot of discussions. Thanks again for all of your help! Liz Read! Talk! 03:20, 5 July 2023 (UTC)
- @Liz: Hello Liz. You're welcome, and thank you for your valuable insight. Oftentimes, I try to be very cautious when relisting discussions, and I usually always leave the ones that seem most complicated for other closers to handle (so I definitely agree with you on that). Although I do admit that I have relisted a discussion more than once, but it's only when I consider that more input is needed or when sources need further evaluation.
I truly appreciate your advice, and I'm happy to keep helping out with AfDs! CycloneYoris talk! 05:54, 5 July 2023 (UTC)

Invitation
Hello CycloneYoris!
- The New Pages Patrol is currently struggling to keep up with the influx of new articles needing review. We could use a few extra hands to help.
- We think that someone with your activity and experience is very likely to meet the guidelines for granting.
- Reviewing/patrolling a page doesn't take much time, but it requires a strong understanding of Wikipedia’s CSD policy and notability guidelines.
- Kindly read the tutorial before making your decision, and feel free to post on the project talk page with questions.
- If patrolling new pages is something you'd be willing to help out with, please consider applying here.
Thank you for your consideration. We hope to see you around!

New page reviewer granted
Hi CycloneYoris. Your account has been added to the "New page reviewers
" user group. Please check back at the permissions page in case your user right is time-limited or probationary. This user group allows you to review new pages through the Curation system and mark them as patrolled, tag them for maintenance issues, or nominate them for deletion. The list of articles awaiting review is located at the New Pages Feed. New page reviewing is vital to maintaining the integrity of the encyclopedia. If you have not already done so, you must read the tutorial at New Pages Review, the linked guides and essays, and fully understand the deletion policy. If you need any help or want to discuss the process, you are welcome to use the new page reviewer talk page or ask via the NPP Discord. In addition, please remember:
- Be nice to new editors. They are usually not aware that they are doing anything wrong. Do make use of the message feature when tagging pages for maintenance so that they are aware.
- You will frequently be asked by users to explain why their page is being deleted. Please be formal and polite in your approach to them – even if they are not.
- If you are not sure what to do with a page, don't review it – just leave it for another reviewer.
- Accuracy is more important than speed. Take your time to patrol each page. Steps such as checking for copyright violations using Earwig's copyright violation detector, checking for duplicate articles, and evaluating sources (both in the article, and if needed, via a Google search) for compliance with the general notability guideline are mandatory and will take a few minutes per article.
- Please review some of our flowcharts (1, 2) to help ensure you don't forget any required steps.
- Use the message feature to communicate with article creators and offer advice as much as possible.
The reviewer right does not change your status or how you can edit articles. If you no longer want this user right, you also may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. In cases of abuse or persistent inaccuracy of reviewing, or long-term inactivity, the right may be withdrawn at administrator discretion. If you can read any languages other than English, please add yourself to the list of new page reviewers with language proficiencies. Courcelles (talk) 16:58, 3 August 2023 (UTC)
