Pep Rally info

[edit]

Welcome!

Hello, Crawdad22, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your messages on discussion pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{helpme}} before the question. Again, welcome!

The pep rally info has nothing to do with you having first hand experience. Such experience is not allowed as a source for data on wikipedia, as it is classified as Original research. Wikipedia has several guidelines that define what kind of data goes into the encyclopedia. In a nutshell, an item must be notable, verifiable, and from a reliable source. If you can get a reliable source for your pep rally info, then it would be great to include it, if not, then it shouldn't be entered. If you have questions about that, I'd be glad to help explain or assist in any way I can. Arthur 17:17, 31 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'd be happy to help you put info in the article if you need help. But you have to make sure you're in line with the wikipedia guidelines listed above. If you have questions, problems, etc please don't hesitate to ask. But please don't simply add information that is unsourced based on your personal experience (pep rally) info, as this violates the WP:OR guideline. And please don't place information this isn't generally notable, even if it's interesting to local readers (TREE), as this violates the WP:NOTE guidelines. Again, if you have questions on how this works, read the section, ask me, or feel free to ask any admins, other editors, etc how it works. My suggestion is to find newspaper articles, as they tend to be the easiest sources for school-related information. For example if your local newspaper wrote information about the pep rally's, that would be an excellent way to introduce the information into the article. For example, see what's been done at University High School (Los Angeles, California) Arthur 19:13, 31 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'd really like to help you, but you need to work within the wikipedia guidelines. Wikipedia is not a website for information about your school, it's an encyclopedia and has certain requirements. Can you help me with sources for either the "tree" or "pep rally" information you'd like to have included? Can you explain why the "tree" info is notable enough for inclusion in an encyclopedia?
