Thank you - what does this mean for the page/article is it accepted. Countystat (talk) 09:14, 15 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
What does this mean it’s a redirection page.
the aim was to have a seperate page and then to have links from that page.
i can’t seem to see the page anymore.
thanks in advance Countystat (talk) 09:20, 15 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Countystat, if you post questions on pages people are only going to see them if they have watched the page or subscribed to the section. If you mention a user by linking to there userpage (and sign the post) they get a notification - see Help:Notifications. Otherwise you can ask on there talkpage like you did mine. Anyway, SafariScribe courtesy ping for the question as I'm not sure why they accepted then redirected either. Regards KylieTastic (talk) 09:46, 15 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you. I hadn’t realised, so thanks again Countystat (talk) 09:49, 15 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

help needed

[edit]

Dave Conlon

any help to get this published/created would be great, I'm not sure what to do next. Thanks Countystat (talk) 16:03, 16 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

looking for help with above question to get article published. thanks Countystat (talk) 16:06, 16 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Countystat. The Dave_Conlon article is already published to Wikipedia. Could you let me know what specifically you think you need help with? Qcne (talk) 16:28, 16 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

(edit conflict)

The article is already published, but not patrolled, which should happen shortly. You need to find better sources with which to improve the article. You also have a number of external links that need to be turned into inline citations. — jmcgnh(talk) (contribs) 16:30, 16 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Looks like it was just draftyfied - I was in the middle of making some improvements. Qcne (talk) 16:31, 16 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yes sorry - I was also looking at this.
Unfortunately, the sources in the article do not really discuss the subject, and more the club. For someone to have an article on Wikipedia, they need significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the topic - in this case, a lot of the sources are just discussing the club and his position there, rather than focusing on him. The relevant guidelines are at WP:SPORTCRIT, and I would encorage you to take a look.
Most of the sources in that article discuss the club and the matches, and only mention him in passing, rather than discussing him in details or focusing on him. If you can find some more sources that discuss him then the article might well meet our criteria, however currently it looks like he doesn't from my searching.
I've moved the article to Draft:Dave Conlon, so you can continue working on it, and to save it being immediately discussed for deletion. Mdann52 (talk) 16:37, 16 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Pinging @SafariScribe for info, as accepting AfC reviewer. Qcne (talk) 16:41, 16 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
It isn't that the Dave article wasn't good for publication. No, it may be accepted later but I see no reason of having a standalone article, hence the redirection. But since the creator insisted on improving the article, I have no option than to consider them. Now it has been draftified and believe you me, this may always be declined. Safari ScribeEdits! Talk! 17:16, 16 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, I see, so you accepted the draft in order to turn it into a redirect? I think that's where the confusion happened. Qcne (talk) 17:22, 16 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Maybe, but redirecting was the best to do. I think @Mdann52 should have just taken it to AFD (even though redirecting may still be the consensus). Safari ScribeEdits! Talk! 17:31, 16 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, this is all very confusing. I just accepted the article because it appeared to have been redraftified out of process, since it had already been accepted through AfC once before. @SafariScribe, I think it's best if you don't accept an article and then immediately redirect it, to avoid this kind of confusion. @Mdann52, if you still think this doesn't show notability, please go ahead and nominate it for AfD. -- asilvering (talk) 20:58, 17 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The draft has been moved to Draft:Dave Conlon to allow you to work on it. However, please see WP:NSPORT as currently most of those sources discuss the club and not him directly. Mdann52 (talk) 05:45, 17 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you everyone. The plan was to add a page for all the managers from the club who didn’t have one (working back chronologically). I will see if other information.
thanks again for your time and help Countystat (talk) 08:00, 17 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
