Selected picture
[edit]Hi there, just to let you know that an image you uploaded has been chosen as a selected picture over at the Amusement Parks Portal! If you have any similar images that you feel would also be appropriate then feel free to suggest it on the nomination page. Many thanks, Seaserpent85 19:49, 18 December 2007 (UTC)
Photo Galleries
[edit]Hey, I've noticed you have added a lot of images the past couple of days to roller coaster pages. I feel that the pages with the "Galleries" are a bit much to have within the article and should be moved to the bottom in its own section. Otherwise images within an article should go along with the text being discussed. You may also want to look into creating pages on Wikimedia Commons and linking to that page. Here is some of the research I found: Photo Galleries Again, I have no problem with the galleries themselves besides the placement (it can become a bit much), but I feel other editors who are not familiar with roller coasters may come in and delete them.

The WikiProject Roller Coasters Newsletter
Issue II - January 2008 Got any suggestions? - Add them here |
Welcome!
Welcome to the second WikiProject Roller Coasters Newsletter! December has seen some real progress in terms of bringing up the quality of roller coaster related articles on Wikipedia. Assessment and tagging of articles is almost completely done and efforts are now being focussed on quality and improving articles. This month also sees the start of the new B-class drive, a brilliant way to get involved with the WikiProject and achieve something together. |
Articles and Assessment
As far as assessment goes, the backlog from last month was cleared almost immediately after the last newsletter went out, almost single-handedly by Alton! A progress chart can be seen on the assessment page that shows we are slowly dragging up the quality of the articles covered by the WikiProject.
The following articles reached B-class quality during December: |
Amusement Parks Portal
The Amusement Parks Portal has been significantly expanded over the past month and is currently a candidate for featured portal. Any suggestions for featured articles and pictures can be put forward on their respective sections. |
Membership News
During December the WikiProject was joined by 2 new members, bringing the total number up to 49 after 2 inactive users were removed from the member list. The to do list continues to serve as a place for flagging up articles in need of attention, review or comments. |
B-class Drive
This month's B-class Drive: Arrow Dynamics
So here is the first article improvement drive for the WikiProject, Arrow Dynamics. There isn't a huge amount that needs doing apart from the addition of references, formatting and a copyedit. For any outstanding contributions there are barnstars available which can be given to and by anyone! Any suggestions for February's B-class Drive can be brought up on the talk page, so if there's a particular article you feel could benefit from more input then feel free to suggest it. |
...and finally...
Once again, thanks for reading! As always suggestions and offers of help are much appreciated. |

Issue III - February 2008 Got any suggestions? - Add them here |
Welcome!
Welcome to the WikiProject Roller Coasters Newsletter! January has seen a number of milestones being passed in the WikiProject. We've achieved our first good article, brought a portal up to featured portal status and successfully collaborated together on the first Article Improvement Drive, amongst other achievements. Let's carry on with the good work and continue bringing up the standard of all articles covered by the WikiProject! |
Articles and Assessment
We hit a milestone in January with our first GA-class article, Speed Monster! This shows just how easy it is improve articles by including references and increasing readability. Collaboration has got off to a good start, with the first chosen article, Arrow Dynamics, improving enough to reach B-class. The following articles reached GA-class or B-class quality during January: |
Amusement Parks Portal
The Amusement Parks Portal reached featured portal status during January! You can still nominate articles for the selected content sections on the portal. |
Membership News
During January the WikiProject was joined by 6 new members, bringing the total number up to 55. A very warm welcome to Etf, CPGACoast, RickMarkestein, Emackert, Onewayroad2home and Suttna08. The to do list continues to serve as a place for flagging up articles in need of attention, review or comments.
A discussion is taking place regarding the best way to organise information about roller coaster records and the history of roller coasters. All members' opinions are welcomed; the discussion can be found here.

Article Improvement Drive
This month's Article Improvement Drive: Roller coaster
Why not start at the top?! The main article is already at B class and, with a little help, isn't too far away from GA class. Please see the collaboration page for further information. Any suggestions for March's Article Improvement Drive can be brought up on the talk page, so if there's a particular article you feel could benefit from more input then feel free to suggest it. |
...and finally... Once again, thanks for reading! As always suggestions and offers of help are much appreciated. |

Sources of roller coaster data
[edit]I'd normally ask the head of the roller coaster wikiproject this, but he's on a long wikibreak. I've seen you around quite a bit, so maybe you'll have some insight on my question.
Currently, we use RCDB as a reliable source for roller coaster data. But what if a coaster's data on RCDB doesn't match up with its data on the park's official website? I've seen this happen in several cases. Which should be used as a more reliable source?
Perhaps the park that owns the coaster would know best -- then again, their website might be more concerned with marketing and "round numbers" than accuracy.
I know RCDB is concerned with accuracy, but there are probably still mistakes if they've acquired numbers second-hand: their site says, "The rcdb's data was compiled from a plethora of sources: Usenet, Internet, amusement parks, roller coaster manufacturers and enthusiasts."
Is there a consensus on this? Please reply on my talk page. I've posed the same question to a few other active editors of coaster articles, so I can get several people's input and not just one.
Thanks!

Vekoma
[edit]Kyle Bundy, can I ask you why Vekoma is your least favorite? Maybe it goes always bankrupt? My favorite is Intamin and B&M, just like you. Please reply soon. MHLU (talk) 20:43, 12 October 2008 (UTC)
RE:Vekoma
[edit]It's okay. Many people have been doing that to me, replying like...maybe a year after I sent it. If you have any more concerns, let me know. Were you peripatetic traveling to amusement parks...something? MHLUtalk 23:32, 21 November 2008 (UTC)
major edit and rmoving outhers work
[edit]1. im not happy with you removing outhers work to replace it with your own its not polite. and 2 making large edits should be discussed b4 doing i personaly do not aprove because it is done by greed wanting to put all your own work out there over top outhers great work. cunsult talk pages b4 editing pages dont just remove a gallary to add your own its not right and know many moderators that will agree with me. --Cmedinger (talk) 02:12, 24 November 2008 (UTC)
o and as a side note i apreciate your work but dont just replace all the work done on one page with your own. as well your pictures are great what kind of camera are you using?--Cmedinger (talk) 02:15, 24 November 2008 (UTC)
revise away(keeping in mind your not the only photographer on wikipedia) i would minimaly like the main image of ttd left because i feel it fits better un the perspective of the size of the ride and the color is better in my opinion also limit your self to the # of images in a galary this isnt a photo encyclipedia pick one of each of the elements you wish to add to a gallery and stick to that 8 in my opinion is a max as far as making it looking cluttered also i just rembered i like the mantis image once again the color is amaysing and the quality isnt great but acceptable for the artical image size--Cmedinger (talk) 03:39, 24 November 2008 (UTC)
o and all images do not look good being only in a galary if it is well edited into a page minamily that would be preferance like maverics current setup but add a gallery at the bottom of the page--Cmedinger (talk) 03:42, 24 November 2008 (UTC)
- I happened to run across your edits on Top Thrill Dragster as well. Just to make sure you are aware, adding picture galleries, while not specifically discussed within the Manual of Style, are generally frowned upon and should be limited to no more than the images necessary to provide a well-rounded article. What we have on this article is basically the exact opposite - six photographs of the exact same thing from marginally different camera angles. You should come to an agreement on how to include the necessary pictures in the article and get rid of the rest. An article of this size doesn't have to be limited to a single photograph within the body of the article, but I definitely would try to limit it to two or three. Six Flags St. Louis
[edit]Dear Coasterman1234,
- Have you ever been to Six Flags St. Louis in Eureka, MO before?
- If you like Wikipedia, you may also like my own wiki. It has roller coaster information that has a need to be created, along with some other related stuff. If you would like to join, you can click here.
- If it's asking you to provide your birthday, it is actually requiring it because Wikia requires all users to provide their real date of birth as both a safety precaution and as a means of preserving the integrity of the site while complying with federal regulations. If you register at this wiki you will also be an editor on all Wikia sites.
- So, if you accept, please type the template {{User:MHLU/Invitation accepted}} on a new section of my user page.
- Also thank you for your good coaster editing.
Cheers, MHLUtalk 16:40, 6 January 2009 (UTC)
P.S. Please also note that they will definitely and certainly not sell your email address (coasterman1234@yahoo.com).

Pictures of roller coasters in the French Wikipédia
[edit]Hello . My maternal tong is the French so my level in English isn't perfect.
I am a member of the French Wikipédia and I work in the French Project Amusement parks ( http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Portail:Parcs_d%27attractions ) . You realise quality pictures and we like use them to illustrate ours articles . The problem is your pictures are in the English Wikipedia . To use these images in ours articles , we must transfert your image to wikipedia Commons (according the licence you put) and it is a long work . Can you upload at the future your photos in Wikipedia Commons ?
Your pictures are now used in French and German versions of Wikipedia. There is also another problem : some users do not like you put a big number of photos in articles and they delete the galeries , so after , it is difficult to me to find the pictures . In the French Project , we like a great number of pictures in ours articles . In example , http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plopsaland_De_Panne and http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Walibi_Belgium . Good continuation .

Possibly unfree File:Mystery Mine (Logo).JPG
[edit]A file that you uploaded or altered, File:Mystery Mine (Logo).JPG, has been listed at Wikipedia:Possibly unfree files because its copyright status is unclear or disputed. If the file's copyright status cannot be verified, it may be deleted. You may find more information on the file description page. You are welcome to add comments to its entry at the discussion if you are interested in it not being deleted. Thank you.
Speedy deletion nomination of File:Mystery Mine (Logo).JPG
[edit]A tag has been placed on File:Mystery Mine (Logo).JPG requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is an unused redundant copy (all pixels the same or scaled down) of an image in the same file format, which is on Wikipedia (not on Commons), and all inward links have been updated.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Non-free rationale for File:MBPavilion.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:MBPavilion.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.
If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. The file File:LZTR (Logo) (2).JPG has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
Unused logo with no article used, it's also can't move to commons because of an unused logo will be deleted as of out of project scope.
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.
Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Willy1018 (talk) 11:05, 30 December 2018 (UTC)
