August 2008
[edit]Dear Coffinfly,
Some of your edits on the page
1906 have been undone by PseudoBot, a robot built to keep the date pages tidy. The problems are:
- No Wikipedia page has been linked to.
If a Wikipedia page for the person already exists, add a link to it (by putting it in doubled square brackets [[Like this]]) and try again. If it doesn't yet exist, read this page carefully before creating it. In particular, you shouldn't create a page about yourself or anyone you know personally. If this bot has got it wrong (as can unfortunately happen), please accept its author's apologies, and (if you would like) leave a message on this talk page with the details, so it can be improved. Orphaned non-free media (File:AfricanInvertebratesCover2008 2.jpg)
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:AfricanInvertebratesCover2008 2.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:04, 16 May 2009 (UTC)
- Next time, just upload a new version of the cover. See File:G2Bcover.jpg for an example of this. By the way, have a look at the history of File:AfricanInvertebratesCover2008 2.jpg. Apparently you uploaded a high-res version, which is inadmissible. The new cover is also high-res and you should replace it with a low-res version in order to avoid problems with copyright. --Crusio (talk) 11:23, 27 May 2011 (UTC)

Disambiguation link notification for October 20
[edit]Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Entomological Society of Israel, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Taxonomy. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

A belated welcome!
[edit]Here's wishing you a belated welcome to Wikipedia, Coffinfly. I see that you've already been around a while and wanted to thank you for your contributions. Translation help needed on Commons discussion page
[edit]Hi Coffinfly, could you have a look at commons:User_talk:Jochen_Burghardt#Почему удалили категорию? User Шухрат Саъдиев left me a message there, in Russian language, as I was told by user Darafsh. Since I don't understand Russian, I could only guess what the message is about. Probably Шухрат Саъдиев will have the same problem with my answer (which might be inappropriate, anyway, in case I didn't get his/her question right). Could you help us with translating? You seem to speak both Russian and English language. Many thanks in advance! Best regards - Jochen Burghardt (talk) 19:43, 27 January 2017 (UTC)
Done. Coffinfly (talk) 09:34, 7 February 2017 (UTC)
- Many thanks! May I ask you to translate my answer back into Russian? A hint to commons:COM:OVERCAT might be sufficient. There is a Russian translation at commons:Википедия:Категоризация; maybe you can just link the corresponding section from my talk page. Thanks again! - Jochen Burghardt (talk) 20:11, 7 February 2017 (UTC)
- Any time! Translation into Russian is also done. commons:Википедия:Категоризация apparently doesn't exist, but I added a link to another article (ru:Википедия:Категоризация). Coffinfly (talk) 21:22, 12 February 2017 (UTC)
- Once more many thanks! - Jochen Burghardt (talk) 23:46, 12 February 2017 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Journal of Management & Administration
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Journal of Management & Administration, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Randykitty (talk) 12:29, 22 February 2023 (UTC)
- Dear Randykitty, I strongly disagree with the tagging/speedy deletion of the Journal of Management & Administration page and with your reasoning that the page was unambiguous advertising (?! - any proof of that?) and only promoting a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view. I've familiarised myself with your view point on academic journals, but my opinion on their notability is a bit different (predatory journals excluded). In any case, please let me have the deleted material. Thank you and best regards, Mike Coffinfly (talk) 14:03, 23 February 2023 (UTC)
- Hi, thanks for reaching out. I had a second look at the article and still feel it was too promotional. Obviously, the deleting admin agreed with me. I've seen that you posted the same message on {{u|Seraphimblade]]'s talk page and completely agree with their remarks. In addition, even if you'd produce a neutrally-worded article, I doubt that it would stay as it does not appear to meet our inclusion criteria (see [[WP:NJournals and WP:GNG; according to MIAR, the journal is not included in any database, let alone a selective one). --Randykitty (talk) 18:17, 23 February 2023 (UTC)

Disambiguation link notification for February 8
[edit]Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Leadership studies, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Liminal. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Connection with the Journal of Management & Administration?
[edit]Do you have a connection with the Journal of Management & Administration? ElKevbo (talk) 15:36, 11 February 2024 (UTC)
- As a language editor and typesetter. Coffinfly (talk) 18:12, 11 February 2024 (UTC)
Hello, Coffinfly. We welcome your contributions, but you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia and have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:
- avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization, clients, or competitors;
- propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{edit COI}} template);
- disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest § How to disclose a COI);
- avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam § External link spamming);
- do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.
In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.
Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. ElKevbo (talk) 18:23, 11 February 2024 (UTC)
- Hallo, ElKevbo, thank you for welcoming, I'm contributing to Wikipedia since 2008, so before this COI nonsense started; however, I've updated my user page. I'd appreciate it if you remove the Category:User talk pages with conflict of interest notices tag. Coffinfly (talk) 06:45, 12 February 2024 (UTC)
