Date format changes
I am not sure why you are removing the correctly formatted dates. They use the autoformatting mechanisms and they are visible according to the user's date preferences (if a setting has been chosen by registered users). Please see MOS:SYL and don't change the date formatting, Thanks! — CZmarlin (talk) 01:44, 21 July 2008 (UTC)
- That's exactly my comment. As far as I understand MOS it is ok with linking dates like October 6 2007. I do not believe such links should be removed. Solitary years (like in 2008) should be de-linked. Renata (talk) 02:30, 21 July 2008 (UTC)
There has been a change in the consensus view on linking of dates (see WP:CONTEXT#Dates).
“ | Careful consideration of the disadvantages and advantages of the autoformatting mechanism should be made before applying it: the mechanism does not work for the vast majority of readers, such as unregistered users and registered users who have not made a setting, and can affect readability and appearance if there are already numerous high-value links in the text. | ” |
Since autoformatting benefits only a small number of users and it's a distraction for most readers, I'm unlinking dates whenever I'm making other improvements to articles. Colonies Chris (talk) 10:32, 21 July 2008 (UTC)
