Orphaned non-free media (File:Kamek character.png)
Thanks for uploading File:Kamek character.png. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Hazard-Bot (talk) 04:20, 18 November 2012 (UTC)

Paper Mario soundtrack cover
Wikipedia's Fair use criteria requires that the image not be redundant; the image in question is nearly identical to another image on the same article. There is also no discussion whatsoever of the image itself - a necessity if a second cover of any kind is to be featured on an article. As Wikipedia strives to use as little copyrighted material as it can, we must have strong rationales for all images. Unfortunately, being helpful is not a good rationale, because if it is, then that opens a floodgate of images that could be posted on articles, simply for being helpful. We cannot use copyrighted images as decoration. If you would like to continue this discussion, a discussion on the general use of soundtrack covers is being held here. - New Age Retro Hippie (talk) (contributions) 04:38, 24 November 2012 (UTC)

Adoption
If you're still looking for an adopter, I'd love to adopt you :) For more information on my course see my adoption headquarters. If you have any questions, feel free to ask! Because you seem to have the basics of editing down, we can skip parts of my course. I'll fit it to you :) gwickwire | Leave a message 02:53, 30 November 2012 (UTC)

- Can I please adopt you?? Thank you, CURTAINTOAD! TALK! 06:18, 30 November 2012 (UTC)
- Hello again! I'd be happy to adopt you. I'll get your adoption headquarters set up when I get a chance, should be sometime later today. In the meantime, I'd like you to think about your answers to these questions:
- Why do you edit Wikipedia?
- What do you do most here?
- What is your least favorite part of editing?
- Like I said, just ponder those questions, and I'll reply here when I have your page set up. Regards, gwickwire | Leave a message 14:00, 30 November 2012 (UTC)

Administrator
Okay, so I may have done a bit of stalking and I noticed you wanted to be an admin. As your adopter has told you, it takes a good year of editing, if not more. It also takes showing that you're a good contributor to the site (no blocks, no being rude, good writing, etc). That being said, I became an admin at 15, and started editing at 14, so it is possible; you just have to do a lot of hard work in the meantime. --Rschen7754 04:10, 1 December 2012 (UTC)
- Great. Thank you for telling me! :D CURTAINTOAD! TALK! 04:18, 1 December 2012 (UTC)
- You might want to wait a while though - right now you don't have a lot of edits and you've only been here 4 months. The minimum that people will support at is 1 year and 6000 edits. However, some people want more. You will also typically need the autopatrolled, rollback, and reviewer flags (which also have requirements you must meet) - those show added responsibility that hopefully you would have handled well. Finally, you need some experience, whether that is writing articles, or fighting vandals, cleaning up typos, etc. Those aren't the only qualities that people look for, but that's a start. Adoption is a good step towards this as well. --Rschen7754 07:43, 3 December 2012 (UTC)

Please help!
{{Admin help}} Hello friends. Can I please be an administrator on the English Wikipedia? I believe that I have made lots of edits, being helpful to other editors, not being rude at all, and writing lots. Thanks and regards, CURTAINTOAD! TALK! 10:18, 1 December 2012 (UTC)
- Start by reading these pages:
- I would also recommend reading some recent RFAs, both successful and (particularly) unsuccessful ones, which you can find linked from the box at the top of WP:Requests for adminship.
- Regards, JohnCD (talk) 10:41, 1 December 2012 (UTC)
- I'll also add that it's not as simple as asking, there is a process that you must go through. Also, I have your first lesson up now. gwickwire | Leave a message 17:31, 1 December 2012 (UTC)

Hi, Curtaintoad. I've come to drop you a note about an AfC submission that you accepted and moved to mainspace, Henry Foss Hall. When I looked into the submissions from the user that wrote it, I realised that it was mostly made up of copyrighted text from another website, so it's since been deleted. AfC can be a...tricky area to work in. You really do need quite a thorough understanding of almost all of Wikipedia's various policies. I've been here for years now, and I still don't know all the policies yet. :P It might be a good idea to wait until you're more experienced before volunteering in that particular area.
But don't be discouraged by this message. It looks like you're doing great work everywhere else, and we're grateful to have you around. :) OohBunnies! (talk) 14:04, 5 December 2012 (UTC)
