Help
Hello there! I found your page and i wanted your help. The page on my name “Natali Thanou” was deleted - it is a page that many creators made on my name (i am singer , model and a tv personality from Greece) and i cannot find the way to review it back. I did not create this page- i am the personality they created it. I wrote and it seams that i cannot find any way to make it back online. Can you please help me or guide me, Thanks a lot Natali LoveWins30 (talk) 16:34, 2 July 2020 (UTC)
- Hello, LoveWins30. There has never been an article called "Natali Thanou" on the English Wikipedia. Is it possible that the spelling was different? Cullen328 Let's discuss it 20:11, 2 July 2020 (UTC)
There was A page “Natali Thanou” for 12 years and more. Few days ago It was deleted. LoveWins30 (talk) 21:08, 2 July 2020 (UTC)
- (talk page stalker) Here is the AfD: Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Natali Thanou (2nd nomination). Larry Hockett (Talk) 21:42, 2 July 2020 (UTC)
- @Cullen328 and Larry Hockett: Hello both of you ! Yes there was. The issue is that there is a cross-wiki attempt (see this @ el/WP) to have the article recreated. Furthermore, if account LoveWins30 is actually Natali Thanou as stated above, then there is obvious WP:COI, plus it's the third account that appears claiming to be the same person (the others before it were users Natalithanou3042013, and Natalithanou). - I am sorry that you have a disfunctional, unhappy relationship with your father. However, Wikipedia summarizes what published, reliable sources say about a topic. What you know based on your own personal and family experiences has absolutely no place in a neutral encyclopedia. Let me assure you that you will not be allowed to disrupt Joseph Benti nor to violate Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. As an administrator, I have plenty of tools available to prevent it. There are countless websites where you can tell people about what a bad man you think your father is. But not here. It will not be allowed. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 15:37, 3 July 2020 (UTC)

Is there any prior discussion(s) that you can point me on the practice to redirect candidates to the elections pages? I am aware of this Wikipedia:Candidates and elections, but it is inactive. – robertsky (talk) 06:55, 3 July 2020 (UTC)
- Hello, Robertsky. This is common practice going back many years in AfD debates, and if you search the archives, you will find countless cases. Of course, somebody needs to write the neutral article about the political campaign. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 15:09, 3 July 2020 (UTC)
- Interesting. I will keep this in mind when encountering similarly non-notable candidates on here then. Thanks. – robertsky (talk) 02:47, 4 July 2020 (UTC)
Thank you
I'm supposed to be taking a wikibreak right now, but I needed to say thank you for everything you said to me. You were beyond kind, despite my aggression. I feel awful about what I said to you, but I think that my apologies mean nothing right now, as I previously apologized to people for a similar issue, and immediately went back on what I said. Hopefully my future actions will show that I truly am sorry for being angry with you despite your kindness. 3nk1namshub (they/them) (talk) 17:06, 4 July 2020 (UTC)

Hi, thanks for your help on John Wayne Gacy. However, I noticed the protection you put in is significantly shorter than the previous protection, which expired only a short time before the vandalism resumed. Would you please consider making the protection longer? Jinnett (talk) 20:27, 6 July 2020 (UTC)
- Hello Jinnett. I was very busy at that moment and did not have time to look at the long history of vandalism. Thanks for asking me to take a closer look. The article is now semi-protected for one year. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 22:25, 6 July 2020 (UTC)

Yeah, I'm really sorry about that. And to be clear, the moment I realized I had added duplicate content, I removed it; I wasn't trying to get away with anything. Also, I'm pretty sure I sourced everything I copied in from the old revision. And, as to the block you mentioned, if memory serves, I received those warnings after making my edits, which was part of the reason my appeal was accepted. Additionally, I really believed my edits at the time were appropriately sourced, since ledes usually don't require citations, and I added the same figures to the infobox, with citations. Anyway, I hope that that was long enough ago and minor enough in the grand scheme of things that it doesn't need to play a role here. Nonetheless, thanks for calling me out on my mistakes today. I hope that they have been appropriately rectified. Cpotisch (talk) 03:12, 7 July 2020 (UTC)
- Cpotisch, please take another look at your contested edit. There wasn't a single reference in it. That is as much of a problem as the duplication. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 03:20, 7 July 2020 (UTC)

You are receiving this message because you are invited to take part at Wikipedia:Advice for newcomers where you can provide advice that will help our newcomers in the future. It is not a discussion forum, just a place where you say what advice would be helpful to our future editors. I would like to get at least 100 editors to take part in this so please feel free to spread the word to other editors as well. I look forward to seeing what you say to newcomers. Help in editing.
Hey Jim, I found you on Tea House. I am here to have little chat with you.
As I am new to wiki, I am facing a lot problems. I think you can help me.
I am trying to create an article about one of close friends, who is a celebrity. And I think it is time for her to be in wiki. I am editing the draft in my sandbox. Hope you would take a look. And There is a 10 sources I provided. My question is I have copied a lot words from the sources. Will they be verified? And what change do I need to make to put it on wiki? Any types of recommendation will be helpful. My sandbox link is below.
And please keep your talk in brief. Thanks.

A. Shohag 07:31, 22 June 2020 (UTC)
- Hello ShohagS. The most important thing when writing an article is to summarize what truly reliable, independent sources say. WikiBio is not a reliable source. IMDb also has major problems with reliability. Please read Wikipedia:Citing IMDb. As a personal friend of the actress, you have a conflict of interest and must edit cautiously. Please read Your first article. Copying from the sources is also a problem because that is a copyright violation. You must write in your own words. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 16:07, 22 June 2020 (UTC)
Thanks, again Jim. I have updated some of information and sources. And also changed some of the grammatical terms, some sentences too. You might wanna take a look.
Recently, someone deleted an picture of my friend (whom I am trying to put in wiki) saying it goes against copyright (But I don't think so). But I have also another picture uploaded from the same source which is used on my sandbox. Will this picture be removed? see it here. https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/User_talk:ShohagS A. Shohag 11:18, 23 June 2020 (UTC)
- Hello again, ShohagS. I do not think that StarsUnfolded is a reliable source. Also, File:Virti Vaghani.png is almost certainly a copyright violation, because it is copied from a copyrighted website. Did you read WP:YFA? Cullen328 Let's discuss it 15:51, 23 June 2020 (UTC)
I found that I better discuss it personally while I am having a lot little problems. I found you on Facebook. Can we talk there? And thanks for your help. You are being really helpful. A. Shohag 15:03, 24 June 2020 (UTC)
- Hello ShohagS. I prefer to discuss the specifics of Wikipedia editing openly and transparently right here on Wikipedia. If you want to chat about my personal opinions and family life, then Facebook is fine. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 15:57, 24 June 2020 (UTC)
Hello, Jim. There's nothing much of her images for free. I was wondering If could contact the authority for permission on using image, what would I need to ask them to provide me. I found on wiki that I will have to provide any declaration from the author. How to do that? — Preceding unsigned comment added by ShohagS (talk • contribs) 05:05, 25 June 2020 (UTC)
- Hello, ShohagS. You say above that this actress is a friend of yours. If so, you can just take a photo of her yourself and upload it to Wikimedia Commons. If you do not live near her, you can arrange for someone else to take a freely licensed photo of her, and that photographer can upload the photo. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 05:13, 25 June 2020 (UTC)
As saying "It's my own work"? And thank you very much. — Preceding unsigned comment added by ShohagS (talk • contribs) 05:16, 25 June 2020 (UTC)
Hello, Jim. I have updated the draft again. I think It's complete. Take a look and tell me what to change or can I procced to submit it? Thanks. A. Shohag 06:35, 26 June 2020 (UTC)
- Hello again, ShohagS. I looks like you copied and pasted an image off of Instagram. I told you to take a photo yourself or have another photographer upload the photo themself. That photo looks like a copyright violation to me. If it isn't, please explain why. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 07:08, 26 June 2020 (UTC)
Sorry! I am still trying to reach her. It might take a while. I will keep you posted. Thanks A. Shohag 14:14, 27 June 2020 (UTC)
Hello, Jim. I found an update on the internet 2 days ago which was updated almost 13days ago. I believe you might want to see this here. I assume that this is what you told me to wait for. Thanks. A. Shohag 03:23, 5 July 2020 (UTC)
- Hello again, ShohagS. The News Crunch does not like a reliable source to me. It looks like they scrape data about Indian film stars from the internet, and compile it into directory profiles. I see no original reporting and I could not find a description of their editorial staff or processes. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 03:45, 5 July 2020 (UTC)
Can Google Maps be a reliabel source? Can I use it as a reference? See this wiki page and tell me about this one. Thanks A. Shohag 03:03, 10 July 2020 (UTC)
- Hello again, ShohagS. Please read Wikipedia:Reliable sources/Noticeboard/Archive 97, Section 39. Any source can make mistakes, so if Google Maps contradicts an atlas or government maps, or other published maps, then it can be challenged. A reference to Google Maps is not evidence that a topic is notable. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 04:19, 10 July 2020 (UTC)
Somehow I found it no. But please take a look at this page and tell me about how did it survive from 2008 to now? I got no idea. Please. A. Shohag 04:36, 10 July 2020 (UTC)
- ShohagS, there is a strong presumption that villages and similar inhabited places are notable, unless the article is a hoax. Perhaps there are better sources available in Bengali, and you are welcome to expand the article if you can find reliable sources in any language. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 05:06, 10 July 2020 (UTC)
There's the problem. I am not finding anything, eventually, not even a single page in Bengali (My own language and the page's native language). Not even mention it in the way it was expressed in wiki. A. Shohag 05:17, 10 July 2020 (UTC)
- ShohagS, have you checked other atlases and maps? Thank you for confirming that you speak Bengali. If you think the article is a hoax, please read WP:G3 and act accordingly. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 06:54, 10 July 2020 (UTC)
Yeah, found just the name somewhere. I don't think that the page is truly hoax. But I was wondering that it only survived by some map sources. And one more thing, would you ever mind if I address you 'Hello, Mister Admin' or something like this? Thanks A. Shohag 07:58, 11 July 2020 (UTC)
- ShohagS, you can call me "Jim" or "Cullen328". I do not expect to be called "sir" for a variety of reasons. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 00:16, 12 July 2020 (UTC)
Please take a look at this one and this one. These are the translation of mostly read newspapers in Bangladesh. 'Prothom Alo' is at first of the list. Can't I write anything about the person just referring this two? Please, need your opinion. And one more thing that someone nominated my image categorizing 'Picture of same users doesn't mean anything educational'. I am afraid that It's totally hoax. Here is this two warns and here is the nomination. In addition, I found even some of your own pictures in wiki. Thanks A. Shohag 14:29, 12 July 2020 (UTC)
- Hello ShohagS. The two sources are pretty good, but I think that most reviewers will want at least three or four sources. As for the photos, you will have to contest the deletion at Commons. Adding them to your user page may be helpful. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 18:40, 12 July 2020 (UTC)

Footnote Numbering and Cite Web
Hi Jim I did a couple of tests and believe I have this figured out now. Please ignore my message below (unless you still think I'm doing this incorrectly). And once again, thanks for the help! Tom
Sent earlier / no longer applicable: Your guidance on the Teahouse was the most useful of the three responses so far. And thanks for the invitation to discuss this. Your main suggestion was to copy what had already been done on that page for consistency. What was used in some cases was a template called Cite Web (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Template:Cite_web) but not in every footnote in the article.
Other times it's just "Reference", which states "This reference consists of just an external link. You can use the "Convert" button below to generate a properly formatted reference." So neither of those options sound like they are correct.
The original author appears to have abandoned the article around 2012, so I would be inclined to try using what is most appropriate, which I believe is using Cite in the edit bar. However, I don't know if that will integrate well with what is already there. Any thoughts? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Financial_planner Tom Bene (talk) 02:14, 19 July 2020 (UTC)
- Hello, Tom Bene. There are many acceptable ways to format references, but all should rely on properly formatted opening and closing ref tags. What goes between those tags is up to individual editors, as long as the references displayed to the reader show in a consistent, informative and encyclopedic way. Personally, I do not use any semi-automated tools to format references and I do not create them entirely manually. Instead, I take the middle course and use standardized citation templates because they encourage me to create fully "bibliographic" references (even if the reference is not a book). You mention "Cite web" which I use for referring to reliable websites which do not publish on paper. There are similar templates for citing books, newspaper and magazine articles, academic journal articles, reliable source videos and many other types of published reliable sources. I enjoy creating references this way because I am monitoring every aspect of the reference myself while being prompted to provide the most complete and consistent information. Other people may think that I am wasting my time.
- I want to mention that I am 68 years old, set in my ways, and not highly proficient technically. You are free to use semi-automated tools if you wish. However, you are responsible for accuracy and therefore you must have familiarity with proper manual formatting so that you can proofread the wikicode output of any software tools you choose to use. I hope my comments are helpful to you. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 03:22, 19 July 2020 (UTC)
- Tom Bene, when you see an error message saying "This reference consists of just an external link", that indicates that the reference displays as a bare URL, which is better than nothing, but not very informative to the reader, since it is often an incomprehensible string of characters. We should strive to display title, author, date, publication or publisher, page number when appropriate, ISBN for books, and so on. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 03:30, 19 July 2020 (UTC)
Hi again, Jim, and thanks for taking the time to provide detailed comments (I am 66 and a new Wikipedia editor). I believe I'm finished fixing the References now, and they are working as they should, i.e., sequential numbering, automatic inclusion in the References section at the bottom, and including the descriptive information you suggested (but will double-check that now). Hi, we'd sorted out my "WP:USERNAME" in April - visible at User_talk:MARTin.Hinterdorfer. I'm just discussing with a client who is contributing to wikipedia, how he should go with it's also verified User (on de.wikipedia.org), whether the work on "en.wikipedia.org" could be done with that account, when disclosing a single person? Your kind offer to assist in adding articles as references on the Berrell Jensen page
Dear Jim,
What a lovely, generous offer, thank you. My confidence in Wiki is restored. I honestly felt that the general tone used by many of the editors/users on the noticeboards to be arrogant and proprietorial in a way that reminded me of my early days in IT (of which I had much, including having a brother who is listed in the Internet Hall of Fame). I will definitely take you up on your offer. It will take me time. I have a chronic illness which limits my daily useable hours - I had a good day (I thought) on the 24th, hence the great deal of work I did that day on the Berrell Jensen page. If I had set about creating the page myself, I would have gone about it very differently, creating a draft first and then seeking advice - it was seeing such a terrible page already existing that made me go in - admittedly the wrong way!
One issue with the articles in terms of 'overview' is this could be difficult to find. She was very active during 13 years in South Africa (1960 -73) and then left SA and more or less stopped working as an artist until her 60s, twenty years later, and in a different country. Meanwhile SA was more or less was at war due to apartheid, and she never sought to have her name in the public eye - ever, in fact. So while there will be a great deal of her work still in South Africa, as an artist she became more or less forgotten. In fact she generally shut down conversations of her time in South Africa - to be a white artist of repute and wealth during appalling conditions for non-whites was a source of great shame to her, even though she worked also on the fringes of the anti-apartheid movement and most of her friends were involved and some imprisoned. She was more proud of her work in community service. However, as anyone who knew her will attest, her art was nothing short of remarkable for a woman of her time, in a country that was about 10 years behind US/UK in terms of the position of women in society. Sadly there is no discussion of this anywhere to my knowledge, because she dropped out of the limelight so dramatically. I am not well enough to try to change this: I attempt to use my useable hours on my own work as a writer of fiction.
I've gone on, apologies.
On the Teahouse post I made regarding the issue of proper sourcing, one suggestion was I create a reference that lists the title of the news item, newspaper, date, page and byline.
Perhaps a combination of your suggestion and this might be best?
And to note that I'm seeking to change my user name to SandAJ. I suspect having such an obviously female user name skews the approach of (some) users/editors.
Thanks again, muchly.

I feel like BTSJ was trying to handle their COI correctly, by using draft space and not writing in an overly promotional way, and their username was their only real mistake. As such, can you change their block from {{uw-spamublock}} with "account creation blocked" to {{uw-softerblock}} or {{uw-causeblock}} with "autoblock disabled"? Could use your input
Hey Cullen, how are you? I was just working on the Pending Changes backlog and was just about half way through double checking the sources for the various changes recently made here when I noticed that you had blocked the original author of those edits (for good cause, not withstanding their well-intentioned efforts). I was leaning towards allowing the changes, since the details checked out and the content doesn't seem entirely inconsistent with many other entries in the list. The additions are mostly cases which I would say are best described as homicides by and large, but do all involve something that would certainly be regarded as kidnapping at the same time--and again, there are plenty of other such murder-kidnappings in the list. However, given the administrative action you've taken, I thought it would be appropriate get your thoughts before proceeding. And anyway, if the edits are likely to be removed, for whatever reason, I would just as soon spare myself the process of reading another half dozen stories about the murder of children... Anyway, thanks in advance for your time. Snow let's rap 08:34, 10 August 2020 (UTC)
- Hello Snow Rise. In all honesty, my block was based on the username plus the content of the user page. I did not look at the other edits. If you believe that the article content checks out and is properly referenced, then feel free to accept it. I understand your reservations. I have sometimes gotten very emotional and have had to step back when working on articles that covered personal misery and death. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 15:22, 10 August 2020 (UTC)
- Well my concern was more about wanting to respect your administrative prerogative and not work at cross-purposes: that is, I felt you were due the courtesy of a consult here, before I proceeded--although I did figure the block was more about the issues raised in the userpage declaration than anything. So my reservations were less about the content itself, which seemed appropriate, not withstanding the horrific subject matter. I have no particular issues with engaging with highly unpleasant topics if there is a useful purpose to it: I just didn't see the point in taking another half an hour out of my life to confirm those particular stories if the edits weren't going to stand. - Snow Rise, I do appreciate your respect for me and I respect you as well. In my mind, it is always about improving the encyclopedia and if the content is good, it should stay in most circumstances. Stop by my talk page any time. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 02:17, 11 August 2020 (UTC)
Anyway, someone else seems to have validated the edits and it seems there are no objections from you, so that's that. Always good to see you around the project, Cullen--take care until next time. Request for user right
Hello, Jim. I recently requested for 'Page move' user right here. Which have been declined and archived too. You know, I like a bit privacy. So I had to work on the sandboxes first. And I am liking to use {{db-u1}} anymore. And I don't satisfy the requirements described at WP:Page_mover#Guidelines_for_granting. But I am really having a bit problem with moving page. I came here wishing you could help me. Let me see If you can reconsider again. If not then leave me some recommendation. Thanks. A. Shohag (pingme||Talk) 08:36, 14 August 2020 (UTC)
- Hello ShohagS. My recommendation is to wait until you satisfy the requirement. If you need help with moving a specific page, go to Wikipedia:Requested moves. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 15:14, 14 August 2020 (UTC)
- Is it possible to get the right before 6 months having 3000 edits or more? A. Shohag (pingme||Talk) 15:18, 14 August 2020 (UTC)
- Please explain why you are in a rush, ShohagS. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 15:37, 14 August 2020 (UTC)
- I have been working on some pages which first I create on my sandbox like 'sandbox/newpage'. But It comes to then, when I move them to mainspace. As not being a Page mover all my moves leaves a redirect even on my sandboxes (I don't like to nominate it for deletion with {{db-u1}} as mentioned before). I want to move without leaving a redirect for my sandboxes. Currently that's it. A. Shohag (pingme||Talk) 15:49, 14 August 2020 (UTC)
- That is not a good reason, ShohagS. Please follow the normal procedures. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 15:54, 14 August 2020 (UTC)
- I truly appreciate the wiki rules but currently I am stuck with my problems. If I am not able to solve mine, how will I be able to serve others? You might think that I am just being greedy just for my own. Yeah, you are a bit right. If necessary, I wont just make it useful for me, for others too. A. Shohag (pingme||Talk) 16:01, 14 August 2020 (UTC)

ShohagS, I suggest that you read Wikipedia:Hat collecting. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 16:05, 14 August 2020 (UTC)
- If you see exactly I currently have no hats. But I faced one problem regarding this, one new tried to create an mainspaced article about some medicine. First he created an mainspaced article, there I added {{External links}} tag cause he added a lot of text in a short period (so I thought he must be copying or pasting), when I tried add a different tag, I found that all of those were written in his talk page. I left a message there but got no response. The he blanked the main article (someone even used db-u1), and tried to move his user talk page to mainspace but couldnot. He just renamed it like User_talk:his page. Then I used the rollback to revert all his edit and requested him to response. And he actually did. I restored all his edit in the mainspace and added the undercontstruction tag. Somehow that went good. It's in the draft page now. But I didn't move anything then because I didn't have the right. And user even thanked me using ip address. However This is just a bad experience while being awkward. And most of the case I don't like to interfere while I don't sufficient experience using that tool. However, thanks, I will wait 6 months to see if I can make it more good than me. A. Some baklava for you!
Thank you for the contributions you've made to Wikipedia. Like you, I have a real appreciation for the service Wikipedia provides to the world. I have a digital daily political magazine and frequently provide links to Wikipedia for my readers who enjoy going down the rabbit hole. I was prompted to give you this tasty pastry for a statement you made on your user page. You invited people to let you know if they see bias in your writing. As a Black woman (who is married to a white man), I cannot tell you how unusual it is to hear a white man suggest that someone might be able to help him see bias. I was so moved that you did that. I see racial and gender bias so often that I don't have the time, energy, or emotional wherewithal to do much about it. One user's edits are particularly offensive "Anythingyouwant". Not sure what can be done about that. But, at least, I can say thank you to people like you. Smkyle1 (talk) 20:47, 15 August 2020 (UTC) |
- Thank you so much, Smkyle1. Yours is among the kindest messages I have ever received on Wikipedia, and it is great for my morale in these difficult days. Here's a story from about 64 or 65 years ago, from the mid 1950s: I was about three years old and had learned the nursery rhyme Eeny, meeny, miny, moe from a slightly older child, and I recited it to my mom, including the horrible N word. My mother immediately stopped me, explained that was a hateful and hurtful word, and commanded me to never use that word again. She ordered me to be friendly to everyone. She was obviously angry, not so much at me as at racism itself. In the family I grew up in, the civil rights leaders and martyrs of the 50s and 60s were the heroes, much more so than professional athletes and movie stars.
- As for other editors like the one you mentioned, their behavior does not go unnoticed.
- If I can ever be of assistance to you, please ask. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 21:30, 15 August 2020 (UTC)
Love the story you shared. We need a lot more Moms like yours. I've rarely used Wikipedia's talk pages and am not sure that I'm responding correctly. Just wanted to thank you again.Smkyle1 (talk) 21:46, 15 August 2020 (UTC)

Impact of COVID-19 pandemic on the meat industry
Thank you for your response in the Hormel section. Wanted to ask and clarify: Hormel’s plant in its hometown of Austin Minnesota employs more than 1,800 people who make hams, bacon, Spam and other products. However Hormel itself does not process lamb, for example. Can we update that part of the text?
I also noticed some of the sources are news outlets that are near Hormel's offices or headquarters. For the main Hormel page, I've seen that the use of these news outlets such as the Minneapolis Star Tribune usually has to be balanced out by a source that is not "hometown coverage" so that the Hormel page remains accurate and unbiased. There has also been a consensus to not use and steer clear of industry specific publications such as the National Hog Farmer, which is used in a different section on the COVID-19 page. With that in mind, is it possible to look at other sources?
Thank you, Hello-Mary-H (talk) 23:47, 17 August 2020 (UTC)
- Hello there, Hello-Mary-H. I took the sentence summarizing what Hormel sells from the lead section of that article, which you obviously monitor closely. Did Hormel once sell lamb but later stop selling it? If so, please provide a reference. This is a minor issue and I do not feel strongly about it one way or the other.
- I do not know why you emphasize the Austin, Minnesota headquarters and operations there since you must certainly know that Hormel has plants in many states. We are now discussing an article Impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the meat industry in the United States which is not about Hormel but instead about a far broader topic, and which currently includes subsections about 25 other American meat companies as well as Hormel, and has 159 references. The Minneapolis Star Tribune is indisputably a reliable source and summarizing their coverage in this article is entirely correct. I see zero reason to remove it. As for National Hog Farmer, that trade publication is referenced in 18 other Wikipedia articles. Please state in detail your specific objection to that source, and please be aware that a local consensus developed on one article's talk page does not apply to other articles without additional discussion leading to a broader consensus. If you believe that a source is unreliable, please file a report at Wikipedia:Reliable sources/Noticeboard.
- I am certainly willing to look at other sources. Please post links at Talk: Impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the meat industry in the United States, and ping me. Thank you. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 04:33, 18 August 2020 (UTC)
- Thank you and hello there, Hello-Cullen3281, I have placed new links at Talk: Impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the meat industry in the United States and believe I pinged you properly. Just wanted to give you a heads up. Best, Hello-Mary-H (talk) 17:23, 19 August 2020 (UTC)
Maryanne Trump Barry
Thanks for riding herd on this article. I saw there was repeated disruptive editing by IPs - primarily removing the "sharply critical" phrase from the article - so I semi-protected it. Of course I protected the WP:Wrong version 0;-D but luckily you (or any other confirmed editor) can fix it. Unless there are 3RR considerations or something, I didn't check. Anyhow they removed it so quickly after your last restoration I thought you might have missed it. -- MelanieN (talk) 20:55, 23 August 2020 (UTC)
- MelanieN, I have been expanding the lead, and encourage your input at Talk:Maryanne Trump Barry, where I hope that interested editors can come to a consensus. I have already reverted twice, so I will wait a while before adding the criticism part to the lead. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 20:58, 23 August 2020 (UTC)
- Thanks for the invite but I think I'll stay "uninvolved". That article may continue to need adminning, and I don't "admin" at articles where I also edit. -- MelanieN (talk) 21:09, 23 August 2020 (UTC)
Sexual harassment
I now feel the official advise from the WMF was awful so I have blanked that thread. - Chris.sherlock (talk)<
- In doing so, Chris.sherlock, you have removed the contributions of other editors who took the time to contribute to the discussion. I consider that inappropriate, but I am not going to edit war with you about it. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 21:40, 23 August 2020 (UTC)
- I was wrongly advised by the WMF to report this there. I was told by Trust & Safety that complaints about sexual harassment should be reported to AN/I. This was wrong advise, and put me at risk. Did you revert whilst logged out? - Chris.sherlock (talk)<
- I reverted only once and while logged in. As I have disclosed and is well known, I live in California, in the Napa Valley, and am editing from home right now. That later IP reversion was made from a Starlight ISP which geolocates to the border of Idaho and Oregon, a very long way from where I live. For what it's worth, my ISP is Verizon. Be well. - I apologise for the inappropriate question. I’m not necessarily feeling very normal at the moment. - Chris.sherlock (talk) 23:12, 23 August 2020 (UTC)
- None of us are feeling normal these days, Chris.sherlock. In addition to the stresses of the pandemic, I live in an area that has been surrounded by massive wildfires of historic proportions for the last week. I see that the matter in question has been archived, and there is nothing more to say about it. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 23:17, 23 August 2020 (UTC)

Welcome to Wikipedia, and thank you for your contributions. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, please note that there is a Manual of Style that should be followed to maintain a consistent, encyclopedic appearance. Deviating from this style, as you did in Nancy Pelosi, disturbs uniformity among articles and may cause readability or accessibility problems. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. see MOS:JOBTITLES and article Talk page —Eyer (If you reply, add {{reply to|Eyer}}
to your message to let me know.) 23:48, 25 August 2020 (UTC)
- Hello Eyer. First of all, please don't template the regulars. If you want to communicate with me, leave a tailored message. I have been editing regularly for over 11 years, and the community has entrusted me to be an administrator. Referring an editor with my experience to the Welcoming committee (capitalized, ironically) comes off as condescending to me. I hope that was not your intention.
- Secondly, the Manual of Style is not a policy, but rather a guideline. It describes itself as "a generally accepted standard that editors should attempt to follow, though it is best treated with common sense, and occasional exceptions may apply." I believe that this ought to be an exception. The notion that capitalizing Speaker of the He ouse of Representatives "may cause readability or accessibility problems" seems bizarre to me. Where's the evidence for that? Your message says that you reverted to "maintain a consistent, encyclopedic appearance". Well, I looked at the biographies of several previous speakers, Carl Albert, Sam Rayburn, Newt Gingrich, Henry Clay, Jim Wright and James G. Blaine. Speaker of the House of Representatives is capitalized in all of those articles, so I fail to see how this is a matter of consistency.
- I look forward to your response. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 00:27, 26 August 2020 (UTC)
- In addition, @Eyer:, I looked at your user page, and there you state that "Nixon was President of the United States" is correct usage. If that is so, how can it be incorrect to write "Pelosi is Speaker of the House of Representatives"? Please explain that to me. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 00:37, 26 August 2020 (UTC)
- It's perfectly correct to say "Pelosi is Speaker of the House of Representatives". That's not what the article says, though. It says that she is "the two-time and current Speaker of the United States House of Representatives". Because "speaker" is modified by "the", "two-time", and "current", "speaker" should be lowercase. —Eyer (If you reply, add
