Speedy deletion nomination of User:Colinbth3
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on User:Colinbth3, requesting that it be deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under two or more of the criteria for speedy deletion, by which pages can be deleted at any time, without discussion. If the page meets any of these strictly-defined criteria, then it may soon be deleted by an administrator. The reasons it has been tagged are:
- It seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. (See section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion.) Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.
- It appears to consist of writings, information, discussions, and/or activities not closely related to Wikipedia's goals. Please note that Wikipedia is not a free Web hosting service. (See section U5 of the criteria for speedy deletion.)
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. [edit]Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. Your user page may not meet Wikipedia's user page guidelines. It is intended for basic information about yourself, your interests and goals as they relate to editing Wikipedia, as well as disclosures of conflicts of interest and paid editing. Although a lot of freedom is allowed in personalizing your user page, it is not:
- an encyclopedia article (and should not be styled to look like one)
- a workspace for a draft article
- a personal website, blog, or social media site
- a space for self-promotion or other advertising
- a CV, resumé or lengthy autobiography
The user page guidelines have additional information on what is and what is not considered acceptable content. Please use your user sandbox or the draft article space to practice editing or to create new articles. Thank you. Drm310 🍁 (talk) 03:31, 26 May 2023 (UTC)
Question
[edit](moved from userpage by Drm310)
Hey to whom it may concern, I am an Emerson College student who is currently on break here in New Jersey. I am doing an independent study over the summer and trying to use Wikipedia. I have chosen a company who does not have a page and wanted to create one. I see someone has flagged my account and was wondering if I can get that override or if I can remake it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Colinbth3 (talk • contribs)
- Hello. I have moved your question from your userpage, as it is not a discussion forum. This is your user talk page, where you can communicate with other Wikipedia editors. As mentioned in the notice above, your userpage is a personal page for you to write a small amount about yourself.
- Before writing about any topic on Wikipedia, you should be aware that article topics must be notable to merit inclusion. In the case of a company, it must meet Wikipedia's notability criteria for companies and organizations. Mere existence isn't enough - the company must have already received significant coverage from multiple reliable and independent sources to demonstrate that it is worthy of inclusion.
- As well, if you have any affiliation with a topic you write about, it is considered a conflict of interest. If you are employed or otherwise paid by the subject of your writing, then you have disclose this under the stricter and mandatory paid editing disclosure policy.
- You can always ask for assistance at the Wikipedia:Teahouse, which is a forum for new editors to ask questions of more experienced editors. You should also review the guide called Wikipedia:Your first article to learn about the requirements and expectations to create new articles. --Drm310 🍁 (talk) 19:00, 26 May 2023 (UTC)
- Hey Drm310. After doing some research, I found credible resources to make this company page made. This is an independent study for a class, in wanting to create and try to use Wikipedia. I just want know how I can go about this. This company is a legit but obscure. For that reason it sparked my interest. I want to know and am curious about how to use wikipedia or even learn about it. Regardless, I have to make a cause for my class and want to learn. How can I go about this? What are the criteria's in making a page. I just want to understand how I can go about this. I want to know how I can create a page, as a student at a College. 2603:7000:B907:D18:DB3:F243:CE99:930B (talk) 15:49, 15 June 2023 (UTC)
