Chile national football team

Hi, I was wondering if you could protect this article again, the IP's that kept vandalizing this article have returned now that the three month protection is up. Prior to three month protection, the article had been protected two other times (due to the same vandalism), the first was a week the second was two weeks. In the past I try talking to the different IP's (all from Chile), but they never reply, I even try talking to them in Spanish an no luck. I don't know how long the article should be protected, but I trust you will do what is best for the article. Thanks in advance. --Bocafan76 (talk) 04:11, 4 March 2011 (UTC)

I may be blind (or just tired), but can you explain how edits such as this are vandalism? Courcelles 05:07, 4 March 2011 (UTC)
Is more of a removal of content than vandalism per say, those players that the Ip's keep on removing are there 'cause the played with Chile in the past 12 months, as it is stated at Recent-call up section (The following players have been called up in the last 12 months), also if you see the article's talk page there is a "tacit consensus" as stated by user:Kevin McE on WP:FOOTY for this such list or recent call up players. Thanks in advance. --Bocafan76 (talk) 05:15, 4 March 2011 (UTC)
I guess I'll just let it go. Thanks anyways--Bocafan76 (talk) 22:00, 4 March 2011 (UTC)

Gravedigging

Hey Courcelles, I understand you made this edit when you made it. But given User:IvoryMeerkat, does SA/JPS really deserve a user page to use as a billboard? (PS: I'm really saddened by this. Sock puppets make me want to leave this place.) Thanks, Drmies (talk) 16:00, 4 March 2011 (UTC)

No, this block is going to stick, I'm afraid. All he should get now is the CU confirmed sockpuppeter template. Courcelles 19:32, 4 March 2011 (UTC)
Just to clarify, anyone who read Tim's sanction last time knew the block, though filed as indef, had a very easy termination clause. One sentence of text from JPS could have ended it. This is the usual type of indef, where there's nothing easy to say to get it lifted, and so the template is appropriate. Courcelles 22:15, 4 March 2011 (UTC)

Protection of Liukin

Hi Courcelles, I was wondering what your reasoning was for protecting Nastia Liukin? It has had only two bad edits in two days, not really enough for protection in my opinion. I was wondering if there were any extenuating circumstances? Thanks, Woody (talk) 21:42, 4 March 2011 (UTC)

No, I just consider that gracious plenty when a BLP is involved. Courcelles 22:05, 4 March 2011 (UTC)
Fair enough, your call. It is somewhat stricter than my standards, though I don't disagree with your interpretation. Regards, Woody (talk) 22:12, 4 March 2011 (UTC)

Thanks Courcelles, I'll won't tar my new user with Awikipro's brush. Cheers, The Interior (Talk) 22:16, 6 March 2011 (UTC)

Protection Thank You

Thank you for the quick response to the vandalism occurring on the Fahrenheit (video game) page. Xe7al (talk) 23:03, 6 March 2011 (UTC)

No problems, I know RFPP has been a little slow this week, so thanks for the patience. Courcelles 23:04, 6 March 2011 (UTC)

Account creator

Hello, can I have the account creator tool? I am interested in helping out on creating user accounts for other people and I understand what the WP:ACC and the username policy is about. I am also a trusted and established user here in the English Wikipedia. Thank you, —Terrence and Phillip 01:59, 7 March 2011 (UTC)

(talk page stalker) I don't see you registered to the Account Creation Interface at all, TaP. If you'd like to help out at ACC, you can register by following the instructions here. --Dylan620 (tc) 02:11, 7 March 2011 (UTC)
Oops, didn't see you were already registered as "Snake311". Anyway, you've been suspended from ACC due to inactivity, so you should contact a tool admin for reinstatement. --Dylan620 (tc) 02:20, 7 March 2011 (UTC)
(talk page stalker) Tool admins are always in #wikipedia-en-accounts connect, for your information. GƒoleyFour02:24, 7 March 2011 (UTC)
Yeah, per above. Without an ACC tool account, there's little reason to give you this flag. Courcelles 10:32, 7 March 2011 (UTC)

Hi, I think you keep missing my question?

Hello, is there any reason why you won't respond to my question? Zylog79 (talk) 10:28, 7 March 2011 (UTC)

I'm going to need some help here. I don't recognise your name. Courcelles 10:31, 7 March 2011 (UTC)

Why was Boyd Kirkland's image removed?

I noticed that you removed the image on my father's wiki page. I'm curious why it was removed? Did it violate some media commons license or something? If possible I'd like to be able to re-add it, but I'll wait to hear from you first.

Thanks,

Kyleki (talk) 16:04, 7 March 2011 (UTC)

Nevermind. I just found the note on my own "talk" page. I've re-uploaded the image with the appropriate summary and license information. Hopefully I've done it properly this time.  :)

Kyleki (talk) 19:39, 7 March 2011 (UTC)

Great. I can't get into any page in the File: namespace right now, but I'll check it out later. Courcelles 19:41, 7 March 2011 (UTC)
Looks good. Thanks. Courcelles 00:27, 8 March 2011 (UTC)

Whoops! My apologies. I'll correct that right away. - Vianello (Talk) 20:03, 7 March 2011 (UTC)

All righty, pages re-created as per request. Hopefully everything is smooth sailing from here! - Vianello (Talk) 20:06, 7 March 2011 (UTC)

Thanks. I think Durova has about 20 more, but mine do seem to be growing fast. I might need an FAQ like hers.... Courcelles 00:36, 8 March 2011 (UTC)

Tree shaping

Hi I had listed Slowart at edit warring and I listed the issue at COI. On the edit warring you locked the page 72 hours, which was good because it did get Slowart to start talking at the COI Noticeboard, though not on tree shaping talk page. Slowart has voiced he wants to be removed from the tree shaping article rather than to have his work showing the way it is. Now two IP No. have come in and mirrored Slowart's edits. Slowart's diff and also diff. The 1st IP diff I reverted their edit and left a message on their talk page [1]. The 2nd IP diff who just undid my edit but added (Tag: references removed) to their edit summary.

As a side note the 1st IP also changed the artist order in the summary diff The original order of the artists echoed the Chronological order found in the main body. I find this edit interesting as Slowart has claimed I've tried to build up pooktre on the page at COI. This edit certainly makes pooktre more noticeable in the summary.

I would like to revert the 2nd IP edit but don't want to be edit warring and I not sure what is the most logical next step. Should the page be locked again or partly locked? Or would this continued removal of cite content be considered vandalism? Blackash have a chat 09:56, 7 March 2011 (UTC)

Coffee, aspirin, and lots more coffee. It'll take those three things before I look into this, but I'm not ignoring you. Courcelles 10:33, 7 March 2011 (UTC)
Okay, this really looks like a matter more suited for WP:MEDCAB than an admin. I'll protect it if it seems useful during a formal process, but at this point, I see nothing requiring admin interaction. IMO, both of you should stay away from this article, but it would have to be a voluntary measure. Courcelles 00:29, 8 March 2011 (UTC)
Thanks for letting me know what is the next step. There is some more discussion on COI and I've stated I fine with going to formal mediation, but I won't agree with to a topic ban. It is bigger than just Slowart and myself. I won't fill your talk with my reasoning if your interested my reasoning is on COI. Blackash have a chat 14:10, 8 March 2011 (UTC)

Thanks, Courcelles! SlimVirgin test account (talk) 02:37, 8 March 2011 (UTC)

Hello Courcelles. Recently you deleted the Heritage Malta Logo. It was orphaned at the time. It took longer than expected to compose the text for each page.

I plan to upload the file again for use on Heritage Malta pages. Please advise.

Kind regards, HMweb. Hmweb (talk) 09:41, 8 March 2011 (UTC)

Restored. Be aware, the fair-use rationale given won't cut it, read WP:FURG and write a new one, or someone may try to delete it again. Courcelles 10:41, 8 March 2011 (UTC)
Thank you. I'll look in to the fair-use rationale. Hmweb (talk) 10:49, 8 March 2011 (UTC)

OTRS question

Hi Courcelles! I should have asked this on Commons, but I found you are more active here. I read COM:OTRS, but I have some questions. First, can we add the image and then ask for permission. Second, when we send an e-mail asking for permission, how should we attach the Declaration of consent? I mean, should we add the Commons link to it, or should we cop-paste it to the e-mail or something else like that? Can you please tell me how to do it correctly, if possible? Thanks! Novice7 (talk) 13:13, 9 March 2011 (UTC)

It's unclear, do you already have permission to use this image, and need to get it uploaded and logged in OTRS; or are you seeking to get the copyright holder to give you permission? Courcelles 13:16, 9 March 2011 (UTC)
Hi Courcelles! This is Novice7's alternate account. I'm using Wikipedia from a public place, so for security. About the image, I haven't asked for permission yet. I'd be glad if I could know how I can do that. I mean, can I just mail the person asking for a permission or are there any formats for sending? Thanks! Mag41 | Talk 14:16, 9 March 2011 (UTC)
Alright, then, I think Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission will answer all your questions. The permissions queues are in near perpetual backlog, so if you contact me when the OTRS is in, I'll clear it personally. Courcelles 14:30, 9 March 2011 (UTC)
Thank you so much for helping me out! I'll check that guide out. Thanks again. Mag41 | Talk 14:35, 9 March 2011 (UTC)

Hello again Courcelles! I'm guessing the guide is applicable for Flickr too? Novice7 (talk) 05:25, 10 March 2011 (UTC)

FlickR lets users select a license, some compatible and some not. Let me see the image, and I'll tell you what is necessary. Courcelles 05:33, 10 March 2011 (UTC)
Thanks! Actually, there are four images. One is this, this, this, and this. The first two are CC Non-Commercial, while the latter two are Reserved. Novice7 (talk) 05:41, 10 March 2011 (UTC)
Okay, neither of those licenses will fly. The method in a paperwork sense is for the Flickr user to change the copyright status there, even just for a few days, and let you get it on Commons and have the Flckreviewer bot process and vet the license. I'll copy an OTRS form-letter here, as it is directly relevant. (from otrswiki:Response:en-Using an image from flickr)
As explained at <http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Flickr_files>, images from Flickr can be used on Wikimedia Commons without the need for email verification of permission. All that's needed is to follow these two steps:

1. Choose a compatible license on Flickr: Ask the Flickr user to place his/her image under one of the two licenses that Wikimedia Commons accepts, that is to say Creative Commons Attribution and Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike.

To edit a license, the owner of the image should sign in and go to the image in question, then under Additional Information, the first line will read "All rights reserved" or "some rights reserved". The owner will see a link (edit) next to this, and should click the link and choose the "Attribution Creative Commons" or "Attribution-ShareAlike Creative Commons" option, then click Save.

2. Upload the image to Wikimedia Commons: Once the image has been placed under a valid license, go to <http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Upload> or click the Upload file link on any page on Commons. Choose the second option ("someone else's work from flickr") and complete the required details. There's more information and help about uploading image at <http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Help:Upload>.

Please make sure you enter the link to the image on flickr in the "original source" field, and choose the appropriate license from the licensing dropdown.

Once the file has been uploaded, it will be placed in a queue for administrators and trusted users to review and verify that it is correctly tagged and licensed.

If the image is already uploaded, you should add the tag Template:Flickrreview to the image description page which will add it to the review queue.

As we are unable to verify the authenticity of flickrmails or to connect an email address to a flickr account, we cannot validate permissions for images from flickr outside of this process.
Now, we actually could process the ones from Matthew Fields, as he pretty clearly through his profile and [2] links an e-mail from his Flickr account. (Though the OTRS agent would have to know this was the case) The other fellow would have to do his licenses on-flickr, as I can't find any certain connection to an e-mail address from his profile. Courcelles 05:50, 10 March 2011 (UTC)
Thanks. I could use Matthew Fields' one? So, I should just ask him for permission (through e-mail)? As for the other fellow, I'll log-in to Flickr and comment on the photo. Maybe, he/she'll change the license. Novice7 (talk) 06:02, 10 March 2011 (UTC)
Yeah, Fields can go through e-mail and OTRS, but he needs to e-mail us from the domain given on his flickr profile.. The other one will have to be changed on flickr, and after that gets done, you can follow the process above without the hassle and backlogs of e-mailing OTRS; a bot will log the Flickr permission; fairly quickly if you follow the instructions. Courcelles 06:06, 10 March 2011 (UTC)
Thanks for helping me out. I hope I can contact you, again, in case I face any difficulties. Novice7 (talk) 06:12, 10 March 2011 (UTC)
Sure thing. Courcelles 06:16, 10 March 2011 (UTC)
