Orphaned fair use image (Image:RabbitTestEnglishDVD.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:RabbitTestEnglishDVD.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Thank you for contributing to Wikipedia, CrazyLegsKC! However, your edit here was reverted by an automated bot that attempts to remove spam from Wikipedia. If you were trying to insert a good link, please accept my creator's apologies, but note that the link you added, matching rule facebook\.com\/p\/, is on my list of links to remove and probably shouldn't be included in Wikipedia. Please read Wikipedia's external links policy for more information. Bio-stub template

[edit]

Thanks for trying to sharpen the {{bio-stub}} template in Homer Laughlin. Unfortunately {{US-artist-stub}} is not an accurate stub as Mr. Laughlin was not an artist, but instead an entrepreneur and industrialist. Before adding the stub to the article, I had searched for something more specific than bio-stub, but could not find anything that looked like entrepreneur/industrialist. --Kralizec! Bio-stub

[edit]

You removed {{bio-stub}} from Jun Chen. The reason I put it there was to attract the attention of somebody with sufficient expertise to apply the appropriate stub template for someone described as "Chinese American", since I was unable to locate one in the time available to me. Please either do so yourself or restore the general stub for someone else to make more specific. TIA HAND —Phil | Talk 22:27, 6 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

A favor

[edit]

Hi. I see you're a Penn State student, and I need your help. I've been trying to find an ancient painting for the mythological Orion, and it appears the only undisputed example is the Odyssey landscape of Hades from the Esquiline, but unfortunately the only place it's available online is a restricted Penn State website. It would be fantastic if you could upload image #18 there (and maybe #19 too, I'm not quite sure which is the right one), so we could use it in the Orion article. Thanks very much.--Pharos 11:53, 25 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

CC templates

[edit]

I'd be more than happy to updated the CC templates, I just have a few questions / concerns. First, the |- directly below the {{CC-Layout}} is unnecessary and should be removed from the new versions. Two, some of the current versions have an HTML comment above them indicating the license type (e.g., Template:Cc-by). It's your choice whether to keep that or not. Three, I'm going to create a /doc subpage for each of the templates; do you have any preference about which method to use: {{/doc}}, {{documentation}}, {{template doc}}? Once you've clarified these three things, I'll make the updates. --MZMcBride 19:02, 14 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Character Pages

[edit]

Hey, CrazyLegsKC, I respect the work you've done on the Desperate Housewives page, but I would like to know why have you deleted many interesting regular and recurring characters's pages by linking their names to the list of the show's characters. Many had great articles dedicated to them ( Xiao-Mei, Alma and Gloria, Preston and Porter, etc. ) and now only the continuing regulars ( not all of them, though ) and the former regular stars of the show appear on the template. If one tries to add new character pages, you somehow don't allow them. I ask of you to please let the show's article contain more character pages like it used to. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Renaboss (talkcontribs) 22:41, 20 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I completely disagree on what you did to the DH character pages, it was fast and without enough point of views and you took the liberty without being a moderator to take such a drastic and iportant action to delete all these pages. You are not a mod, think about it.213.140.18.137 (talk) 10:05, 5 December 2007 (UTC)Zisimos (talk) 10:09, 5 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Penn State explanation

[edit]

Hi CrazyLegs, just wanted to clarify something about the debate about where Penn State's article should be. I agree that "Penn State" is the most common abbreviation for the university, and I can see why you think it'd be better to have the article there (I don't agree, mostly because I want to maintain consistency with other university article names). The solution to ambiguity, however, is not to tack on "University" to the article name. Ambiguity is solved by adding items in parentheses, so a more acceptable option than the rarely heard "Penn State University" would be "Penn State (university)". It incorporates the commonly used name and Wikipedia's standard disambiguation rules. However, doing this when there's a good alternative name (namely, Pennsylvania State University) doesn't make sense to me. Hopefully this clarifies my opinion on the issue. --Spangineerws (háblame) 18:56, 8 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 21:51, 13 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Revlon logo.gif

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Revlon logo.gif. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Ricky81682 (talk) 18:50, 18 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:PA Lottery Logo.png

[edit]

Thank you for uploading Image:PA Lottery Logo.png. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image under "fair use" may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the image description page and add or clarify the reason why the image qualifies for fair use. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a fair use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for images used under the fair use policy require both a copyright tag and a fair use rationale.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it might be deleted by adminstrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. Improving Facebook to Featured Article status

[edit]

I am currently working on improving Facebook to Featured Article status, and I noticed that you have made substantial contributions to the article recently. If you have time, I would appreciate it if you could help out and improve the article. Some comments by other editors have been left at the peer review, Wikipedia:Peer review/Facebook/archive2, so feel free to address those issues, also. Thanks for your time! A question

[edit]

Hello there, you probably don't know me. I am Keegan.

I have an interest in nominating you to be an administrator, I see by your contributions and your deleted contributions that you could use the tools in good faith for maintenance purposes. Though you have a low edit count considering time on the project, I think you have a good chance with a well written nomination and good answers to questions on your end.

The only issue I have is the number of images that you have uploaded and have been deleted spacing almost 8 months. This would be an issue in an RfA, and I was wondering if you had an explanation for that. You can reply here or on my talk page, happy editing to you. Keegantalk 06:04, 4 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Specifically, is there a reason that you wound up with so many non-free images that resulted in tagging? Was it a case by case basis, bot sensitivity to wording and linking...those sorts of things. Appropriate legal image use is a huge concern for many editors (as it should be), based on the idea of free content. Thanks, Keegantalk 04:04, 7 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Question about Image Deletion

[edit]

You deleted an image from a page that I had added to Wikipedia with permission. There was and is NO comparable image available in wikipedia, and now there is an ugly placeholder where the image was (really, what is the point of that?). The use of the image was allowable with credit to the photographer, as was stated on the image page.

So, given that it was free, and properly attributed, and there is no comparable image, now why did you delete it from the article?

Whether or not you can answer that question, can you help me with why I don't receive any email from the pages I am tracking? This happened back in July. Sorry, I have a life and don't log into my wikipedia page every week. Maybe you can help me with how to receive these notifications, so I don't see more work deleted without recourse? Thanks. (If possible please reply to my talk page.) Also, please note I am asking this question assuming that you were acting in good faith in the first place. Given the article in question, I do realize that it's just as likely you weren't. Hopefully your response will justify my positive assumption. MoxRox (talk) 22:45, 12 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Replaceable fair use Image:Amazing-Race-Yield-Setup.jpg

[edit]
Replaceable fair use
Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:Amazing-Race-Yield-Setup.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Stifle (talk) 13:07, 17 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Golden Girls title card.jpg

[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Golden Girls title card.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. [edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Mamas Family title screen.jpg. You provided a source, but it is difficult for other users to examine the copyright status of the image because the source is incomplete. Please consider clarifying the exact source so that the copyright status may be checked more easily. Please update the image description with a URL that will be more helpful to other users in determining the copyright status.
