Proposed deletion of Miscast Gala
[edit]The article Miscast Gala has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- Not notable.
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Rathfelder (talk) 16:39, 12 April 2015 (UTC)

[edit]Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited The Trace (video game), you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Sierra. Request for article on David Varela
[edit]Hello Coin945 - loved your page about The Trace. There's a 'requested page' about The Trace's author, David Varela, if you fancy filling that out. Details and references listed here: David Varela page request. 81.144.194.167 (talk) 10:23, 14 April 2015 (UTC)
- @81.144.194.167: I assume you are actually David Varela? If so, I must say with the limited exposure I have had to your work, I think you are a great writer and I wish you all the best with your future endevours. There is some information I wanted to add to The Trace, but was unable to find anything on the internet, so if you are he, I might be able to ask you some things. I cannot promise a fantastic article on David Varela but I'll look on the internet and pull together a nice short article if there is enough to demonstrate notability.--Coin945 (talk) 11:00, 14 April 2015 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Junk Jack
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Junk Jack requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article or image appears to be a clear copyright infringement. This article or image appears to be a direct copy from http://www.metacritic.com/game/ios/junk-jack/critic-reviews. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.
If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website or image but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. --Anarchyte 06:55, 31 May 2015 (UTC)

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a search with the contents of True Love's Kiss, and it appears to be very similar to another Wikipedia page: True Love's Kiss. It is possible that you have accidentally duplicated contents, or made an error while creating the page— you might want to look at the pages and see if that is the case. If you are intentionally trying to rename an article, please see Help:Moving a page for instructions on how to do this without copying and pasting. If you are trying to move or copy content from one article to a different one, please see Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia and be sure you have acknowledged the duplication of material in an edit summary to preserve attribution history.
It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. CorenSearchBot (talk) 14:19, 6 June 2015 (UTC)

Spam
[edit]Please don't add the same message to multiple talk pages, as you did with this edit and others. Talk pages are for improving the subject of that particular article, not a billboard. I would request that you swing by and remove these edits as they are inappropriate per WP:TALK. --♦IanMacM♦ (talk to me) 05:53, 2 October 2015 (UTC)
- Apologies if it has been interpreted in this way. It's not intentionally spam; just a case of notifying the communities of directly-related articles that this notable topic has its own article. I think any endeavour that helps to improve content across Wikipedia is a positive one. And who is better qualified to improve this specific article than those likely to read my "billboard" posts (as you put them) on related topics? --Coin945 (talk) 05:57, 2 October 2015 (UTC)
- This is not what talk pages are for and could easily annoy other people. There are various WikiProjects and these are the correct places for co-ordinating edits to groups of similar articles. WP:NETPOP is a more suitable place for this request. I am likely to remove the talk page requests as they are not directly article related.--♦IanMacM♦ (talk to me) 06:06, 2 October 2015 (UTC)
- Ahh nice idea with WP:NETPOP. Thanks. I'll get right on it. You do what you think is best for Wikipedia. :)--Coin945 (talk) 06:13, 2 October 2015 (UTC)
- Seconded. No one reads Talk:Uncyclopedia to get an invitation to read or contribute to an unremarkable article that begins, "Although cats are a very popular pet, cats have been found to be unexpectedly popular on the Internet" before wiser minds decide to "improve content across Wikipedia" by removing this social blog. - I felt Uncyclopedia was justified due to the similar jokey nature of the site and cat memes which meant their editors would have similar psychographics. So please assume good faith. I'm not in a position to to ediit at the moment but stole a sec to write this.--Coin945 (talk) 10:29, 2 October 2015 (UTC)
- also I didn't write that line. I simply pointed out the topic was notable. And Wp:idontlikeit isn't valid. This is a very notable topic.--Coin945 (talk) 10:35, 2 October 2015 (UTC)

Your 25 posts to talk pages are self-serving advertising. Do as Ianmacm asks and clean up your vandalism; don't evade it by telling someone else to "do what you think is best." - Ahh nice idea with WP:NETPOP. Thanks. I'll get right on it. You do what you think is best for Wikipedia. :)--Coin945 (talk) 06:13, 2 October 2015 (UTC)

The Internet and cats
[edit]Thanks for the appreciation. If there's anything you particularly need copyediting on that article, raise it on the talk page or drop some {{copy edit section}} templates in - Wikipedia has plenty of copyeditors around. --McGeddon (talk) 16:00, 12 October 2015 (UTC)

Hello Coin945.
31 sources, 31? Perhaps that's a little too many for a page with 2 lines of content? 220 of Borg 08:28, 13 October 2015 (UTC)
Yes, you only actually need two references to meet WP:GNG. Keeping track of useful references is worth doing, but there's no benefit in clonking the reader over the head with all of them. You'd probably like the {{refideas}} talk page template, I'll set one up there. --McGeddon (talk) 09:42, 13 October 2015 (UTC)
Moving articles
[edit]I notice you moved The Internet and cats to Cats and the Internet - there's actually a week-old move discussion going on at Talk:Cats_and_the_Internet#Requested_move_6_October_2015 if you have anything to add. If you think "Cats and the Internet" is a better title than "Cat media on the Internet", it'd be good to hear your reasoning. --McGeddon (talk) 09:18, 13 October 2015 (UTC)
- You've also moved Human–canine bond to Human interaction with dogs to match Human interaction with cats, but those articles seem very different in scope (the cat article talking about breeding, fur trade and eating them). If you can plausibly imagine anyone objecting to a page move, it should go through the formal move process at WP:RM#CM. (The above Cats and the Internet move seems fine because you're just shuffling words around, but if you're changing the meaning and giving the article a different scope, it should be done more carefully - which is why I didn't just move Cats and the Internet to Cat media on the Internet myself.) --McGeddon (talk) 09:37, 13 October 2015 (UTC)
- It wasn't exactly a name change. I would call it a shuffling around of words, which I did because upon reflection I thought "cats" should be first. This actually brings the article title one step closer to the other suggested titles and should by no means be considered the final name. You may change it back if you wish. :)--Coin945 (talk) 13:39, 13 October 2015 (UTC)
- In regard to the Human–canine bond/Human interaction with dogs move, I felt that the move was justified, as it created a symetry between the two articles, and the content could be adjusted to accommodate the slightly different scope. While the term "bond" is a bit value-laden, the notion of interacion is more neutral, and can therefore include all types of interaction, both positive and negative. Again, please revert my edit if you think that is best. :)--Coin945 (talk) 13:39, 13 October 2015 (UTC)
- Symmetry would be fine if the articles themselves were symmetrical, but like I say, the dog article is written entirely in terms of the "bond", while the cat one mentions skinning and eating cats in addition to keeping them as pets. I reverted your move there and it's back at Human–canine bond - if you think it needs moving, WP:RM#CM gives you the templates you need to start a discussion. The Internet and cats seems fine for now, at least to me, as it's not particularly different to the previous title. --McGeddon (talk) 16:10, 13 October 2015 (UTC)

TAFI
[edit]Please, don't flood TAFI with nominations. That process is designed to improve highly-viewed articles of low quality. Looking at your nominations, I think it would be a better idea for you to spend time improving those articles yourself (expand, add citations, etc), and bring them to B or even GA class. See also [stats.grok.se the page views tool] to check the number of views an article has. sst✈ 10:10, 23 October 2015 (UTC)
- Hi @SSTflyer:, thank you for your valued comments. As one of the founders of TAFI, I helped to create the rules regarding how nominations should work, and actively tried to enforce a stub-to-C-class rule because people kept on nominating B-class articles which failed as TAFI articles. (The very first TAFI was Culture which I opposed, and rightfully so). There was never actually any rule against the number of nominations, and we have always followed a "throw everything at the wall and see what sticks" kind of approach. I hadn't visited TAFI in a while, and saw that there were very few suggestions, so decided to add a couple of ideas. You're welcome to Support them. Or Oppose them. I'm glad to see we have fresh blood at TAFI. Great to see. :D--Coin945 (talk) 12:35, 23 October 2015 (UTC)
- I didn't realize that you founded TAFI. The current rate for TAFI is one article per week, and it seems to be still quite ineffective (I previously nominated Voice acting for TAFI but reverted my nomination after realizing that it had been through TAFI fairly recently). Still, such a flood of nominations is unexpected, and article page view statistics were not provided, causing me to mistake you for a WP:NOOB. Sorry. sst✈ 14:27, 23 October 2015 (UTC)
- Ahh yes. I believe voice acting was one of my own nominations. :D. Yes, at the moment we are back to one article per week. But believe me, we've tried nearly every other system you could imagine. 10 per week. 7 per week. At one point I proposed there be 7 at a time and every day the "oldest" is replaced for a "new" one which is essentially highlighted on that day. But none of these ideas seem to work and go against the idea of highlighting one article for those Wikipedians who want something interesting to edit. Something that, as I originally described it, one would think is so obvious for an encyclopedia that it would presumably have been created really early and be a GA by now... except that its instead a crummy stub/start article. The point was to challenge the view that "all the good topics have already been spoken about" and inspire groups of editors to come together and work in harmony to boost some of these articles and give the topics the respect they deserve. Somewhere along the way we started to accept less "vital" articles and focused on the stub-to-C-class with a keen eye to whether or not people would actually edit the article in practice. So that is what the purpose of my nominations were - to add a bit of character and diversity to the nominations and get things moving again. Noob or founder, my actions are completely within your right to critique,and I thank for you message as it has allowed me to explain a bit about TAFI's history and my relationship with it. In accordance with your comment above, I have fixed the class-rating and daily-count. Back when I was last here the rules were much less stringent in these areas so I guess I am still living in the past haha. Thanks.--Coin945 (talk) 11:50, 24 October 2015 (UTC)
Genre AFD
[edit]agree, there is an issue, but, do a background check before flagging these things, i don't think doing a massive drive-by cull is the way to approach this. Semitransgenic talk. 14:16, 25 October 2015 (UTC)
- For what it's worth, some of today's nominations have previously been discussed - though not resolved - in the Jazz project archive; see especially the "Back on the genre beat" and "Another sub-genre" discussions there. AllyD (talk) 14:48, 25 October 2015 (UTC)
- Yes... it seems there is a legitimate problem with music genre article quality, but you are right - the way I went about it was inappropriate. In my mind, those that survived an AFD we the ones that deserved to remain. Alternatively, an article unable to stand up to scrutiny despite multiple commenters desperately trying to find sources, would be those fit for deletion. But the burden-of-proof, it seems, is on the AFD-er. And it painted me in an unattractive light, which I was not expecting. So, as I said on the AFD talk page, I sincerely hope no offence has been caused. I wish you all the best AllyD and emitransgenic. :)--Coin945 (talk) 14:53, 25 October 2015 (UTC)
- Maybe start with the worst examples, try one a week or something. Semitransgenic talk. 15:35, 25 October 2015 (UTC)
- I think I'll leave it. The problem has always bugged me, but after this experience I think I'll stay away from music genre articles. At the very least, these AFDs have created a discussion around this issue, so hopefully we can get together a taskforce to improve the quality of these articles, and delete those that are irrefutably non-notable. 16:32, 25 October 2015 (UTC)--Coin945 (talk) 16:32, 25 October 2015 (UTC)
- genres are problematic, I've attempted to get a some pulled in the past, the last being vaporwave, some of the ones you listed today, though seemingly obscure, are notable, and well documented, the articles are just in poor shape, some others on there, we could probably drop. Semitransgenic talk. 20:36, 25 October 2015 (UTC)
Music genres
[edit]I closed that one only because I have that genre article watchlisted, so I saw the AFD and your withdrawal. You seem to have done an awful lot of them, though, and unfortunately I'm actively working on other projects right now and don't have the time to tackle closing 50+ AFDs all at once. But what I can tell you is that if you're withdrawing them, as the nominator you are allowed to just close them yourself in that circumstance rather than waiting for somebody else to close them for you — somebody else would need to close it for you if there were a decision to be made, but if you just want to withdraw it, you're allowed to do it yourself. So I'll show you the steps here:
- At the top of the AFD page (even above the header), type {{subst:afd top}} '''withdrawn by nominator'''. ~~~~
- Remove the {{REMOVE THIS TEMPLATE WHEN CLOSING THIS AfD}} template that's under the headline
- At the bottom of the page, type {{subst:afd bottom}}
- Hit save
- Remove the AFD nomination template from the article.
Hope that helps a bit. Of course feel free to let me know if you have any additional questions. Bearcat (talk) 15:37, 25 October 2015 (UTC)
- Ahh thanks. I thought an admin had to do it. :)--Coin945 (talk) 15:44, 25 October 2015 (UTC)
- Thankyou @Czar: for closing these. I was just about to when I saw you'd beaten me to it. :D--Coin945 (talk) 17:54, 25 October 2015 (UTC)

DYK for Cats and the Internet
[edit]On 28 October 2015, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Cats and the Internet, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that although cats have an unprecedented popularity on the internet, no one is entirely sure why? You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, live views, daily totals), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page. |

- Thank you for your suggestion. Unfortunately, doing as you suggested can come across as having a conflict-of-interest and looking for Supports rather than objective reviews. If, however, you asked other users to review the articles I nominated, that would result in much fairer and unbiased reviews.--Coin945 (talk) 07:19, 30 October 2015 (UTC)
- Hmm, I dont agree with you on that. For example if I ask you for a review I ask you as you are a good reviewer. I dont ask you to either support or oppose just to review. Just as an example. So we have different opinions on that. The bottom line is, it is a difference between asking for a review and asking for a support. :)--BabbaQ (talk) 13:57, 30 October 2015 (UTC)
- So if you removed your suppports on my latest noms for that reason. It is kind of weird because I did not ask you for support I asked you for a review.--BabbaQ (talk) 15:04, 30 October 2015 (UTC)
- I removed by supports because I originally Supported the articles without actually looking at them in goodfaith because you asked me to check them out. But when I went back and analysed them, I decided to retract my Supports. :)--Coin945 (talk) 15:20, 30 October 2015 (UTC)

Bot automation at Wikipedia:Today's articles for improvement
[edit]Greetings WikiProject TAFI members!
Over the past two weeks, there has been extensive discussion on introducing bot automation to assist with maintenance of the Today's Articles for Improvement project. A bot has now been approved for trial and will carry out the weekly duties. The bots first run will occur around 00:00, 22 November 2015 (UTC) (midnight on Sunday).
If you have been assisting any of the weekly maintenance tasks, please refrain from doing so this week. The bot needs to be tested and proven it can do the job, and it only gets one chance per week. The tasks will include:
- Adding the new scheduled article to Wikipedia talk:Today's articles for improvement and removing the entry from Wikipedia:Articles for improvement
- Set up the schedule pages for the new TAFI, except the adding of an image and caption
- Adding {{TAFI}} to the new article for improvement, remove {{TAFI}} from last week's article and add {{Former TAFI}} to the talk page
- Notify relevant WikiProjects that the new TAFI is within their scope
- Send a mass message to everyone on the notification list of the new TAFI selection
Updating the accomplishments and archiving selections is still done manually, along with daily tasks such as adding approved entries to the articles for improvement page. These will become automated in the near future.
We hope the bot proves to serve well, and by carrying out the routine housekeeping tasks we can boost the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the project. MusikBot thanks you for your service in helping with the weekly tasks in the past, and for your cooperation during this trial period :)

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Fishing in Israel
[edit]Hello Coin945.
I believe you created the captioned article.
I am interested in learning more on some related topics that you touched in articles - especially historical bits. May I ask you what are some of the sources that you used?
Did you use Marco Dahan's "Fishing in the Mediterranean"? Could you suggest where I can get this book from?
Regards,

Proposed deletion of 2XL ATV Offroad
[edit]The article 2XL ATV Offroad has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- The coverage (references, external links, etc.) does not seem sufficient to justify this article passing Wikipedia:General notability guideline and the more detailed Wikipedia:Notability (software) requirement. If you disagree and deprod this, please explain how it meets them on the talk page in the form of "This article meets criteria A and B because..." and ping me back. Thank you. This proposed deletion was started by User:Piotrus
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Carmen Sandiego request
[edit]Hi Coin945, here is a scan of the source you requested. This is just the entry on "Where in Time is Carmen Sandiego" and I've edited the image to put the two halves of the entry (which ran from the bottom of one column to the top of the next) into one image. The review comes on page 43 and the author ("BH") is Burt Hochberg. The word "Best" in a red star indicates that it was the best game of the "Trivia game" category for the 1998-1999 holiday shopping season. If you have any other questions about the source, please let me know and I'll be happy to provide more info. -Thibbs (talk) 21:58, 2 September 2016 (UTC)
